DTC spells bad news for SEZs in India
The recently announced Direct Tax Code (DTC) by Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has come as a harbinger of bad news for those who have set up or are setting up Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in India. The tax exemption that SEZs enjoy will be deprived of that
once DTC comes into force next year. Thus, overnight SEZs have turned highly unviable ventures. "The Centre, on Tuesday, said requests from certain quarters to provide income tax (IT) benefits for Special Economic Zones units in the Direct Taxes Code would be considered
before the proposed code is finalised for replacing the Income Tax Act." This was stated by Indian Minister of state for Finance S S Palanimanickam in the Rajya Sabha on May 6,2010. However, the DTC is totally silent on the IT exemption to units coming up in SEZs.

UPSC returns promotion file of IIS officers
UPSC has returned the file to the Ministry of I & B, related to about 40 IIS officer's promotions from STS to JAG Reason behind this is said to be non availability of ACRs of some officers. MIB had started promotion process in march this year & sent the file to UPSC in May. Despite several reminders by the MIB the concerned senior officers did't bother to send  ACRs within stipulated period. some ACR cases are said to be of years 2006-07 & .2007-08. UPSC reasons that all required ACRs should be enclosed with each case. Its quite surprising that, instead of pursuing, why MIB is not initiating actions against those erring officers who are responsible for inordinate delay ?

Aaj Ki Aawaz
Mohna went to see CWG stadium and they showed him around!!
But by blinkers his vision was bound!!

They showed him what they wanted him to see!!
Why could you not have gone on a surprise unannounced visit Mohna Ji??

Then he viewed Peepli Live!!!
Had he seen the ‘uncensored’ version then in shame under the chair karta dive!

But the movie was doctored for him!!
Scenes they did not want him to see ‘they did trim’!!

It was ‘ Mehengai dainn ko Sarkaar khaye jaath hai’… Sarkaar was put in!!!
Whereas the original song says mehengai is doing us in!!

Mohna and Sonia are prisoners of ‘the system’!!
And to show them what the system wants them to see there is a well oiled system!!

BJP  has always had a  soft corner for Uncle Sam!!!
Very carefully Congress on the 123 Nuke Deal BJP did damn!!

In fact it tried to take credit for the 123 Deal!!
Used to say ‘ from us the credit for the 123 Deal Congress did steal’!!

On the Nuke Civil Liability Bill BJP extracted its pound of flesh!!
And showed as if it passed the Bill through ‘pro Public’ mesh!!!

Mohna in a hurry to get the Bill passed as a gift for Obama gave in!!
And gave BJP the chance to say ‘on unfair clauses in the Bill UPA we did pin’!

Fact is had the Bill gone through in its original form!!
All over the Nation it would have created a storm!!!

People are livid as to what people in Bhopal are facing!!!
How victims were short changed and how to save the powerful Sarkaar was found racing!

So actually its Bhopal gassing making headlines that made Congress re-think!!!
And that is why Congress did blink!!

Understand that Kalmadi is preparing a dossier!!!!
With a ‘Media giant’ he’s been getting cosier and cosier!!

Excuses are being conjured up!!!
And very soon they’ll come out with one gup after another gup!!

In fact now Kalmadi wants the ‘whistleblowers’ to be blamed!!
And for doing this our Netas are famed!!

Inder Devta too will be put in the dock!!
‘All would have been well’ if Inder Devta had put on the ‘clouds a lock’!!

Rains caused damage and delays too!!!
At Inder Devta Kalmadi and his cohorts are going to boo!!

Confucius says….. our Netas have the ‘art of getting away’!!!!
And the ‘technology’ to get ‘whistleblowers’ to pay!!

Diplomacy and timidity
It appears that we always associate diplomacy with timidity. No where it was more exhibited than when we silently gulped the insult when our lady Ambassador (present foreign secretary) was woken up at 3AM and was handed over a protest note against India on a trivial issue some time back. It was also exhibited in the timidity shown by our FM when he swallowed the open insult, all in front of the press, by Pakistan’s India baiter FM, in comparing our Home Secretary with a despicable terrorist. Similarly whether it is Tibet or Kashmir we are always on the defensive. Government never talk or protest against or give publicity about the massacres and atrocities happening in POK. They never had an election. Punjabis are being settled there and a major portion of Gilgit and Baltistan is being ceded away to China. It is no wonder that China considers Kashmir a part of Pakistan. Our governing civilians are still in the 1962 mood with their tails still between their legs. They are not aware that our present day Army is not the same of Nehru of 50s and 60s.It will not be a cake walk as happened in 1962 if they again try to invade us. We need a different type of strategy when dealing with a nation like China, whose founding father himself declared that power flows from the barrel of a gun.

Is PPS/Sr.PPS/PSO post necessary ?

Except a very few holding the above posts, the rest are enjoying. They simply refuse to take dictation saying that they are equal to US/DS/Dir. Because of their negligence, the poor steno D or C has to take dictation from senior officers though they are to take the same only at DO/US or equal level. These persons also cry when it comes to sitting late and they want the help of poor Gr 'D' or C. Then what for these posts are existing. It would be better if no of PS posts are increased and these posts are abolished as practically they do not serve the purpose for which it was created; except creating more problems for Gr D & C stenos. After all the salary is not the same for all from Gr.D to PSO. Then why Gr. D and C are to sit late with these persons when they simply attend to telephones only. CS II Section in DOPT is sleeping and it seems they will never wake. They are happy to the maintain the updated seniority list of PS/PPS/Sr. PPS/PSO but they are not bothered about steno D & C. Only God can help us.
