! Austerity measures that the Government of India (GOI) has initiated
have been widely hailed. However, it may come as a shock to powers that be that

went for a global summit early this year, cost just a crore or so. Most of the

excels by defying Economic melt down Inspite of an economic slow
down affecting the sales and domestic production, " North Eastern Regional
Agricultural Marketing Corporation Limited (NERAMAC)" a Government of India
(GOI)enterprise under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER),
achieved yet another record turnover of Rs. 36.91 Cr during 2008-09 as against
the turnover of Rs.29.54 Cr achieved during the preceding year, thus recording
a growth of 25% in its turnover. S. Bhattacharjee who has taken over as Managing
Director (MD) of NERAMAC for now more than two years during August 2007 has brought
considerable change in the activities of the Corporation. This could only be possible
due to increase in the procurement & marketing of agro-horticulture produces
to support farmers of the north east as well as to facilitate Mission supplies
under Post Harvest Technology Mission (PHTM) & National Horticulture Mission
(NHM) in different states of the country besides north east, said S. Bhattacharjee.
Among its other initiative NERAMAC conducted awareness & capacity building
programme with ASA-IM in the state of Assam & Sikkim during 2008-09. It has
initiated involvement of various stakeholders particularly private sectors in
fruit processing thereby playing a greater role to tap the market potential for
exotic produces of north east mainly Kiwi fruit & passion fruit through public
private partnership (PPP), he informed. There is a substantial increase in both
processing & marketing sectors during these two fiscal years. NERAMAC has
extended its activities even outside the NE Region to many states in the country.
Culture Ministry keen to retain KN Srivastava as DG,
ASI As the grapevine has it the Culture Ministry is keen to retain
incumbent Director General (DG) Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) KN Srivastava
as DG, though his orders for FA to the MEA had been issued quite some time back.
There are two reasons due to which it is being felt that he continues as the DG.
First, he has given a very dynamic leadership to the ASI staff enabling rapid
progress of work in the ASI. Second, there is no incumbent within the ASI who
qualifies to fill the slot. Therefore, KN Srivastava as DG, ASI, is being considered
the safest option in the wake of next year's Commonwealth Games. However, that
is almost one year away. Srivastava is an IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre who
belongs to the 1978 batch. Structure of CBEC to change

Ki Aawaz All of a sudden Raj Thackrey was hit
by a mime virus and he started to mime!! Miming is definitely not a crime!!!
But the mimicry artist sometimes ends up as the joke and he is laughed at!!!
But the mime artist does not realize this and keeps pulling out act after act
from his hat! Sonia's accent is no longer an issue but Raj seems oblivious
of this!!!! In the past Balasahib to lampoon Sonia opportunity nahi karta
tha miss!! Though some say Raj was negating Udhav's 'Raj has taken supari
from Congress to do us in!!!! This is for sure had MNS not been there more
seats Sena would win!! Advani joked insultingly about Mohna and ended up as
a joke himself!!! And Humor is the ability to laugh at oneself!! NCP now
says it's open to an alliance with Raj!!! Because NCP does care if UP and
Bihar get naraaj!! Maharashtra is its bastion and NCP wants to rule the State!!!
NCP is least bothered that its alliance with MNS could seal in Bihar and UP its
insignificant fate!! NCP has no stake in both States and its desperate to
stay in power in Maharashtra !! For NCP today Maharashtra is akin to the entire
Rashtra!! Raj is another Shivraj Patil and he changes clothes time and again
during the day!! In one set of clothes for not more than a few hours he does
stay!! Do our clothes get dirty when we spout venom or zehar??? Do Raj's
clothes get dirty jabh barsaata verbally kehar???? In Haryana Rahul has said
Hooda will continue as Chief Minister! But what about the Venod Sharma connection
that many find sinister!! And why not let Mom ask Hooda ' Hooda Ji why do
you want to become CM again'???? Let's see what Hooda will feign!!! And
she should also ask Hooda to keep Venod at bay!!!!! Not a bad idea if she
tells him 'you will be under probation till May'!! RSS has said Rahul's home
stay in the Dalit
sorry poor homes is good!!! Is it indicating that
' BJP too should get into this kind of mood'??? Imagine Advani staying in
a gareeb's home!!! Wringing his hands outside the home he'll roam!! Can
you even visualize Rajnath, Jaitley or Sushma undertaking such a home-stay???
In to words I can answer this ' no way'!!! BJP is not a Party for the poor
or gareeb!!! Gareeb ke they have never been kareeb!! Our Mantris use Choppers
to fly over flood affected areas
why???? Can they get a feel of what's
transpiring on the ground form so high???? Apart from water what do they see
..maybe
some humans looking like ants from so high! And they just see the cause of
the misery as they sip hot coffee or chai!! CBI Officials say Government wants
CBI to let off Mr. Q!!!! Though this is not something new!! During UPA's
previous stint Project 'let off Q' commenced!!! Government's plan quite a
few sensed!! Government wants to give Q a Diwali gift!!!! If not possible
then by Christmas it'll ensure via let off Q's spirits they are able to lift!
Confucius says
.Saara Desh ek taraf and Sonia ka mooh bolla Bhai ek taraf!!!!
By Xmas Q will be celebrating his let off with a neat Patiala peg in lots of baraf!!!
Adds.... Blindfolded Lady with scales will be shedding tears!!! And this is
nothing new because she's been shedding tears for years and years!! Bharat

regarding AK Mathur is wrong perhaps given by those disgruntled officers of RAW
who have been superseded but continue to remain indisciplined. The Bureaucracy
has failed in India???I am amazed at the startling revelations made by A K
Saxena, who has been a regular contributor to this great site. I trust his every
word. If political leanings are the sole criteria for selections and promotions
in the GOI, then I see very bleak future for the bureaucracy in this country.
This is my perception as a former Secretary to GOI.I have no regret in blaming
my own Service (IAS)which has seen a steep decline in its quality. Thanks to UPSC
for selecting such useless stuff into IAS, who cannot take a stand and shudder
at giving advice to their Ministers. This landmark judgement of the CIC, is a
wake-up call not only for the entire Indian bureaucracy but also for the PM who
heads the Department of Personnel. The observations of A K Saxena merit careful
investigation in a transparent manner. In fact, it calls for a judicial inquiry.
The Court may like to take suo moto cognizance of this case and issue notices
to all concerned. This is the age of transparency.P K KAMATHDEBATE ON
RETIREMENT AGEBy seeing large scale unemployment in country it is not a good
proposition.B K Sanwariya bk.sanwariya@yahoo.com Yes, in order to maintained
parity in all the employees in the independent India the retirement age should
be at par. presently the duffers are getting not only prime posting because of
their competency in buttering and corrupt habits, but also being engaged even
after date of retirement without assessing their past performance. The government
should review the policy and stop engagement of all the staff as well officers
after retirement. The retirement age may be increase to 62.S P Singh sps4@hotmail.com.
A survey of the global bureaucracy be done & be published in this country
so that it becomes clear to all those who are against the retirement age extended
to 62 years of age. It is certain that happiness in the society will manifold
increase as it will certainly increase the status of social security & the
