BHEL signs contract with Abhijeet Infra for Thermal Power Plant in Jharkhand

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a contract with Abhijeet Infra Limited (AINL), an Independent Power Producer (IPP) for setting up a 1,080 MW thermal power plant (4x270 MW) in Jharkhand. Valued at Rs.2,525 Crore, the contract envisages supplying and installing the main plant package for Phase-I (2x270 MW) and Phase-II (2x270 MW) of their upcoming coal-based Matrishri Usha Jayaswal Mega Power Plant, located at Latehar district of Jharkhand, near Ranchi. The order once again reflects the confidence reposed by IPPs in BHEL’s capabilities. It also reinforces BHEL’s leadership status in the execution of thermal power projects involving supply of state-of-the-art equipment, suited to Indian coal and Indian conditions. Significantly, BHEL secured its highest ever orders from Private Power Utilities in fiscal 2009-10. Out of the total orders of 16,489 MW for Power Plant Equipment received by BHEL during the year, the orders received from IPPs alone accounted for 14,689 MW. This constituted nearly 90% of the total orders booked by BHEL’s Power Sector.

Aaj Ki Aawaz
Now even the Queen is concerned about CWG’s ‘gravy train’!!!
Using classical Brit language it’s being said ‘CWG is causing the Queen strain’!

As Brits feel this is also their show they should demand an investigation!!
Maybe a JV Investigation between CBI and premiere Agency of their Nation!!

Because though we have ace sleuths but their hands and feet are tied!!
Why do you think in so many cases that CBI has handled Lady with scales has cried??

In all purchases made by CWG prices have been inflated grossly!!!
For the Nation in more than one way the Games are proving to be costly!!

Apart from the overruns India is now the laughing stock!!
‘See we told you India is downright corrupt’ our detractors mock!!

Have you heard of such scandals from Countries that have hosted even bigger games??
CWG is turning out to be one of India’s biggest shames!!

But then with Pawars and Kalmadis these Countries are not cursed!!
One of them has even made money ‘from hunger’ and money he has pursed!!

Seems Mohna and Sonia have decided to keep mum!!!!
They are following the adage ‘ bollo kumm’ (talk less)!!

Inflation is ravaging Aam Aadmi but both prefer to keep their fingers on the lips!!
Questions on prices and corruption Mohna tactfully skips!!

All this is taking place under Mohna’s watch so he needs to reply!!
After all with certain norms a ‘honest man does comply’!!

For dishonesty an honest man does not give excuses!!
Takes the side of honesty and even abusive language against the dishonest he uses!

Seems UPA MPs are eating food in the Lok Sabha Canteen and ordering ‘takeaways’!
A pittance for food in the Lok Sabha Canteen an MP pays!!

Though most of them can afford ‘takeaways’ from the best Restaurants in Dilli!!
But then spending money on equivalent food available in the Canteen at a pittance is silly!

What’s happened to the Cabinet reshuffle??????
Seems no Alliance partner’s feather Congress wants to ruffle!!

They say even in ‘Congress Ministries’ reshuffles took ‘donkey’s years’!!!!
And you get to see many ‘live wires’ as the reshuffle nears!

Confucius says…..Sonia was preparing to ‘shuffle the pack’!!!!
But then she suddenly started playing Solitaire and then she flew off but now she is back!

Adds.... so now should we expect a reshuffle?????
Will she again start playing solitaire or 'the pack she will shuffle'?????

Is Pakistan achieving success in its proxy war against India in J&K?

On the backfoot before the media and public in the Western world since revelations surfaced in the media about the links the Pakistani government and Pakistani army had with terrorists (of course the governments of these countries have always been aware of this nexus, but have never bothered about this nexus Pakistan has with terrorists), the Pakistani warlords (read Generals) have resorted to plan B (divert attention of the western public and media to Jammu & Kashmir by staging violent protests with women and children in the forefront). That these "protests" are stage managed is well known, the Pakistani stooges ("separatists") who are in the pay of Pakistan are following it up with all their might. These nefarious designs need to be well understood, and the publicity war needs to be won by India. We have the right people in Dr Manmohan Singh, S M Krishna, P Chidambaram and G K Pillai but we need to emphasise the reasons for the media blitzkrieg and propaganda war unleashed by Pakistan before public and the media of the rest of the world.

Only Equals to Talk

I read with interest the interview of Ms Nirupama Rao, particularly, in the context of the idea that Indian Generals should be used to talk to Kayani. Her answer was, to say the least, suave, diplomatic and brilliant. I say this when I my self was a strong supporter of the idea. Come to think of it, Why should Gen VK Singh, ever be used to talk to Kayani? Both are not equals. Kayani is not even equivalent to tens of Army Commanders under the Services Chiefs. He needs to be dealt with by a Defence Attache in our Embassy in Pakistan, if at all he desires. Though, same be true about the civilian Government of Pakistan but why break rules and diplomatic practices by lowering our standards for Kayani, the terrorist? Is the hardened terrorist Kayani going to give up his pursuit by being happy to talk to Indian Army Chief? He deserves to be kept at his place and named in the category of terrorist like Lakhawi or Illias Kasmiri etc. His place is equivalent to a Corps commander of Indian Armed Forces, talking of equivalence at all.

Why should India lower down the dignity of its military Commanders for a man who is a terrorist himself? India is capable of facing his terrorist strategies. He should be named as a war criminal for Bombay and tried in International Court of Justice for war crimes.

That should put up a stop to "Out of Box" option. As a conflict resolution mechanism hot lines between the two DGMOs is good enough.

Well thought out Ms Nirupama. You know the worth of Indian Generals. Indeed very responsible of you. Kayani is a War Criminal for Afghanistan and India, he needs to be treated with contempt he deserves.

“PIL seeking closure of PESB!!!”

The WIC report (August 9th ) by Suresh Kumar reflects the disturbing trend in governmental functioning. Of late, there has been a growing tendency (Read as planned conspiracy) on the part of GOI to gradually dilute the importance of the Public Enterprises Selection Board ( PESB) by ignoring its advice. Worse, the PESB’s recommendations are being over-turned by Government of India with impunity, without assigning any reason therefore. This has sent wrong signals to the entire public sector.
Need it be known that the PESB is a high powered, autonomous, professional Board responsible for making recommendations for Board level appointments in central PSUs. The suitability of candidates is judged through fair and objective selection interviews in the presence of other inputs including the performance appraisal reports? As per the established policy of GOI ,unless markedly better candidates are available from outside, internal candidates already serving in the same central PSU must be preferred for Board level appointments like functional Directors and CMD. The panel of two candidates is always in the order of merit.
Unfortunately, the GOI has been exercising its discretion of “pick and choose” on some unmentionable considerations other than merit. How decisions are taken in such cases is an open secret. Wheelers and dealers come to the forefront and merit takes the back seat! It is not expected of a government that swears by virtues like “Transparency”, “Good governance”, “Merit-based, fair and objective” selections!
As a former Secretary, PESB,I have been persistently exposing (in print media) transgressions of its professed policies by GOI. But, it remains unmoved. During the tenures of N Vittal and later T K A Nair( present Principal Secretary to PM) as Chairmen PESB,the study revealed that 99% of PESB’s recommendations were accepted by GOI. What has happened now? Who is to blame? The GOI or the PESB? Is it not the high time that the PESB with a massive budget is wound up as sought in the PIL before Delhi High Court to achieve substantial savings in expenditure? Alternatively, let the GOI take corrective action to review its earlier recommendations in a transparent manner. It is never too late!
A K Saxena (A retired civil servant)

It’s surprising

Surprising, a person who always speaks about IAS, IPS, IFS only, today talking about Stenographers' Cadre person. When you can talk about promotions, postings ets of Under Secretaris, Deputy Secretarys from IFS(B), then why not PPSs/SPPSs and PSOs? Why discrimination with Stenos Cadre?
