Pervez Dewan's term as Chairman cum Managing Director(CMD),India Tourism Development Coporation(ITDC)was extended owing to ongoing renovations in ITDC run Hotel Ashok Delhi.He is supposed to go on two years leave from April 2009.It may be stated that the Central Government has had agreed for ITDC to increase its authorized capital from Rs. 75 crore to Rs. 150 crore. ITDC which had worked out a plan to undertake a major renovation work in Hotel Ashok, New Delhi at a total cost of Rs. 146.35 crore,is getting implemented the same. The renovation plan project of Rs. 146.35 crores for renovating/upgrading the Hotel Ashok is envisaged to be funded @ 50% (i.e. Rs. 73 crore) through equity to be provided by Government of India and balance (i.e. Rs. 73.35 crore) is to be raised by ITDC through term loans from Banks/ Financial Institutions and internal resources.

CWC donates Rs. 53.79 lakh to PM's National Relief Fund
The employees of Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), a PSU under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Govt. of India have donated Rs. 28.79 lakhs by contributing their one day salary to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for welfare and rehabilitation of the recently flood affected persons in the country.Besides, the Corporation has also contributed of Rs. 25 lakhs under its Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme. MTNL presents Rs. 35.43 cr dividend to A.Raja
The state owned MTNL has presented a cheque for Rs.35.43 crores, to the Minister of Communications & IT, A. Raja in New Delhi towards 10% balance of final dividend for the Financial Year 2007-08. An amount of Rs.106.3 crores has already been handed over to the Government as 30% interim dividend towards the Government's share in the shareholding of the company. In its 22nd Annual General Meeting held on September 26,2008, MTNL approved payment of final dividend @ 40% (including 30% interim dividend already paid), amounting to Rs.252 crores, on the paid up equity capital of Rs.630 Crores for the financial year 2007-08.During 2007-08, MTNL's GSM subscribers have increased by 4,95,037 to 32,41,851 and are 36,77,782 as on 30th September 2008. During the year, the Broadband subscribers have increased by 1,01,145 and are 6,03,405 as on 30th September 2008. MTNL is making all out efforts to provide state of the art services to its customers at the most affordable prices. The period has also seen a significant growth in the subscriber base of services like IPTV, VOIP, etc. in both Delhi & Mumbai.MTNL has paid dividend @ 40% on its equity capital of Rs.630 Crores during last year also. During the last eight years, an aggregate amount of Rs.2173.50 Crores has been paid as dividend to all the shareholders out of which Rs.1222.52 Crores has been paid to the Govt. of India on their shareholding of 56.25% in the company.

Written Examaination For Promotion
There was a suggestion on the bord, that all Class A Services Should have writtem Examination for every promotion and new merit list drawn accordingly. The idea is novel and should be welcome as an individual grows or decyas at every stage. "Once for All" type of examination is indicator of merit at entry and is no gureantee that same inter-se merit exits till one salinates.
Army has this examination system. For Capt one has to pass Part B(Four Papers), for Major, Part D (five Papers) and for entry into Staff College (six papers) Cometitive exams.
Opportunities must exist for all members of all India Services to enter into the "elites within elites club" based on merits at successive stages. A real Dvija (Born twice) Concept as aginst "born only once".

What about the recommendation to have 50% in all ranks of IG and above. It is high time the govt wakes up to the legitimate aspirations of the officers of CPOs and not supress them any further. All these organisations are old enough and there is no dearth of capable officers to man these senior positions

Army officers are more concerned about their parity with Officers of other departments rather than the prospect of fighting a war. A CPO commandant was drawing 4500 basic in 4th CPC were as for an army officer it would have taken 22 years as they were in a running pay band of 2300-5400. Needless to say Col was below Commandant. Also their claim that Lt Col are commanding BN is a white lie. God bless our army which is only preoccupied with protocol

CAG's Audit
CAG's audit reports presented in the Parliament / State Assembly creates a deterent effect only on those Govt officials who follow the rules not to be corrupt. But, CAG cannot prevent the corrupt officers from being corrupt in any manner. Because, the corrupt officers will systematically create records but no work will be done. Some corrupt officers may not produce records and create delay. There is no provision for CAG to enfore production of records or response. CAG's audit is only 'postmortem' after the decay of the body. what is envisaged in constitution is not happening. So what is the use of such big organisation in stopping the corruption. CVC or CBI do only pointed work for procecuting a particular corrupt officer. they are also achiving nothing. CAG, CVC and CBI should work together to have some impact. Rules do not permit this probably.
