As per media reports, Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon recently evolved a novel method for selection of liquor vends. To eliminate any possibility of any wrong doing in draw of lots , he instructed education department Officials to bring young school children for this job. They duty fully pulled out few class 6th students from examination hall to select liquor vendors by draw of lots. This was quite an improvement over common practice of detailing school teachers for election related work. This way children can learn more about positive contribution of liquor in national development, how huge revenue earned through auction of liquor vends finances national development programmes and those who sell and consume liquor are doing a great national service. One can only hope that this DC is not transferred and sent to some unimportant post and made incharge of education department.

30 per cent basic is not sufficient
Malhotra should know that there are lot of services where Government housing is woefully inadequate and they have to fork out huge sum to stay in private accommodation. Even at 30% of Basic, it is difficult to get a decent house in place like Delhi or Mumbai. If at all there is a case for increasing the HRA. (except for some privileged services whose officers get quarters by hook or by crook)

It would be welcome step
Implementing all recommendations of Javed Chowdhary would be welcome step. Specialist doctors who start their career very late (after MD+ 3 years+ some 6 -7 years more needed for being called for interview). More vacancies should be added at SAG/HAG level at the earliest since benefit to the doctors would be only salaries as they don't get any vehicle or other paraphernila/ staff etc.

Why such hysteria ?
Why is there such hysteria over the Scarlett murder case in the media? NDTV led the hysteria brigade and other news channels followed unthinkingly. Consider this-- according to Government of UK statistics, Britain today has the worlds highest number of teenage pregnancies. Added to this is the fact that 1 in every 4 teenagers in UK is on drugs. When english tourists come to India and to Goa looking for casual sex and drugs on the cheap, is it any surprise that they run into trouble? Which mother would allow her 15 year old daughter to take cocaine and alchohol and visit bars at 3 a.m. alone? Why is our media going into overdrive? Is it only because it is a white girl and the media wants to impress the whites? Is it the old colonial inferiority complex? Every year lakhs of brown skinned Indian teenage girls from poor families are sold off to brothels by their parents for the pleasure of our ruling elite. NDTV is not bothered. How quickly the media has forgotten Pandher the man- eating sardarji of Noida! Is it because the murdered girls don't speak with a British accent and don't have a matching white skin?
