Altogether 14 IAS officers in the country are superannuating by this month end. Case of A K Jain dismissed
In a detailed judgement, Justice VK Bali , Chairman of CAT has dismissed the case of AK Jain, Member (Finance), Prasar Bharti against the order of the Government directing him either to resign from the IAS and get absorbed in Prasar Bharti or to revert back to his parent cadre of Nagaland. Jain has been given 15 days time by CAT to give his option. It will be recalled that there is serious tension between Jain and Lalli, CEO of Prasar Bharti. Jain has accused Lalli of serious financial irregularities.

The first glimpse of the new CMS program is now available on the IRS website in form of uploaded profiles showing history of postings. This is the basic data on which several dynamic MIS reports can be generated. All IRS officers have been asked to review their profiles and point out errors / lapses etc, if any, by May 25, 2009, so that they can be immediately corrected.

CBDT responsible for IT Commissioner's death
Kai Sang, a Commissioner of Income Tax died , yesterday at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. He was all alone at the time of his death, since CBDT made sure that the family remains separated. Despite clear court rulings against CBDT in all cases of transfer of Officers , and despite Kai Sang not spending more than 2 years in Delhi, a reckless CBDT would have him transferred eventually leading to his death. Make an honest enquiry how many representations Kai Sang made against his transfer, how many hours he was made to sit along side peons at North Block , and for what? CBDT should sit up and introspect as to whether its right for a department to pronounce to the world that 2 out of every 3 officer wants a change , and that every officer should live in constant fear of transfer.

A better proposal would be to frame Retirement rules as under:
1. All government employees shall retire on completion of 42 years of government service, or at the age of 65 years whichever is earlier.
This would be uniform, simple and fair to all.

Of late, I've noticed some (alleged?) BSF officers ranting about their grievances and claiming that if their demands (which are never clearly articulated), are not met, they will enact a BDR style revolt. A post by "NK" just yesterday again made such a threat. In the first place, such threats will result only in disaster. Perhaps this is just venting of frustration, but such words only prove beyond a doubt that the BSF cadre is incapable of heading a force of this size. It is better that the force is led by the IPS, if this is the mentality of its "officers". I would advocate moderation, and a proper airing of views, rather than such rash statements and threats.
