HUDCO reduces its lending rates for Housing
Housing & Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (HUDCO) has effected
major reductions in its floating lending rates ranging from 1.5% to
4% for its housing loans.
In respect of the social housing sector covering Economically Weaker
Sections (EWS) and Low Income Groups (LIG), the new floating rates would
be 7% to 7.50% instead of 8.5% to 9%.
For the affordable housing through private sector, for loans up to Rs.15
lakh, the rate would be in the range of 9.5% to 12% based on loan slabs
as compared to the 13.5% earlier. For loans of more than Rs. 15 lakh,
the rate of interest has been reduced to 13% from the earlier 13.5%.
In addition, under its individual home loan portfolio, an overall reduction
of 0.25% has been provided, in the fixed rates, from 13.75% to 13.5%,
and an additional reduction of 0.75% has been provided to Women beneficiaries
and all beneficiaries belonging to SC/ST categories. Thus for these
beneficiaries, the effective new fixed rate would be only 12.75%.

Does the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation need an
IAS Secretary?
I think the issue has been raised at an appropriate time. Whether
we have an IAS Secretary or Non-IAS, we must ensure accountability in
the system. The honorable MOS(IC), MOS&PI should examine the issues
raised and ensure that the responsibility for failures or lapses, if
any, are fixed for each of the following lapses:
A. Time-lag in release of data for 63rd (July, 2006 - June, 2007) and
64th (July, 2007 - June, 2008) rounds.
B. Quality of Unit Level Data of recent rounds.
C. Violation of Austerity Measures (OM. No. 7(1) E. Coord/2009 dated
7th September, 2009) in arranging workshop by DPD, NSSO at Ahmedabad.
Fairness of Transfer Policy for posting of senior officers, if any.
If responsible officers are taken to the task in spite of their high
rank, the system will awaken to its responsibility. If the present system
fails to do so, the case for an IAS Secretary will get strengthened.

Haathi ke daant Khane ke Aur Dikhane ke Aur
Their is a rat-race and one upmanship being displayed by the politicians
of all the hue & colour to trump up the issue of economy/austerity
in this election season perhaps with the sole intentions to divert the
public attention from the more important issue of their failures on
all counts to mitigate the innumerable problems being faced by the common
man in their day to day lives. Be it rise in prices, just surprising
to see the prices of all commodities almost doubling in a short span
of time when the wholesale price index and the inflation being projected
by the Government is negative. This reflects the poor management and
fudging of data as has been done by Lalu Prasad with the railway profits
and fooled everybody including the Parliament. Now look at the faking
of austerity by the politicians(MPs) nominated on the standing committees
of the PSUs and Government Department. Though they are travelling by
economy class but their accommodation s required to be arranged in five
star hotels even if the PSU Guest Houses are available and the PSUs
where they go for reviewing the performance have to bear the cost as
a ransom to ensure the MPs are not annoyed lest they write adversely
in their report. They also make unjustified demands which cannot be
written here. Only a token amount is charged by the PSUs to the Parliament
Secretariat to satisfy the codal requirements. It may be worth remembering
that many MPs of one such PSU committee were trapped in Oberoi Hotel
during the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai. But did anybody raise any
finger as to why these people were inside the five star hotel at that
time. They all were reviewing the performance of the Oil sector PSUs
headquartered at Mumbai. This is the austerity as defined by the political
class of this country. Is the PM whom the public take as role model
for integrity and Rahul Gandhi Baba and Sonia Mata listening. Only these
three persons can make a difference in the colonial mindset of the netas.

I wish that a magnanimous view be taken about transfers of direct recruit
IRS officers. It is seen to be believed, but it is a fact that promotees
are rulers in Income Tax department and Direct Recruits are slaves or
servants, for e.g. inspector-direct recruit ends up as an additional
commissioner whereas most of IRS officers retire as commissioners. This
phenomenon is not seen in any state or central service. I can challenge
anyone on this issue? Any takers:

No IAS officer can match his qualities
No IAS officer can match qualities of Pronab Sen. If somebody has not
met him, he can't know what is Dr. Sen. There are many IAS officers
in vigilance trap. Many are there who are getting salary without work
because some state Government feel that if they are allowed to work,
they will damage more. It is not that to what service one belongs to
but his qualities. Dr. sen is a wonderful officer and a perfect gentleman
and possess all qualities of a super man. For heaven shake don't compare
him with anybody else. I salute him and continue to salute.

Hypocritic austerity measures
The government reply exposes the hypocritic austerity measures advocated
by our leaders . We prove ourselves a bunch of hypocrites. Are the common
man staying in these VIP Bungalows on which crores and crores of rupees
are spent every year . If the leaders are serious about austerity, they
should stop lip service and recover 50% of the expenditure from the
salaries of the VIPs and bureaucrats and the country will run with the
same efficiency .
"In reply to an RTI plea, the government said that in the last
five years, Rs 93.50 crore was spent on maintenance and renovation of
the bungalows let out to Members of Parliament and ministers.
"An amount of Rs 93.50 crore has been spent towards upgradation,
ordinary repair and superior repair of these bungalows by CPWD responsible
for upkeep of the MP bungalows," the Directorate of Estates said
in its reply.
"MPs are provided with free accommodation throughout the term of
office. However, a normal license fee of Rs 105 is charged on a bungalow,"
it added.
A total of 77 bungalows have been allotted to different ministers here.
According to the reply, nearly Rs 11 crore was spent on upkeep of these
bungalows in 2004-2005, Rs 9 crore the next year followed by Rs 20 crore
in 2006-2007 and Rs 33 crore in 2007-2008. CPWD has spent Rs 21 crore
till June 2009 on the maintenance of these bungalows.

DEBATE ON RETIREMENT AGE
No
Singh D devee6@gmail.com
No
Ranjan panderanjan@in.com
Yes the retirement age needs to be increased to 62 as in these days
a Government servant is physically and mentally fit enough to assume
greater responsibilities due to be better health and medical cover.
m.p.nathanael paulnathanael@hotmail.com
No, not at all. Government will be doing the greatest blunder. Why should
government fritter away taxpayer's money for unproductive government
employees.
Radhika radhikai@hotmail.com
In view of the increased life span and excellent physical fitness of
individuals there seems no justification to retire government servants
at the age 60.The experienced officers services should be utilised till
they can serve the nation.
Ajeet Srivastava ajeetips@gmail.com
Increase in Retirement age will be of no use because our Independence
is also as old as the proposed retirement. Hence, to give a young shape
to our Independence and India it is not necessary to increase the retirement
age. Yes, it is necessary to reduce the age up to 50yrs.+ 5 years at
PUS ( a person should compulsorily do job in PSUs after he retires from
government irrespective of Cadre whether it is CSSSSSSS or GCS) + 5
years at voluntary sector on protocol basis.
S Durga Prasad rraviteja@yahoo.com
YES
R K Tiwari rktiwari.60@gmail.com
Experienced personnel will be available for government service and government
will be able to save large chunk of money which would otherwise have
to be given to the retired persons.
C L Samariya msbsk1987@yahoo.co.in
No, retirement age should be 58 yrs because youngsters are trying to
get job and government can engage 4 new employees instead one old retired
employee. If U do 62 then unemployment person will become thieves. That's
all and think about it
J R Meena jrm1765@yahoo.com
'Enhance retirement age to 62years' For wholesome development of the
human body every tinniest part of the body has got equal weightage and
importance of its own when compared to the large and big parts of the
body. Similar is the case with Government of any country of the world
including India who has to take along with her interests of every section
of the society whether old or youth and allow them to participate and
contribute in the wholesome development of the country. So, by increasing
the retirement age of the civil servants to 62, the Government will
only extend to them the opportunity to contribute in their own way,
keeping in mind their strength and weaknesses, the plethora of experience
and expertise they have developed over the years in themselves. One
of the benefits to the Government is that by letting the government
withhold their terminal benefits and use it economically and strategically
for the national development. Further, there are more than one new upcoming
sectors in the economic scenario where the energy of the youths could
be utilized properly/ appropriately. It is not only the Government sector
alone where youths of the country could find for them the new job opportunities.
So my vote is for enhancing the retirement age to 62 years for all the
government servants.
