I compliment Dr Suresh Mehrotra for his Rahul-bhakti ! I am not aware about the size of the "sample" used for conducting the survey and the statistical tools applied to arrive at the conclusion, which was on the expected lines. So, in the ultimate analysis, Rahul Gandhi alone could challenge Rahul Gandhi ! In these circumstances, I have a suggestion for the Congress party (Read as Madam Sonia Gandhi).Let Rahul Gandhi straight-away start working as the Deputy Prime Minister of India, as an under-study to Dr Man Mohan Singh so that the switch-over is smooth and hassle-free in the face of serious contenders who are masquerading as his friends! He would also learn. How to control the corrupt bureaucracy? The bureaucrats used to tremble before Madam Indira Gandhi (the greatest Prime Minister, India has ever produced) who hated sycophants and respected her detractors ! Dr Suresh Mehrotra is bound to be picked up as Rahul Gandhi's Media Advisor. I wish both of
them well. But, then, what will happen to our Website which is going to hit one crore browsers, soon! I shudder at this recurring fantasy !!!

No challengers for Rahul in this country of 100 crores - whisper's survey
Rahul Gandhi, the face of a new resurgent Congress, seems to have no challengers as far as present day politics is concerned. He stands tall among all competitors in his own party and the opposition, according to inputs received from our surfers on our survey about the best challenger to Rahul Gandhi. Meanwhile, an overwhelming majority of e-mails support Rahul Gandhi and his policies to bring about transparency in the organization while some root for projection of Varun Gandhi, the only other name thrown up.
A large number of e-mails received by us suggest that they are totally in agreement with the idea of Rahul Gandhi to strengthen the organization, bring about a generational change and give more weight-age to youth and ordinary people to take up politics as an honest profession. Most of them suggest that as long as Rahul and his intentions are honest he will have no problem. They cautioned that he will however have to guard himself from coterie and sycophancy and keep himself above board.
Some the responses are as follows-
What are Rahul Gandhi's credentials? Yes, he won the elections-but what was his constituency? If he is well meaning, and desirous of giving a direction to the nation's politics, he should first democratize his party. Now more than ever is sycophancy and fiefdom at display.

There is no any leader in opposition parties to compete with Rahul until unless he stops the understanding of Indian public and become careless for the people of India. Unique one, otherwise 'time and tide waits for none' should always be in his mind. Aam adami of India is fed of hurt politicians and cheaters will have no more chance to enjoy on the public money.

In my opinion, BJP may probably project Varun Gandhi against Rahul Gandi as a youth leader to counter the later

Mammen Varghese
vampireishere@rediffmail.com
Except BJP, other opposition parties are not so keen to field a person to counter Rahul Gandhi. First, BJP has tried Varun Gandhi, but failed utterly due to his communal utterance. However, probability is that BJP may again field Varun Gandhi, with a semi secular face or mask, to counter the great influence of Rahul Gandhi.

194 crores spent on statues..... collosal waste by Maya!!!!
And Mulayam has vowed he'll flatten the statues agar power mein aaya!!!
BSP should pay for statues of Maya and Kanshi Ram!!!!!
Why is public footing statues ka daam???
Yes where are the reforms that Mohna had vowed!!!!
Well the vows were prior to results and by results Mohna ho gaya hai 'wowed'!!
Administrative and Judicial reforms are now in the cold box…. thandaa basta!!
In both haalath is very khastaa!!
And now as 'there is no numbers ka pressure' Congress is going back on quite a few vows!!!
And Congress simply does not have the guts to take on the 'holy cows'!!!
Kapil Sibal forgets his priority should be education for all!!!!
But seems he's not ready to take this call!!!!
He prefers to tinker with education rather than take illiteracy head on!!!
Down the wrong road he's gone!!!!
This Budget will be an indicator of this Sarkaar's mindset!!!!!!
And this will be a populist Budget is my bet!!!
Hope Pranab Da draws a balance between two securities… Defence and Food!!!!!
Because this year Monsoon seems to be in a sour mood!!
Defence Ministry procurements can be delayed for a year or two!!!
In problematic times this would be the right thing to do!!!
The 'gravy train' can wait for a year!!!!!
Though those on the 'gravy train' have a lot to fear!!!

Like the Oil splurge by the Sarkaar ..... use as much as you want is the norm!!!
All know this below zero inflation is just a sham,
High prices have already got people in jam!!
Seems Sarkaar wants to hike prices of fuel and gas..... why jump the gun????
Let fuel prices beyond $ 70 barrier run!!!!
We pay taxes for Government's expenditure like bridges and roads!!!
Then for these humm pe cess and toll Sarkaar loads!!
Winter has shrunk ….. arrives later and its getting less colder every year!!!

Plight of CAT cases
The position of CAT cases dealing with service matters in all States is very pathetic. The disposal of cases in CAT benches is taking quite long time like civil cases. In fact the principle for setting up CAT benches for the speedy redressal of grievances of Central Government employees is defeated. The Law Ministry should think in this regard and to come out with some relief measures. We hope that something will be done atleast now as more than 45000 cases are apparently pending for justice.

Cadre Review in Customs and Central Excise
Why is CBEC not doing the cadre review? Are they inefficient ? What is the new Dte of HRD doing? Is the implementation of GST going to put a death knell on this organisation? Is that the reason for not doing the cadre review? Finance Minister- are you listening?

I agree with the views published on this site except that Rahul Gandhi be made Deputy Prime Minister. Rahul Gandhi has a long innings to play so what is a hurry?

Cadre review in CPOs
DOPTs website is an eye opener. It is a big surprise that no cadre review has been carried out in BSF after 1989. The DO written by CS all secretaries seems to be gathering dust. With such apathy being shown to these poor officers the morale is sure to take a beating.

Govt should clarify on travel by Air
The sixth pay commission allowed LTC travel by flight with a rider that it should be by Lowest Economic Class fare, but in December 2008 the clarification was issued that it would be as per NACIL rate which are artificially low and even specified for sectors which are not covered by Indian Airlines. This has caused lot of hardships to people who went on LTC with their family by Air on the pretext that they will get benefit from government. Can government do something and clarify the matter in the larger interest.

Rahul Gandhi should keep track of the past
At present there is no true challenge to Rahul Gandhi. I recall that in eighties, there was no challenge to Late Rajiv Gandhi till the time he continued to associate the young team he selected , who were loyal and devoted to him. But some sweet tongue persons encircled him and distanced him from his team. Result he could not get true and unbiased advice and he was out of power. The young and devoted team of late Rajiv Gandhi is still there, who are now in mid forties and early fifties. They remained with him in difficult of the times. To make the future secure, Rahul Gandhi is to keep track of the past -- make optimum use of the experience of time tested brigade of Late Rajiv Gandhi.

Old should make way for …
Rahul Gandhi clearly advocated the need for political participation of the younger generation, to make the country a resurgent and a vibrant nation. It is time for the old to make way for a generation which has both vision and clarity.

Govt should encourage professionals
Why is that government not encouraging professionals in the companies like Air India? Our experience of Central Public Sector shows that all the PSU's which are now being managed by core professionals like Nationalized Banks, PSU's like NTPC, IOC, BHEL, PFC, BEL, SAIL etc are doing extremely well and have been able to infact ride through the economic recession Why should an non-accountable system be allowed to continue? Can anybody shed a light on this mystery?

For The Eyes Of The Finance Minister Please
---------------------------
Dear Finance Minister,
Your wide ranging consultations with industry, business and the economic editors is getting usual publicity. It is fuelling all kinds of speculations regarding reduction in personal as well as corporate taxes and incentives for exports. All this leads to a very boring speech in the parliament, making any FM gulp a few glasses of water and moments of shero-shayari of the product of the poetasters genre. Well the speech writers certainly deserve to be clapped.
But, Sir, what the aam aadmi expects your budget to do is to announce measures by which you shall reduce generation of black economy in India, say by 0.5% or 1% at least in the fiscal 2009-10.None of your predecessors has ever done so and you shall be the first to achieve this fantastic success. You need not bother about personal/corporate taxes, since we shall be able to somehow pull through if it contributes to your success in reducing black money/ black economy/black governance and black administration to the extent proposed.

Anger against Mayawati is justified
People are justified in being angry at the way in which Mayawati (Megawatti) has been spending public money for her own promotion by putting up her own statues. At the same time, people need to remember that the Congress party spent hundreds of crores of public funds (estimated over 400 crores) in advertisements in media where the picture of their President who does not even have any constitutional position were displayed prominently. This type of promotion continues even now and Govt. has once again started releasing advertisements with her picture and of other people. The party has double standards as it criticizes mayawati.
It is really sad that the bureaucrats involved and the people at large are not protesting against such illegal use of public funds for private promotion.

A good news
It is a good news that the resignation of Arun.Bhatnagar has not been accepted. All the professionals welcome this decision of the government.. Now it is an opportune time for him to take strong decisions to give a new life to already dying AIR/TV & to make them purely professional and free from malpractices, highly paid Officers, Babus, who do not know ABC of programme Production, come to Doordarshan with empty suitcases and leave with loaded suitcases after 2-3 years.
