No challengers for Rahul in this country of 100 crores - whisper's survey
Rahul Gandhi, the face of a new resurgent Congress, seems to have no challengers as far as present day politics is concerned. He stands tall among all competitors in his own party and the opposition, according to inputs received from our surfers on our survey about the best challenger to Rahul Gandhi. Meanwhile, an overwhelming majority of e-mails support Rahul Gandhi and his policies to bring about transparency in the organization while some root for projection of Varun Gandhi, the only other name thrown up.
A large number of e-mails received by us suggest that they are totally in agreement with the idea of Rahul Gandhi to strengthen the organization, bring about a generational change and give more weight-age to youth and ordinary people to take up politics as an honest profession. Most of them suggest that as long as Rahul and his intentions are honest he will have no problem. They cautioned that he will however have to guard himself from coterie and sycophancy and keep himself above board.
Some the responses are as follows-
What are Rahul Gandhi's credentials? Yes, he won the elections-but what was his constituency? If he is well meaning, and desirous of giving a direction to the nation's politics, he should first democratise his party. Now more than ever is sycophansy and fiefdom at display.

There is no any leader in opposition parties to compete with Rahul until unless he stops the uderstanding of Indian public and become careless for the people of India. Unique one, otherwise 'time and tide waits for none'shoul always be in his mind.Aam adami of India is fed of dhurt politicians and cheaters will have no mre chance to enjoy on the public money.

In my opinion, BJP may probably project Varun Gandhi against Rahul Gandi as a youth leader to counter the later.
Mammen Varghese
vampireishere@rediffmail.com
Except BJP, other opposition parties are not so keen to field a person to counter Rahul Gandhi. First, BJP has tried Varun Gandhi, but failed utterly due to his communal utterance. However, probability is that BJP may again field Varun Gandhi, with a semi secular face or mask, to counter the great influence of Rahul Gandhi.

Pawar is in London …… ICC , 'personal business' and relaxing!!!!!
To him alarming situation back home Agriculture Ministry must be faxing!!!
Mohna needs to talk to this dolt and make it abs clear that he better get his act in order!!!
And tell him that like last time ( UPA1) it's not a plea but an order!!!!
Though some say Pawar is rubbing his hands in glee!!!
'An opportunity to make lots and lots of hay' karr raha hai Pawar see!!!!
Get ready for 'red aata' and rotten rice!!!!
And its we Indians who will pay the price!!!
Draculas usually suck blood directly!!!
But there are some who do this indirectly!!!
And mind you for Pawar's attitude, mishandling and hay making Congress will be blamed!!
So Mohna Ji this Drac…. Pawar needs to be tamed!!!
Hope Sonia has realized that UPA2 is perceived to be a Congress Sakraar!!!!
So Congress will get the bouquets ka pyaar and brickbats ki maar!!!
Pawar needs to be put in place so shift him from his present portfolios to Civil Aviation!!!
He and his sidekick's mishandling and hay making will not affect the Nation!!!!
Okay Air India's Maharaja will become a pauper or bhikari!!!!!
And in the aviation private sector there will be maara maari!!!!
But if you compare the damage Pawar is doing in Agri , Food and Civil Supplies!!!!
The damage he'll do in Civil Aviation will be pittance if dimaag Mohna applies!!!!
And Rahul Baba if Laloo was shown his place in Bihar then in Maharshtra Pawar deserves the same!
Pawar is bringing on Congress Laloo kind of shame!!
BJP needs to forget about everything and attend to the looming 'dry spell'!!!!!

During this trying period for him I'll put my dislike for him 'at rest'!!!!
Had a Lady been raped by four men would these four been allowed to roam free????
Double standards in a Delhi rape case involving four cops we are getting to see!!!
Okay even if there are gaps in her statement but first action usually is to arrest!!!
And then the case is put to test!!!!
But in India Netas, Judges and Cops are like holy cows!!!!
And the law that they swear to uphold to them this very law bows!!!
'Table' inflation is going up and up and if rains fail will go through the roof!!!!
Sorry to repeat but our Minister for Agri, Food and Civil Supplies cares a hoof!!!

Amend the constitution
"It is high time to amend the constitution to prevent the existing politicians from putting their children in positions of power such as MPs, MLAs and ministers. Such a debarment should be at least for 10 years. After that gap, it may be alright for their children to come forward on their own and contest if they like to, on the strength of their personal contribution to the task of nation building and sizable quantum of selfless work to the society in any field. Certainly, it is time we do so to save the country and to induct fresh talent that I believe is abundantly available outside these political families. Incidentally, I don't see any noticeable or particular merit in various persons hitherto put in such positions in the last 10 years by their politician parents."
Let me also place on record my appreciation to you for organising wonderful debates through your website.

When will the one service rule come to an end ?
This country has seen the end of one party rule, long back, in its political system. It is high time to end the one service rule in Indian bureaucracy and usher in the rule of meritocracy by offering a fair and equitable opportunity to the officers across all organized services. So far it is the service tag which decides all higher appointments as the players and judges happen to be from one particular service who will ensure, in their own interests, that competitiveness, fair play and professionalism are always kept at bay. In this environment, it does not come as a surprise, when Indian bureaucracy is rated amongst worst in Asia. Do the so called leaders of civil service still feel proud of themselves or is it only their arrogance?

Is it a rational public private partnership in developmental process?
There is a declining trend in rainfall and snow in high altitude area in its normal season. This year there was unusally no snow in traditional snow bound areas . Weather pattern has changed yet we see tons and tons of fumes of soil and smoky cloud generated by thousands of diesel trucks in power project areas, instead of cloud of rain and snow overcasting the sky of Himalyan zone. Snow fed rivers are shrinking and has reached to the dangerously low level in Govindsager lake a source for irrigation in Punjab & northern states. Shall we call this a rational public private partnership in developmental process? This degradation of natural resources and wrecking havoc with ecology by private partners is visible to everyone if one happens to go to such places. Yet the trend is increasing in the name of infrastructural development. I believe that the situation will be more alarming and there will be amass migration of people from high altitude area in search of water and food very soon.

Sexual harassment and bias aplenty in Indian Armed forces
The Indian Armed forces is a male bastion and there are plenty of cases of sexual harassment and bias. But unfortunately there is not a single lady member from Defence Forces in the Tribunal. It would be a mockery when everybody is cheering for having a woman as Lok Sabha speaker & one as president of India. Who is there in the Tribunal to look after sexual exploitation cases? Further to add: there is separate & lower Grade of Lady Military Nurses compared with same rank of male military officers despite 6th Pay Commission recommendations that such disparity should go forever. Where will these military Nurses will go for justice?
In 1947 Winston Churchil Said " After Britishers India will be ruled by Scoundrels". I think he is not totally wrong. Here everybody looks after his own interest only and that is why there was no concept of India when Mughals, Britishers, French & Portugese invaded this country.

Hi Ms Tilottama, I am very happy as you are staying another two year as a DIG (CBI).

Let us not blame Sonia Gandhi but, let us , at least, amend the constitution of India. I get morning sickness every day, which grows worse by the hour! I am allergic to seeing the newspapers carrying full-page advertisements put in by Union ministries, departments , government organizations , PSUs etc. with the photograph of Madam Sonia Gandhi along side that of our helpless Prime Minister trumpeting the achievements as perceived by them ! Doctors say, fault does not lie with me. Too much familiarity breeds contempt !
Each page of advertisement costs lakhs of rupees of tax payers' money. I have been persistently raising this seemingly innocuous issue on this website on ground of principles and not with apathy towards anyone. But, Editor-in-chief says : I am cynic ! My opposition is: that, since, Madam Sonia Gandhi is the Chairperson of UPA, a position , not recognized by the Constitution of India , spending government money on her advertisement is not appropriate. No formal orders appointing her as the Chairperson of UPA have been issued by the GOI.
My short question to the intellectuals, editors, political analysts, jurists, Constitutional law experts and, of course, the retired civil servants, not rewarded with any post-retirement parking is: "Whether spending money from the Consolidated Fund of India, is justified in the given situation, to promote the interests of a political party"!!! I am surprised at the studied silence of the Financial Advisors ,attached to various ministries who approve the expenditure on such advertisements as also the Constitutional Authority like the C&AG. In halcyon days ,the posts of FAs used to be invariably manned by officers of Accounts Services like IA&AS, IRAS etc who exercised 'financial prudence'. These positions are now being held by the ubiquitous IAS officers, who are not able to stand their grounds before political masters. Since, the Cabinet Secretary , the senior-most civil servant is under obligation of 10-Janpath for his extended tenure in violation of rules, his views are of new consequence ! Depending upon the inputs received on this website , the question of amending the Constitution of India, could be taken up by the GOI. Let me hope, the Editor-in-chief, gives space to my views on his website in the interest of transparency. I hope, the contents of this piece does not conflict with the editorial policy of the website, for being anti- establishment !
