NRAA still a non starter
Many an eyebrows have been raised on the high profile National Rainfed Areas Authority(NRAA) of which CEO is JS Samra. It is still a non starter. The NRAA was constituted at the behest of Indian Prime Minister Dr.Man Mohan Singh and falls under the jurisdiction of Agriculture Ministry at the Centre. Samra assumed charge in May 2007 while two of its members are still not in their positions. Sources say that the NRAA should be under the direct control of Prime Minister's Office(PMO)because it involves co ordination with five Indian Ministries. They are Agriculture ,Rural Development, Water Resources, Panchayat & Environment & Forests. K R Ramchandra, Dr. AK Sikka & Dr VK Bahuguna have joined the NRAA while JD Sharma & Gurbachan Singh are yet to join.

Ms Wadhwa appointed Ambassador to Qatar
Ms Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa presently Ambassador of India to Sweden, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Qatar. She is 1979 batch IFS officer.

A rare gesture by Bains!
In an extraordinary gesture, Harcharan Bains, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has decided to donate one Kanal plot from his ancestral property at Mahilpur (Hoshiarpur) to the patriotic national hero Kashmir Singh to help him have a house of his own. Kashmir Singh who called on the Chief Minister told Badal that he was having difficulty in finding a personal accommodation for him and his family as his old house in Nangal Khilarian was too small and was in a dilapidated condition. Badal immediately enquired from the Chief Secretary over the telephone as to the procedure for allotment of government land in Mahilpur. At this point Bains intervened to say that he and his family owned ancestral land some of which fell in quality residential areas and said that he would be more than happy to give one kanal free of cost to Kashmir Singh and his family for building a house. A beaming Badal lauded his media advisor's gesture and promptly offered government assistance to meet full expenses on the construction of a decent house on the piece of land given to Kashmir Singh by Bains. Later, Bains said that since the country lived only because heroes like Kashmir Singh were willing to die for it, this is the minimum that he could think of doing in this case. He said that since he belonged to Mahilpur, he would be available to Kashmir Singh for any further possible help that he could lend him. Bains has asked Kashmir Singh to get the formalities for the transfer of the plot completed immediately.

Female Governor should be appointed
Arjun Singh, Moti Lal Vora and Balram Jhakhar have served as Governors already. Mohsina Kidwai is a Congress stalwart and a leader of national stature. We should not forget that in post emergency elections the Congress had been routed in the North. The sole Congress M.P. in the Lok Sabha was Mrs. Kidwai. She served as Union Cabinet Minister in Rajiv Gandhi's Ministry as Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Transport Minister and Minister for Urban Development. There were no controversies or scandals in any of the Ministries during her tenure. She amply deserves a gubernatorial assignment. Moreover, now that the dust of regionalism has been raised by the Thakeray clan in Maharashtra, it is only appropriate that North is represented in Mumbai while Rashtrapati Bhavan is occupied by a Maharashtrian. With the Congress crying hoarse for reservation for women at least one female Governor can be appointed now.

No service is honest or dishonest
RK's comments that IRS are corrupt & lack competency, lack fundamental understanding of the department. He should have checked his facts before opening his mouth too wide. Public contact-the root cause of corruption has become minimal, due to less than 2%scrutiny of cases &direct credit of refund to the bank account. He should be beware of the power of IRS before making any such irresponsible remarks. No service is honest or dishonest. Everything depends on the values practiced by the society at any given point of time.

What is needed is a regulator on the Finance Ministry!!!!!

PM should have been the regulator but he's powerless,
No other Indian PM has been so helpless!!

And in the end we the taxpayer will bear the cost I fear!!!
