survey: Thumbs up for Rahul Gandhi The "Nehru-Gandhi"
family still seems to be the binding force in the Congress Party. All demands
and talks within the party for a strong second line of succession and projection
of regional leaders come to a halt the moment the name of a member of the Nehru-Gandhi
family is projected. There is no dispute on leadership and everybody (whether
senior or junior, young or old) falls in line. Is this due to the tight hold of
the family on the party's affairs or dynastic rule as the opposition alleges or
lack of good leaders within the Congress Party. We decided to seek opinion from
our surfers in a survey about who would make the best Prime Minister among the
Congress leaders and why? The result of the survey has been startling as a majority
backs Rahul Gandhi, the youthful face of the Congress and its present general
secretary for the top post. What is surprising is that Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka
Gandhi too have greater approvals than the present Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
or senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee. While Sonia Gandhi had declined
the post of Prime Minister in 2004 and still appears to be in no mood to give
into pressures from party men and Priyanka to suggesting to be away from politics
for now the spotlight has turned to Rahul Gandhi. The surfers have rated him as
the best bet for the future of Congress. He is considered to be honest, charismatic
and youthful. His only drawback - Rahul is considered a novice in politics and
they want him to mature as a politician before taking on the big job. Despite
his lack of experience Rahul Gandhi is favoured by the majority over the present
lot of Congress leaders or the leaders in the opposition ranks and files. Of the
317 responses we received roughly 171 (about 53 per cent) have voted for Rahul
Gandhi followed by Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra. Manmohan Singh follows next
with about 68 people (about 21 per cent) having approved his policies. Just seven
per cent believe that Pranab Mukherjee would make a good Prime Minister while
three per cent have approved A.K. Antony for the post. Some responses Rahul
has a charismatic personality. He knows how to address the masses like his grand
mother, late Indira Gandhi and his father, late Rajiv Gandhi. Besides this, he
has vision to build India further like what Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru did for India.
In addition to these, he has the shortcoming i.e he is bachelor. That is why stalwarts
treat him as a new entrant in the political system. Ashok Chadha Not
only Rahul but also Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Vadara are leaders, they are only
Umbrellas under which all congressmen feel safe and secure to do fulfill their
personal ambitions except national ambitions. There cannot be any other umbrella
in the Congress at any cost. S C Sharma Young and energetic Prime
Minister may do more good in all spheres of people of India P. Gangadharan The
congress party today runs like a private Ltd., company. If he is chosen as their
leader, that's their internal matter. However, if he is thrust upon center stage,
then what is the administrative or political experience that he has? NIL. So,
that's how things will move accordingly! Rajesh Deshmukh Rahul Gandhi
as an individual appears to be fine gentleman. As a politician he needs to learn
many tricks of the trade. Indian politics in its present form is the most complex
phenomena, where no one can predict whether votes will make the government or
notes will save it. Rahul need to concentrate on core issues confronting our country.
He has to spell out priority to address core issues. As a politician, if he has
to succeed, he needs to come out of the shadow of Gandhi family and prove his
acumen at his own. In the present scenario there is no dearth of talent in our
country and Dr Manmohan Singh has proved it. Manmohan What I strongly
believe is that Mr. Rahul Gandhi is benign, intelligent, proactive and prompt
in life with all humanity/compassion in him. Harcharan Singh Bhalla In
my lifetime I have heard one quotation 'Nanak Naam Chadti Kalan' - means name
of the Nanak is enough for getting one's ship through. The same is the quotation
application for Congress party, where 'Gandhi' name is enough for them to remain
as a flock together. Ashok Kumar Bhimani Well Rahul Gandhi is not
the best leader, he lacks expertise, though he will have a vision. But if he stays
actively in politics, he can make significant contributions and next elections
he will be more qualifying for Prime Minister. Rajni Raina J

Ki AaWAZ BJP's exit polls say it's ahead!! I still feel both
Congress and BJP are head to head!!! Congress looks cautious as it feels 'it
is too close to call'!!! Cliffhanger iss ko karte hai call!!! BJP's dream
of reaching 160 is too farfetched!!!! Imagination someone really stretched!!
BJP's own exit poll does not give it 160
140 and thereabouts!!!! Don't
know this 160 figure how Venkaiah touts!!! Nitish has 'local compulsions'
and so he's sticking to NDA!!!! But he's not closed his mind to UPA insiders
say!!! Advani sent him BJP's exit poll details!!! But Nitish still has
in the back of his mind ' what if BJP fails'???? After all Nitish is an experienced
warhorse and knows self exit polls usually lie!!! So Advani's gung-ho theory
Nitish does not buy!!! So in Public he's going to say he's with NDA but mentally
door is ajar!!! And Sharad Yadav has made the grounds saying ' Modi for PM
does jar'!!! Modi as PM will only be possible if in Gujarat riots either his
name is cleared, Or to a victory by Modi BJP is steered!! At present Political
Parties have a Modi allergy because of their Muslim Vote Banks!!! Any pro
Modi stance and they know Muslim Vote tanks!!! Modi has to get his game plan
in place
.. patriotism and development pitch!!! And also show he's not
just pro rich!!! His baiters say ' if Modi becomes PM Indian PM will not be
able to go to UK or USA '!!! Well they should rethink what they say!! Once
he's India 's PM US and UK will change their stand!!!! They'll be first to
extend friendship ka hand!! And when getting a US and UK visa is no qualification!!!
Can Visas to these Countries be cause for disqualification???? ' Why can't
I become PM' Mayawathi's pitch???? BSP not expanding as she had expected is
the biggest hitch!!! Indians biggest worry if she becomes PM
.her statue
fixation!!! We'll be known as 'statues' ka Nation!! And then she'll ensure
that her birthday is a Global event!!!! To all Indian High Commissions 'hold
birthday Party' order will be sent!!! Invitation Cards will specify
..
birthday gifts in cash or gold!! Forward all gifts unopened to 7 Race Course
the High Commissions will be told!! And on her 5th birthday in Office her
solitaires will have to be carried by hand!!!! If she were to wear these because
of the weight bajh jaye ga Maya ka ear lobes ka band! Maya becoming a PM is
a nightmare of many a Bharatwaasi!!! They awaken from this nightmare shivering,
sweating and in total udaasi!!! Post election in UPA there could be a rejig......even
an unexpected entrant!! And my guess is Amar will continue to rave and rant!!
For Commies its Mamtha could be the toll, for Jaya DMK and for Nitish Laloo!!!!
Motto..... today's pet was yesterday a jangli bhalo!!!! If Big B sends
you and SMS and you don't respond 'blasphemy' is his cry!!!! He sent Dhoni
and SMS and Dhoni did not reply and via his blog Big B is asking why??? In
his book an SMS from him is something holy!! And not responding and thanking
him profusely is something unholy!!! It will be prudent to sell stocks and
take shelter in gold or sona!!! Stock Markets are going to cause more rona
dhona!!! First they said recovery would be L shaped
then V
then
U and now its W shape!!! Those who are waiting for a recovery helplessly they
gape!! Confucius says
.. greed management and cutting losses are saving
graces for those who invest!!!And not many pass 'the test'!!!! Bharat Kumar FORUM It
appears to be the handiwork of opposition No politician of the ruling party
would have timed the cancellation of the RCN against Q"CHI in the midst of
an election campaign. It appears to be the handiwork of some mole of the opposition
parties in the CBI to facilitate a high decible opposition campaign. Everyone
already knows the fate of prosecution in this case. All parties make money in
these defence deals and that is one good reason why they save each other -whether
it be Bofors or Scorpene. I am surprised at the poor general knowledge of people
who get excited at the news of some xyz making money in government contracts.
If there was no money to be made by the ruling parties , whoever it be , you would
not watch the spectacle of people in their death beds competing with utter novices
to get an MPs seat in the scorching heat of May. Archie It
is too much to expect It is too much to expect that Modi will succeed beyond
a communally polarised Gujarat. As far as talent is concerned one could look at
the example of Deendayalji. Politics and politicians have most of their problems
from within. Archie Gratuity provisions need to be updated: Under
the gratuity act, gratuity is payable for a maximum period up to 33 years. These
provisions are very old. Retirement age was 58 years then. With the revision in
retirement age to 60 years, gratuity should also be made payable for a maximum
period up to 35 years instead of 33 years. MK |
