Majority feels Obama is good for India
The whispersinthecorridors.com survey about the new President of United States of American Barack Obama has thrown open some interesting facts. Most of our surfers who wrote to us are of the opinion that India need not worry as Obama is pro-Indian and would not do anything to upset the increasing Indo-US relations. However, there are some e-mails that have cautioned us that people should not rush to judge Obama from his actions during the initial days of Presidency and that he would not stake his reputation and change age-old policies just to align with India.
Vivek Dhawan CEO Smriti Netcom says that Obama embodies the five principles namely Goal orientation, Planning, Creativity, Discipline, Hard work and Smart work that are essential for success.
India's geo-strategic location in a unipolar world, surrounded by untrustworthy (Read unscrupulous) neighbours like Pakistan and China, badly needed a friend like Obama. A man of action, endowed with Vision and Courage of conviction! He will surely prove to be a friend in need and a good samaritan indeed, writes A.K. Saxena retired civil servant. Obama would be good for India. However it all depends on our diplomats and their diplomatic skills, writes M.L. Gupta.
If he does not keep his mouth shut, and deliberate before taking decisions and making commitments, Obama will be bad for USA as well, what to say for India, writes Vijay Kumar.

It has no merits
It is interesting to see that the issue of raising of retirement age upto 65 years for government servant is being pursued despite lack of merits and solely on the plank of sympathetic consideration and with a view to help the "about to retire government servants" .It is well known fact that raising of the retirement age to 65 will only serve the interests of a few bureaucrats and will not add to the efficiency of the government business and adversely effect the interests of those ,who are aspiring to join the civil services .As of now , a sizable number of bureaucrats ,after their retirement manage to cling to power in the name of commissions ,committees , tribunals etc .Some bureaucrats even never retire in the name of continuity of job but it is actually continuity of purpose- the sole purpose is the continue in government service . Additionally ,it is required to extend it to every body who is in the government service, irrespective of their suitability and productiveness .It is time to say goodbye to this monopoly of government service by a few individuals in the national interests. All over the world ,in the wake of financial crisis , reforms being initiated and measures are being taken to implement cost effective administrative procedures and cutting down the wastages in the organizations including cutting of the posts , salaries and perks . Is there any sense in measures like increasing the retirement till 65 years at this juncture ? When can the interests of future generations and interests of the youth of this country are taken seriously ?.

Any conclusion would be premature
Please ask the experts to clarify what they mean by ground staff. The Air Traffic controllers? I only think any conclusion at this stage without full information on the issue, is premature.

Keep on jubilating Pals on this injustice met to your seniors. Soon you will realize how counterproductive would this decision prove for those (from amongst you) who are on the verge of promotion in particular and for the fraternity of the CSS service in General. Best wishes.
