The general elections are round the corner and the bureaucrats have started making their own assessments as to who would rule the country in the days to come. We tried to elicit the views of bureaucrats across the country. They feel …………

PSU staff has a very valid point
The staff working Government of India (GOI) run public sector undertakings (PSUs) has a valid axe to grind against GOI officers & employees as their pay revision has been slow & they do not get any pension benefits. However, it has now widened many folds.

IRS officers a quite sore
As the grapevine has it Indian Revenue Service(IRS)officers are unhappyt with powers that be in Government over the delay in forwarding the Annual Confidential Reports(ACRs) and the Vigilance
clearance of IRS officers (from the 1982 batch to the 1988 batch) to the Department of Personnel & Training (DOPT) for empannelment as Joint Secretary. The IRS Association had also pitched in and had made two requests, as early as 2 months back, but it seems to have, had no affect on higher ups. Informed sources say that during the current year 1990 batch of the IAS would get empannelled as Joint Secretary. Even other services are far ahead than the IRS where officers only upto 1981 batch have been empannelled. For instance IDAS is empanneled till 1987 batch; IAAS till 1987 batc; IPS till 1988 batch etc. Will the new Chairman do anything about it so that the career of at least 500 officers were not compromised?"

Earth Hour - Need of the Hour
"Earth Hour", an international event conceived and initiated by WWF is a praiseworthy move. To some extent, WWF has succeeded in goading and encouraging us all over the world to observe Earth Hour in a year by switching off non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour. This significant move has raised awareness among the people around the globe to take some action against the climate change. Earth Hour was observed on 28th March, 2009 between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm.
It is reported in newspapers that on this day Delhi city itself saved 600 MW. Besides WWF, respective countries should come forward and campaign vigorously to save our living planet. It is the need of the hour to create awareness among people towards climate change. Our Government should work out modalities to observe Earth Hour in India and encourage people all over the country to switch off the lights in offices, factories, houses etc. when not in use, especially during lunch hours. We all need to be sensitive towards this aspect. This will help us save huge amount of money. I am of the view that Government of India should evolve a mechanism to keep a check in its offices and see that economy measures are taken to save electricity in its offices Save This Living Planet For Our Posterity.

BJP & Cong should join hands to form national govt
The need of the hour (in these times of economic recession and worsening security environment) is for the BJP and Congress to come together and form a national government with a common minimum programme. If this can be done for two terms in succession all the smaller, so called national parties like SP, BSP,NCP will disintegrate and join the mainstream national parties (read BJP and Congress) for sheer survival as these smaller parties cannot retain their "leaders" who will want to join the ruling parties to remain in power, to sustain their politics and "earn" the money to fight the next elections. The country can then look forward to a two party democracy and one party ruling with clear majority and not rag-tag opportunistic coalitions.

Many agree with Varun !
There are crores in this country who feel, rightly or wrongly, the same Varun has said. Many politicians and media persons, who are not lesser evil, feel the same. Only they do not have the courage to say it publicly or are too cunning to do so lest it should close their shop. Be it as it may, this country can survive as a secular country in true sense where it is duty of the majority to protect the minority in every way as much it is duty of the minority to respect the sentiments of the majority. It can happen if politicians allow this.

AGT has no linkage with Family obligation
So called AGT appears to have no linkage with Family obligation (especially schooling)of the Officers (especially NON IAS/IPS civil servants). How it is assumed by Ministry (read respective Boards)that kids would be given admission just because they are kids to the officers. Don't bring the lamb excuse of Kendriya Vidyalaya especially when many of them are not upto the mark (though some of them are amongst the BEST). Can some uniformity be achieved, like issue order in Feb/March and be effective from April or so! This way the family gets breathing time and unnecessary expenditure on school fee at both places can be avoided.

What about other Prime Ministerial aspirants
It does not look fair when you say there should be debate between PM Monmohan and Advani being the two Prime Ministerial candidates as per your view. What about other politicians who are eyeing for the high office? Most of the Prime Ministers nearer the elections have been challenged by opposition leaders to have a live debate. Did Vajpayee agree? Did Rajeev agree to VP's suggestion? Ours is not a presidential form of democracy like the US wherein two candidates for the top job.
Such debate, if invited between PM and just one leader of one particular party, will invite public wrath and will be rated as highly undemocratic. Country is full of more capable leaders than respected Advani and live debates will not yield anything concrete rather than giving publicity to just one/two leaders.

Stability in Indian politics is need of the hour
In my views, the stability in the Indian politics is very essential these days, especially, when there has been threat from terrorism and other elements across the border. One of the National party must be allowed to rule the country and their work be looked into by general masses making deciding factor in the next general elections. Certainly, politics in India should be clean and clear in all respects.
-Election Commission must make additions that "The nominations of the individual will be summarily rejected for Election, if they initiate any communal aspects during their campaign. The issues should be only of National Issues like poverty, economy, foreign policy, industrial policy and uplifting the common citizens of India.
