IMAGINARY INTERVIEW WITH SONIA GANDHI

Sonia is in Oberoi Hotel's Wildflower Property near Shimla for her summer break and as usual I'm there, in an imaginary way, and again I get to do an imaginary interview with her.
Venue: The Coffee Shop
Me: May I first congratulate you on Congress's win.
Sonia: Thank you!!!
Me: First Madam did you expect such a win????
Sonia: Frankly no…. but I did expect BJP to do badly and this is what happened.
Me: But if BJP did badly wouldn't Congress be the gainer?
Sonia: Well you can say I was confident Congress would win.
Me: But tell me one thing if you were so sure of a win then why was Mr. Q cleared at such a sensitive juncture?
Sonia: This question you have to put to Mr. Bhardwaj…… as I understand Mr. Q wanted a closure to this Chapter as nothing more was forthcoming and Mr. Bhardwaj saw merit in his plea.
Me: Well then I'm sorry to note that he is no longer the Law Minister as a man with such sensitivity would have closed many 'dead end' cases!!!!
Sonia (making unpleasant face): Who is made or not made a Minister is Manmohan Ji's prerogative!!!
Me: And who gave him this prerogative ..... anyway next question....many felt that if Congress came with 'comfortable' numbers Rahul would be the PM.
Sonia: My first prerogative is to get him married and I've been trying to talk to him but when I broach the subject he starts running around with that stupid mutt of his Pidhi……. really this Pidhi is a bad influence on my 'Pidhi'!!! In fact to separate the two I brought Rahul's Pidhi with me.....the mutt's a handful!!!
Me: But Madam he could have at least become a Minister in Mohna's Cabinet!!!
Sonia: Well I did speak to him on this, but he refused. I feel that he does not want to be bound down by a Ministerial job.
Me: But Madam if he aspires to become PM he must gain administrative experience.....see Omar Adullah's condition!!!!
Sonia: Sometimes I get the feeling that he does not want to become the PM…….. and this worries me because after Mohn….sorry Manmohan Ji who will I make PM!!!!
Me: Shivraj …. Antony...….Miera Kumar.....
Sonia: Thank you for informing me about what I already know……… but Manmohan Ji jaisa koi nahi. He's tailor-made for this job! About the names you have taken …… well we'll cross this bridge when it comes!!!
Me: So you mean to tell me that Rahul will keep strengthening the Party…….. has he set a upper limit that he intends to achieve???
Sonia: I'll take a guess…….a total majority for Congress!!!!
Me: And If he achieves this then what???
Sonia: Well I hope he's married by then and I'm banking on his wife to talk him into becoming PM. After all which woman would not like to stand behind the Throne?????
Me: Madam now that Congress has the mandate what are the priorities of this Government?
Sonia: Well I'm consulting Mohna and we will be announcing a ten point programme. Also as the Opposition is in a disarray Congress Party will taken on the role of Opposition. You will see Congressmen asking questions in the House.
Me: Congress's fixation with ten point programmes.....how very innovative? Why don't you allot the house Advani's living in for 'life' ….. this could get BJP out of the internal woes that it is facing!!!
Sonia: BJP will have to work this out…….I'm sorry what would you like to have????
Me: Thought you'd never ask…… a black Coffee
Sonia (orders the Coffee and asks for a refill for herself): Tell me what are the people's expectations from this Sarkaar???
Me: India Shining inclusively. Hope you've not forgotten the rampant inflation that Aam Aadmi had to face.
Sonia: Yes but global pressures…….
Me: Madam you sound like BJP which when it is fighting elections talks of Hinduvta, Ram Mandir, common law etc., and once it comes to power all is forgotten. Congress kept promising Aam Aadmi to insulate him from inflation and now after winning you are saying global pressure cannot be ignored!!!
Sonia: We said that we are on the Aam Aadmi's side and will stand by him if inflation rises!!!
Me: I get the feeling that if prices rise Aam Aadmi will get lip service from this Sarkaar……. paper socialism!!! And Madam growth cannot be talked up and inflation cannot be talked down..... both are felt explicitly!!!
Sonia: Don't sound so morose….. here have some cake!!!!
Me: Madam you just sounded like Marie Antoinette……… Madam don't you feel that now sycophancy in Congress will know no bounds!!!!
Sonia: I'm working on a 'code of behaviour for Congressmen in Public' and rest assured in Public eye Congressmen will not indulge in sycophantic acts.
Me: Privately you would not mind Congressmen doing an AIADMK act……. hope you've seen AIADMK Members, young and old, prostrating in front of Jaya???
Sonia: No no……. I've never allowed this ……… but please discipline should not be mistaken as sycophancy
Me: Yes yes…….. Madam remember Public sabh dekthi aur jaanthi hai!!!! By the way will Congress now embark on a Indhra and Rajiv naming spree????
Sonia: Not at all ……...the Indhra Gandhi Research Foundation is doing a survey on 'Project naming and renaming' schemes, instalations, roads, villages, towns and Cities after Indians who have done India proud and this will be done under the Rajiv Gandhi Naamkaran Yojna!!!! Now its time for me to go…… I have an appointment with Congressmen from Shimla!!!!
As she gets up to go I hear chants ' Pidhi ji ki jai ho'……. ' Pidhi ji aage chalo hum aap ke saath hai' and Sonia looks back at me embarrassingly and hurries out. I strain and look out and I see Rahul's dog Pidhi being taken for a stroll and Congressmen following Pidhi shouting slogans.

Obsessed with Gandhi phobia

Like many others, including media, you too seem to be suffering from Ghandiphobia. Please do not aid this propaganda, which aims at making us believe that only Gandhi family can save this country. It is not undemocratic but ani-democratic. 28 year old raw person not knowing what is politics heading the second largest political party in the largest state in India! Not very prudent idea. Among other things it may spoil his political career.

Transfers of IT officers

I agree with the thought that income tax postings are tilted in favour of the movers and shakers in relaxation of policy with no thought for those covered by policy. A case in point is that of lady officers not being allowed to invoke the spouse clause.

Competition in bureaucracy for expenditure needed

I agree .I think people within the bureaucracy would also agree from within. That is the reason there is so much of difference in results from expenditure. There is need for introducing competition within the civil service.

What a drain on public money?

One menace, which is eating away the taxpayers money in a big, is the misuse of office perks & facilities by the officials and Ministers over & above their entitlements including from the public sector undertakings and attached/subordinate offices. Cars are provided for dropping of children to schools/universities & back and also for the Madames to go to the market & to the kitty parties. Telepones are used to make personal calls. Staff members are used to perform domestic chores against all rules. When this happens a lot of hurt burn takes place amongst the Government servants who are honest. A sense of egoism, feudalism and obstinacy develops amongst people who misuse office perks and facilities. Some of them even prostrate before their superiors and start bullying their juniors. If less of vehicles will run on roads we will not only be saving on money & fuel but also reduce the atmospheric pollution. The overstaffing and understaffing problem
will also go away if there is right kind of deployment of personnel. Why should we give benefit to the telephone companies from out of the Government exchequer by way of unofficial calls?

BJP -fight for Supremacy

For those who think that Rajnath Singh is the ultimate saviour of BJP let me tell you he is the most insecure person in the party. He will not compromise with any threat to his position within the party and makes it pretty sure that the party is not in a disarray especially in his home state of Uttar Pradesh, as there are many people who can rise from the state to challenge his authority. It is in his own personal interest that BJP is in the 4th position in the state. His insecurity led him to give 6 seats to the RLD so that he can secure his Ghaziabad seat in with RLD's Jat votes. The BJP lost in UP due to poor role as an opposition where it dare not raise any voice against the misdeeds of the autocratic government here. Samajwadis are more prompt when it comes to take out a procession or raise any voice. This is the state of affairs which made BJP the party it is today and if the leaders of the party do not understand the vices of its President it will
go into oblivion in UP. How does it matter? Go ahead other country thinking to have flat at moon we are still thinking chota chota .We must utilise him in proper way as chota thinking can get attraction but not good for country future we should be thinking for the country first then rest...see then result it will come best
