Barkha Dutt says her Radiia conversations were an error of judgement!!!

Raja too can say ' on my part there was misjudgement'!!

Fact of the matter is Barkha has been caught red handed!!!

Into a 'dead end' corner herself she's landed!!

She says she was talking to Radiia for info but her 'Buck stops here' had not mention!

So this should indicate what actually was her intention!!

How come she did not report on the info she got from her Radiia talks????
After all when it comes to news Journos are like hawks!!

Now she says ' in future I'll be careful'!!

And to sound convincing makes her presentation 'tearful'!!

I recall her telling a friend ' we in the news media are the real PR guys'!!!

'Our PR pitching the Nation buys'!!

Government has informed SC that Raja disregarded PM's advice!!!!

But will this suffice?????

No because if he disregarded PM's advice what did PM do!!

Did not even let out a teeeny weeny boo!!

Thomas continuing as CVC is strange!!!

Though now for 2G investigation he'll be 'out of range'!!

But his decisions will be under doubt!!!

'Maybe he's helping someone out'!!

Sonia should be worried at turn of events.....downturn!!!

Midnight oil she and her think tank need to burn!!

Though some say Sonia would not mind a five year break!!!

'Out of power to her importance Congress does awake'!!!

She knows two terms in power means Congressmen have fattened!!!

So she would not mind if in the next election Congress is flattened!!

Fattened Congressmen could get ideas and need to be put on a forced diet!!

For two full terms they would have been on a high potency Vitamin M diet!!

And then post the five years sabbatical from power Rahul will lead Congress to a win!!

Because in 5 years it is expected that BJP will do itself 'in'!!

Ghadkari has got a panel of Lawyers in place!!!

Any allegation and a case the allegers could face!!

He's been blabbing a lot and Congress needs to get a tit for tat Lawyer panel in place!

And yes in BJP he's not in the PM race!!

And Advani too is not in the race!!!

BJP will loose a winning electoral battle if it says 'PM's Office Advani will grace'!!

Confucius says… though our Netas do go for short-term gains but their planning is long term!!!

In their terminology the early bird 'becomes the worm'!!

A deserving site

Whispers in the corridors is no more a whispering site. It has gone beyond that and now is a forum where honest and bold citizens find a place to see them expressed as they want. Slowly but steadily, even IAS officers have now started understanding the importance of this site and are joining this forum. The way Dr. Misra has expressed his anguish at the plight of civil servants, deserves to be praised, at the same to be pondered about. I feel it is time too for the Civil Servants (IAS) to form an Association/Federation of their own and protect themselves from the greedy politicians. The Federation could also lay down rules for their own members and boycott those dishonest socially.

About Jagan

The 38 year old Jagan Mohan Reddy had declared assets of Rs.9.19 lakhs in 2003-04 as reported in the TOI and has an annual income of RS.500 crores in 2010-2011! He is reported to have huge stakes in 13 companies. Should not an enquiry be conducted to find out the source of these funds? He also belongs to the so called more honest youth brigade. It is clear that honesty has nothing to do with youth or age.

A challenging task for CVC

I fully endorse the views of Dhingra about the controversy surrounding CVC. As a part of British Civil Service Legacy the charged officer is treated as a criminal barring all rights otherwise available for a civil servant to protect himself. Apart from this, principle of natural justice are also denied to the charged officer. This peculiar status continues till the stage of exoneration covering decades of useful service period of the civil servant. The punishment meted out in terms of denying promotion, suitable posting etc during the trial period never gets compensated. The vigilance officer who frames the charges fraudulently goes scot-free even after the charged officer is proved innocent. So the present CVC should take this as a challenge and set the things right since he can appreciate the plight of honest officers undergoing harassment under false implicated charges. There are several instances particularly in Income Tax Division where in the vigilance officer who was in the habit of making false cases was himself charged later and in the event of such charges proved what would be status of his false cases. Such peculiarities in the Civil Service Cadre management calls for a debate and redesigning. The Administrative Reforms Commission chaired by the present Law Minister has also dealt with this subject elaborately and suggested for a summary trial of Inquiry proceedings in place of present long drawn hearings conducted by Inquiries Officers . Hope something positive comes out this episode.

Lesson for all honest bureaucrats

It will be tragedy if a good officer like Thomas has to end up like this. He was not corrupt but a pliable bureaucrat. He got involved in Palmolin case because of CM Karunakaran's dictates. His action as Telecom Secretary also showed his pliability though honest. It is a lesson for all honest bureaucrats who dance to the tunes of corrupt political masters.

Imbibe Sankaran

I read about S R Sankaran an IAS officer of AP care who died last October. I am not an IAS officer but was greatly influenced by reading the article about him in EPW Oct 23-29 2010. In my small capacity I will like to follow the his path. I have forwarded the article to many with a desire that if 10% of the people will be like Sankaran, 100% poverty could be eradicated. After receiving the article, one of my senior colleague who has retired has given his response which I reproduce below.

"Dear Mr. Dash,

Thank you for sending this mail.

I am very sorry to hear the sad demise of S.R. Sankaran, one of the most competent Civil Servants of this country; but above all. He was an extraordinary noble person who lived for the uplift of the poor and downtrodden. Literally, he was a man of high thinking and simple living. He was my First Secretary in Ministry of Rural Development, New Delhi and he was such an inspiration for us to work for the removal of rural poverty in the country. I still remember that he never used the Air Conditioner in his Chamber, rather he wanted that to be removed from his office. Such was his outlook to comforts in life. He lead the life of a Saint even when he was holding such a high position in Government of India.

Let us all rededicate ourselves for achievement of the noble ideals for which he devoted his whole life. That will be the best tribute we can pay for the departed soul.

Regards,

M.Neelakantan."

Best suited officer for Lt Governor's post

The news of change of Lt Governor Delhi is very old as Shiela Dikshit never likes any officer who comments on her work or style of work. The most competent person doing rounds in the probables is Ashok Kumar, Vice Chairman DDA and most suitable in comparison of Dr K Pal who lacks knowledge of MCD/civic authorities and also working and problems of Delhi administration. He can be a good Lt Governor as many officers say and is clear from the angle of integrity and work knowledge. He is best suited officer as Lt Governor in the present circumstances whereas KK Paul is having political connections and no experience except of that police administration and there too he failed miserably and could not do anything. Ashok Kumar, IAS - present VC of DDA is sure and fittest officer for the job. Many eyes are on him for reforms and he enjoys good reputation in Delhi. God bless his parents and him as a worthy son who had been a very gentle man from the deep of own self. may all bless him.

Worst part of post retirement jobs

The worst part of the doling out of post retirement jobs is that it is done in an entirely non transparent manner. Except for CAT jobs, even the pretence of inviting applications and disclosing required qualfns is not done.It leads to many shady officers getting such jobs Dr misra has only understated the malady.

S K Sharma

Congratulations to Dr Misra !

I would like to congratulate Dr PK Misra for his letter. I think not only PM but the entire country should ponder over his suggestion. There is need to file PIL in supreme court to stop this bureaucratic nepotism which is ruining the civil swervices edifice. Entire IAS fraternity should move on this. The stink need to be removed.
