Only four journalists had first hand information of Bhopal Gas Disaster
Even as 25 years have passed since the Bhopal disaster occurred when tones of Methyl-Iso-Cyanate and other lethal gases spewed out of the Union Carbide’s pesticide plant at Bhopal killing more than 3,500 people instantly and maiming several thousand others for life, few would be knowing that only four journalists of Bhopal were able to have the first hand information of what actually happened that fateful night. These journalists who could manage to contact J Mukund, who was Union Carbide Works Manager when the Tragedy occurred, around 4 AM on Dec 3, 1984, were Dr. Suresh Mehrotra (then working with Free Press Journal), Vijay Tewari (Navbharat Times), Pushp Raj Purohit (Hindustan Samachar) and Anees Chisti (News Time – Hyderabad). No other journalist could contact Mukund thereafter as he was arrested only few hours after the dance of death started on the streets of Bhopal leading to the killer factory.
Chisti who later wrote a book on Bhopal disaster has mentioned in his book that efforts of Dr. Sushil Trivedi , then posted as Press Officer to Governor, to help in investigation of the facts were extremely laudable at a time when few dared to go anywhere near the scene of disaster. Dr. Trivedi who retired as State Election Commissioner of Chhattisgarh helped these journalists reach the ill fated factory by driving them to the site of accident in his car.

Aaj Ki Aawaz

Pranab Da lost his temper when Opposition made a hue and cry on high price of cheeni!!
As per Pranab Da the Opposition was being meany!!!

As per Pranab Da the demand of sugar outstrips the production!!!
And till there is equilibrium Pranab Da says there will be no price reduction!!

But Pranab Da why did the Sarkaar not ensure that production kept pace with demand??
To do so Sarkaar has lots of measures at its command!!!

What if I say that prices were allowed to rise as Pawar was in the mood for this!!!
And then Mohna has accepted that price rise had Sarkaar’s asees (blessing)!!

And Pranab Da you lost your temper when Opposition took Sarkaar to task!!!
Won’t people who are drinking sugarless tea be hopping mad this question I’d like to ask?

Mark my words if this Sarkaar goes on in this heartless way!!
Then people in due course will make the Parties in the Sarkaar at the hustings pay!!

Isn’t it sadistic to first allow prices to rise and then rub salt in????
It’s like first punching someone in the stomach and then kneeing him in the chin!!

Chalo Ji Mohna, Sonia and Rahul know what they are doing!!!
All I can say is that Aam Aadmi who is facing the brunt of this price rise is booing!!!

Just see how our MP’s play hooky from the House!!!
And Speaker had her grouse!!!

MPs whose question were listed were playing hooky!!!!
Really ‘hadh ho chukki’!!!

Now in both Houses they say Sonia has appointed Attendance Keepers!!!
Who will keep a record of ‘the missing and the seepers (who slip out)!!!

Amar and Mulayam say they are 2 bodies but one jaan!!
So that means the jaan has four eyes, two mouths and chaar kaan!!

It’s a truce and more is to come!!!
Fact is a belligerent tune Amar ne kee hai hum!!!

And this episode has also shown that Mulayam is scared of Amar Singh!!
Because Mulayam accepted Amar’s sting!!!

He agreed ‘yes our overconfidence made us loose Ferozabad’!!!
Seems he did not hear Ferozabad’s cheers of Rahul zindabad!!

Why did it take so long to arrest Khoda???
Room he was to be held in was being spruced up with goodies including bar with daaru and soda!

He will give appointments for his interrogation!!!
And private jet was being arranged for any trips to be taken out of station!!!

Then everything was tested!!!
And when the QC certificate was obtained then only was he arrested!!

43% of Dubai ’s population are Indians …wow!!!
Another 8% and Indians can question ‘ what now’???

Just joking because in Dubai non Arabs have no rights!!!
Yes it is indeed unfairness ka height of heights!!

Now SMSs are being sent to India workers to inform them that they are fired!!!
However funny part is to send SMSs Indians have been hired!!

Confucius says….. Indians literally built Dubai !!!!
And changed their eating habits too… I’ve seen Arabs breakfasting on aloo paranthas and chai!!

To improve quality of bureaucrats and professionals…
To improve quality of bureaucrats and professionals, the first thing to do is to base their selection on merit and a psychological test since most of them have already been identified with one political party or the other. Secondly post-retirement extension or posting should not be given to bureaucrats..

Posted as Cabinet Secretary only who has two years service left

Only that person should be posted as Cabinet Secretary who has two years of service left. Why should officers be posted as Cabinet Secretary and be granted tenures far beyond retirement? In case that principle is to be followed for Cabinet Secretary, Home secretary, Defence secretary and Director CBI, then why not for the posts of Members and Chairmen of the Railway Board, Postal Board, Posts of Dy CAG, Members and Chairmen of Customs Board and Direct Taxes Board also? Why should they not partake of the fun? What is good for the goose must be good for the gander as well.

It is a great injustice

After implementation of 6th Pay Commission, the Scale of Rs.3050, 4000 and 4500/- have been merged and kept in the same Grade pay of Rs.2800/-. It is a great injustice with the employees working under the scale of Rs.4500-125-7000/- (pre-revised). In fact this scale is implemented in few organisations and a few numbers of employees are working in this scale in the Central Govt.

It is therefore advisable that the pre-revised scale of Rs.4500-125-7000/- can be abolished and may be marged in the pre-revised scale of Rs.5500-9000/- w.e.f. 01.01.2006

I don’t support the existing bureaucratic system
I think Choudhary has mistaken me if it is thought that I support the existing bureaucratic system of the country. My only point is that We in this country reach to generic conclusions very fast without debating the merits and demerits of the system unemotionally and without any specific identifications be it Service or other identification. There is a definite need for improvement in the existing system of governance(which includes political, judicial or other subsystems) which was basically devised by British for their colonial administrative needs. It is our sheer lethargy and to some extent vested interest that we make a lip service on administrative reforms and then do a little bit here and there rather than comprehensively looking at the systems and working on them. Consequently the whole administrative structure lacks a professional outlook. This in turn leads to high level of inefficiencies of the system, ineffective delivery of social programmes, leakages and wastages of resources. We also know that level of accountability are extremely thin in the government both for corrupt practices and for inefficiencies. This is leading to the perception of our bureaucracy being largely inefficient and ineffective though at individual levels many of the civil servants continue to outperform their colleagues. Hence for the system to adjust to the changing needs of the Country in the era of globalisation and liberalization the administrative setup needs to be reigned right from the lowest administrative unit up to topmost level and civil servants should not be afraid to discuss the issue dispassionately without invoking parochial interests across the services like the one being invoked against the proposed Direct Tax Code.
