Chance to Younger Generation A debate for increase of retirement age is
very hot on this website. A logic regarding increase in the retirement age that
if people turn senile at 60, then most Cabinet Ministers, Judges, Presidents of
political parties would be senile and unfit to work, is not tenable. The basic
idea to keep the retirement age at 60 is to provide an opportunity to the younger
generation. To make the qualified youths idle is not in the interest of the country.
H.K.Deewan Right age of retirement is 65 years It
is heartening to see that the government has recognised that the retirement age
is now being increased to 65 years of ITAT. This shows that the right age for
retirement for government employees now should be 65 years in view of the general
health conditions and their ability to work and give the benefit of their experience
to the government itself. Why government should loose this benefit especially
when employment avenues in private sector is tremendous and new comers are preferring
private sector because of the big pay package being offered to them. In view of
the above reasons it would be prudent and in the interest of the government to
immediately raise the retirement age of all central government employees to 65
years immediately. D K Singh It is easy to criticize others This
is in response to TT Ram's remarks about PAs cadre. This is pucca that he belongs
to CSS so is giving a reverse picture. In practice, you peep in any room of any
Ministry and you'll find that no body is there in the office before 10 O'clock
in the morning (whereas the official timings are 9O'clock). Coming to seat, they
prefer to relax for a cup of tea after 11.30 and lunch hour starts from 12.30pm
and remains in current upto 2.30p.m. or even more. After 4.30pm, the strength
of sections start depleting. So what is the contribution of UDC/Assistant? May
be submitting the files, with remarks, 'placed below is the FR for kind perusal
and further directions'! It is easy to criticise others. S K Gupta Designation
can not be declared as dead Comments on T Ram What I expressed was PAs
and Stenos are at present doing the bulk of the job than PS/PPs/Sr.PPs. You can't
declare PAs and Stenos dead as they are assisting the senior officers by sitting
late. What I meant to say was that from Steno Grade 'D' to Sr.PPs, so many designation
should not be there. Instead there should be only 3 and three good remunerative
scales should be given and all should be held responsible in disposing of their
duties. If this is not possible, they Steno Grade 'D' and 'C' should be given
good extra allowance for working after office hours as in the case of PSUs. This
may also tempt the PS/PPs/Sr.PPs to sit late for this allowance instead of Grade'D'
and 'C' and they may change their attitude. So therefore any designation cannot
be declared 'dead' just like that. In that case nearly 50% of the designation
in Government Ministries should cease to exist. Rajesh Yes
they needed to be declared dead I think that DOPT has already taken measures
to declare dead the cadres which needed to be declared dead. That clears the picture
as to who is doing what in Government Departments. Lets us not fight over which
cadre should be declared dead, lets broaden our approach and think of what is
better in toto for Govt. Servants (in general and no one in particular) rather
than throwing mud at each other. Grow up. Vandana Sharma It
is disappointing Please refer to your news item on whisper dated 13.3.2008 It
was disappointing to note that the retirement age of ITAT Chairman has been raised
to 65. RS Yadav PA and PS are backbone PA, PS, PPS
and Sr PPS are back bone for smooth functioning in Central Secretariat. They are
the people who finish their job within one hour of assignment. The system depend
on their assistance. Gosain DoPT has already taken measures I
think that DOPT has already taken measures to declare dead the cadres which needed
to be declared dead. That clears the picture as to who is doing what in Government
Departments. Lets us not fight over which cadre should be declared dead, lets
broaden our approach and think of what is better in toto for Govt. Servants (in
general and no one in particular) rather than throwing mud at each other. Grow
up. Vandana Sharma Was she not killed in India ? I think
Choudhary is not appreciating the point concerned in the scarlette murder case.
Does he think that if she was drug addict and involved in teeenage sex, her murder
was justified.... Chaudhary, if she was drug addict or involved in sex, it was
her decision but the fact she was killed in India was not her decision or her
will. The fact that she was a foreigner made the case more unfortunate, not the
fact the she was the Britisher or white, it would have been equally unfortunate
had she been from Nigeria or Angola Vinay Media should behave
in responsible way I fully agree with Chaudhury. Media should behave in
a responsible way, particularly when the matter relates to some foreign country.
It has a direct effect on the tourists and economy. When we compare the quality
of coverage and crime files on Indian TV media (private channels), we see how
desperate and cheap they have become just for commercial purposes. Prafulla NDTV
-highlight problems of India NDTV has started behaving like and imitating
CNN and BBC News Channels. Why the hell is it doing so is not known? Com'on NDTV,
you are a New Delhi TV. Highlight the problems of India, you will be doing a big
favour to the people of India by doing that. Ravi Pl have
some decency in reporting These comments are appropriate. NDTV has made
a mockery of the news item as though it is the only crime of its kind in the whole
world. Worst kind of police bashing and trash reporting. Why can't these channels
bring in some professionalism and decency in reporting ? Some channels are specialising
only in reporting trash. IBN is another stupid channel. Is making money the only
motive for these channels ? Let some better sense prevail on these channel barons. Rajeeva What
are the prospects ? What are the prospects in the forthcoming Pay Commission.
Are we really going to get something or our condition is likely to remain the
same . Suneel Pathak Federations of National Games The
national level games federations, currently being run as fiefdoms, could do with
some reforms. To begin with, a limit could be placed on the number of terms anyone
can have as office bearer of a particular game federation. S Sharma There
shall be two grades of officers in the country After publication of sixth
pay commission report, there shall be two grades of officers in the country. The
central government employees who automatically avail the benefits of new pay scale,
and the employees of state government who have to wait indefinitely till the political
leadership wish to implement the same, mostly a truncated one. Some state government
have not yet implemented many of the benefits of 5th pay commission. It is urged
upon all that let the pay scale be implemented uniformly all over the country
mutatis-mutandisso that zeal to work is maintained. Suresh
