Meeting for the empanelment of 1976 batch IAS officers to the rank of Secretary in the Government of India is not taking place today. After getting vigilance clearance, it is now expected to take place on April 28.
Why delay in the appointment of TRAI Chief ?

UT Cadre 1982 batch IAS officer B Vijayan has reportedly been charge sheeted for disobeying the legitimate orders of the Government to join the Lakshadweep Administration from A&N Islands. It is a different matter that there are certain officers in the UT cadre who have till date not spent a single day in a hard posting and some of them for some ingenious
reasons or the other have not left Delhi for around a decade. Vijayan otherwise a brilliant officer who has spent a lot of time in the North East and other hard postings; had conveyed his difficulty due to personal family reasons. It is hoped that the MHA would take action against the hard posting defaulters in the UT cadre. It is learnt that an RTI in this regard of the number of hard postings of UT cadre IAS/IPS officers is also pending. Regarding the UT Cadre IPS officers it would take another page.
The jinxed 1990 batch of IAS officers
It seems that the 1990 batch is jinxed again. Earlier for the foreign training also the 1990 batch missed out going abroad and doing the compulsory training. Now in the empanelment for Joint Secretary also the batch is jinxed. The decision to revamp the empanelment procedure using retired officers for the 1990 batch has now been kept in abeyance indefinitely.

Post offices to undergo makeover: Radhika Doraiswamy
Indian Post Offices that bring to memory shabby buildings dumped with filthy records and an often ignorant and arrogant staff are all set to undergo a complete makeover. Talking to whispersinthecorridors.com, Secretary (Posts) & Chairman Postal Services Board and Director General India Post, Ms. Radhika Doraiswamy, said the initiative is to ensure that the post offices connect with the modern day requirements of the local population be it postal service, electronic mails, money transfers, financial services or any other assistance.
Ms. Doraiswamy said in the first phase all major post offices in the country are being modernized with proper infrastructure, furniture, computers and trained staff. The idea is to integrate different services and make post offices nodal centre for postal services, financial services, money transfers and bill payments.
When her attention was drawn to the increasing competition the department was facing from private courier services, she said this is a feature that is applicable to urban centres in India. Rural India still depends on India Post services to reach out to its near and dear ones. "Courier services have strengthened over resolve to improve our services and compete", she added. Citing an example she said that nearly 80 per cent of the department's revenues are generated from mail service and money transfer facilities. Moreover entire government mails are routed through the India Post services.
The department is updating its computer network and hopes to connect all post offices that would facilitate the customers to keep a track of their posts. Similarly a pilot project is underway to link financial services offered by the department and introduce core banking facilities. Once successful, the project would be replicated throughout the country, she added. This will help the customers to operate their accounts and manage their deposits whether Fixed or savings or PPF accounts in post offices from anywhere in the country. The department is also considering a proposal to provide ATM cards to its customers once the facility becomes operational.
What would make the modern post offices stand apart is the fact that they would be acting as centres providing assistance to the customers rather than simply being the service providers. For this post masters and postmen are already being oriented for multi-tasks. The postman besides simply being a deliverer of posts would be the point-person who could collect bills, remittances to near ones and take down e-mail messages. The postmasters would supervise all the activities and assist the staff and customers as and when required, said Ms. Radhika Doraiswamy.

I believe you resigned as an IAS officer from MP cadre and that is the reason why you are so biased in favour of all IAS and IPS officers particularly those from MP cadre. This is not fair. Your website became popular because of all civil servants irrespective of their services. You have also started giving more prominence to CMDs of central PSUs by posting their meaningless interviews.

Why price rise during elections?
If this is true than why the price of Sugar and all essential commodities have risen so high in the wake of elections? The Secretary and MD haven't joined recently. What have they been doing since last six months when even with near zero percent inflation the price of sugar, milk, rice, wheat, vegetables and most essential commodities have risen to new heights? We do not expect your esteemed site to flatter inefficient babudoms who only think that they are most efficient whereas they are just Koopmandooks, far away from the reality.

Speed up allocation of successful candidates
I sincerely request the concerned officers in DOPT to please speed up the allocation to Ministries of successful candidates who have cleared the SO Departmental examination 2005. Candidates in other cadres like Railways, MEA, AFHQ have already joined. this is a punishment for those belonging to the CSS. when the recruitment rules of all cadres are similar, why the differential treatment. Let the candidates of CSS also take up office in their respective ministries. this unwanted delay is causing a lot of stress and tension apart from financial loss to the employees. it is already two and a half years since the exam was conducted. the situation is very demoralising for those who have successfully competed and passed the examination. it is requested that Secretary, DOPT who is in-charge may please look into this and take a decision as early as possible. it is a humble appeal from all the aggrieved employees.
