It is unjustified
The responsibility of relieving the concerned officers lies with the State Government while the threat of debarment looms large over the officers. Such an eventuality would be unjustified as the officers have no individual choice in the matter. The Centre should impress upon the UP Govt. to relieve the officers, once their nominations have been forwarded by the State Government.

Bad condition
The condition of Director/Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Environment and Forests is so bad and most of them are having negligible work. Still Ministry of Environment keeps on demanding more Director level officers.
Liquor more important than foodgrains

TV visuals showing liquor crates being stored in FCI godown in Jaipur and thousands of tons of foodgrains rotting outside is a telling commentary on the state of affairs. Let people die of starvation but liquor must be stored properly in adequate quantity (in FCI godowns) and not run out of stock at any time.

Ramdev' party to effect all parties
Guru Ramdev' party will adversely effect all parties soaked in corruption. All good-intentioned people who want transparent government will support it. Baba should open the party to all such people and even invite honest people to join the party. Our politics have reached the nadir and Aam Aadmi is sick of the antics of our politicians. Our PM is honest but has no political clout. My best wishes to Baba.
Senior Citizen

So far my understanding goes, Baba Ramdev will only try to change the political atmosphere in the country. Whosoever's interest get damaged is not his concern right now. But of course ultimately if he thinks of converting his Swabhimaan Trust into a political entity, it will fast be accepted by the people of this country. Reason --- he has been able to convince people of this country down below the line that he means business & since his Yoga has achieved what it want, now people have faith & belief whatever he says.
Now coming on to which party--- Obviously Congress because his understanding is that whatever mischief this country is facing is because of Congress-- be it- (1)Social disharmony,(2) Hetroginity in the society, (3) Underdevelopment of a caste, group or society, naxalism ,terrorism, corruption etc.

Evils of caste system visible in services too
Any person equipped with administrative capability and can do the justice to the post be allowed. The evils of caste system of Hindu society are highly visible in services too. Any post must not be treated as a specific property of any powerful group except in a highly technical or professional field.

Ration entitlements of an army Officer ?
What are the ration entitlements of an army Officer posted in a peace area. Earlier days only field officers (to the rank of Major) used to get free rations. Now it is general officer level. If this is correct, their DA is absolutely not justified. In the defence services, there are many officers who have not seen a field area but enjoy all privilege including free ration. Correct me if I am wrong.
Naveen K

Army Rations ?
Any criticism of a service is welcome but criticism is required to be informed and valid. What your web is publishing is ordinary canard and falsehood bereft of facts.
Industrial workers and labour in the country, where they can not prepre their individual meals, are to be provided collective facilities like canteens with subsidised meals under Industrial and Labour laws of the country. Industries are doing this superbly. Provision of ration money, DAs, reimbursement of food bills is extension of this spirit of the law of the land.
In terms of conditions of service, Defence Forces members are the worst off than industrial labour. Hence they are provided free cooked meals. This facility has been extended to them even in peace locations as they remain in peace locations for sometime to compensate their tenures in hard field.
If one goes into the details of the Ration Scales given to soldiers and officers, it is amazing that those scale were laid down just before 1914 World War -I. The soldiers are provided ration today at the inflatory value of Rs 30 per day and officers about Rs 35 per day. Whereas all stratas of our society have progressed far beyond the conditions of life of 1914, the MoD and the Country has kept the status of its soldiers and officers at 1914 level in terms of ration scales required for them and conditions of lives they expect them to live in. Is it not a matter of shame for the Government and society? Today, the bare minimum subsistence for rural poor is considered to be Rs 110 per day under NAREGA but for a soldiers of this country, only Rs 30 worth of useless rations are good enough for his 24 hours responsibility ? What a shame for the Country?
As if it was not enough, there are people reading and participating in your forum who want that to be taken away. A Brigadiers gets free rations for a family of five... That is but a loud valedictory joke. He sells his entitlement of 10 gms of sugar per day in the market... another howler. But is it worth publication?

Please be judicious in publishing such jokes. Of Course you could publish those under a separate head called "Humour Against Uniforms"..
Jai Hind.

Postings in Government
I am amazed to see how the postings are being done in Government. There has been no reform in this area since independence. Entire world is looking for excellence and sooner or later we also have to move towards recruitment based on merit only, instead of following archaic and partisan empanelment method. There are many talented and willing to serve the Government outside IAS officers. It will help IAS officers also to compete with others and make the system fresh with new thinking.

PSO and PSO designation:
Initially this PSO(Personal Security Officer) designation is in Defence Ministry who assist/take care of the senior army officers which is very much in the interest of the nation.

Surprisingly, Now another PSO, i.e. Personal Staff officer in steno line has been created. But nobody know for what purpose. But one thing, they are doing. That is attending to all personal works of his civilian officer in his personal interest and at the cost of Grade D steno who have been working as Steno D without any promotion for the past 25 years. Good sleeping DOPT Department.

Non-functional up-gradation made dysfunctional
The simple logic and intent behind giving pay up-gradation on non-functional basis to the organized Gr A service officers was to provide them financial compensation in the event of delay in their promotions. This could have been best achieved by prescribing the total length of service for each up-gradation subject to vigilance clearance etc. Linking it to the empanelment of IAS officers in the centre (who get the SAG scale in 16 years in the states where as others normally do not get it even after 20 years) is not only ridiculous but also intended at inflicting insult at officers of other services. Einstein once said that any intelligent fool can make simple things complicated but it requires a genius to move in the reverse direction. The higher bureaucracy (read IAS) in India with its control mind set seems to have been acting as intelligent fools in the instant case. It also seems that they do not want to utilize their valuable time for making positive contribution in the area of their work as practicing discrimination (apartheid) to maintain an edge over others and consigning merit to obscurity is one of their main agenda.
