SAIL's performance based reward for team India
Indian Minister for Steel Virbhadra Singh in presence of Indian Minister of State for Steel A. Sai Prathap and SAIL Chairman S.K. Roongta announced on that SAIL a PSU under Ministry of Steel, will reward the Indian hockey team for achieving victory during different stages of the FIH World Cup 2010 to be held in New Delhi from February 28 to March 13, 2010. SAIL is the Presenting Partner of the tournament. The awards announced are in the following categories: for winning the World Cup Rs. one crore, for reaching finals, silver award of Rs. 50 lakh; for reaching semi-finals, bronze award of Rs. 25 lakh. Singh was speaking at a photo session organized at India Gate today with captains of the 12 teams from different countries taking part in the tournament. SAIL is also presenting a ‘Man of Steel’-Best Defender award in all the matches of the tournament. The award carries a trophy and a cash reward. SAIL’s dedication to the cause of sports has taken the
shape of setting up residential sports academies for football, athletics, archery and hockey in different regions of India, apart from a number of other initiatives. SAIL Hockey Academy was set up in Rourkela, Orissa way back in 1992. SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant set it up in Sundargarh, the hockey heartland of India. The main reason for Rourkela being chosen for promoting Hockey is because of the fact that in Sundargarh, for the local tribals Hockey is almost a way of life. The locals have a natural affinity for the game and many of them in the villages start playing the game with hockey sticks carved out from branches of trees. The objective was honing the talent of the youth, for whom hockey is more a way of life than a mere game. The sustained effort has been to catch these talents young and to impart specialized scientific training so that they metamorphose into players of national and international stature. In June 2005, the most
modern facility of Synthetic Turf was installed in the Hockey Stadium at Rourkela. SAIL is also proud that Michael Kindo, one of the stars of the Indian team which won the Hockey World Cup in 1975, was on its rolls.
Budget will consolidate growth with focus on reforms : Arup Roy Choudhury
The Indian Budget 2010-2011 is high on consolidating economic growth while focusing on reforms for sustaining it in the long term. The Finance Minister has rightly focused on infrastructure, roads and railways, power, social sector with emphasis on rural development. “This balanced, broad –based approach towards consolidating the growth process and achieving inclusive growth is commendable”, said Arup Roy Choudhury, Chairman, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and CMD, NBCC. SCOPE Chairman said budget is likely to provide big boost to public sector companies in infrastructure, railways, road development, banking sector, power and energy sectors, health sector and social services as many PSEs are engaged in these activities. Welcoming the government’s policy of broad-basing the public sector equity as it will bring better governance in PSEs, Chairman SCOPE cautioned that market should not be flooded with the offerings from PSEs and
it should be left to the managements of PSEs to decide when they should access the market so as to maximize the return from the market. Recognizing the growth challenge that the country faced due to financial crisis of 2008-09 and noting the recovery process during the current financial year, Mr. Arup Roy Choudhury said that the Finance Minister has rightly opted for calibrated exit for fiscal stimulus, thereby guiding the industry in its revival efforts. It is heartening that the government is committed to revert back to fiscal consolidation with lower fiscal deficit targets for coming years. It also needs to be complimented for maintaining its reforms agenda of introducing GST and Direct Tax Code from April 2011. The budget is pro-growth, pro-reforms with clearly identified targets. This should spur growth momentum further to reach double digit GDP growth in near future. Direct tax proposals are welcome. However, the concern on price front remains
as increase in excise duty rates and reverting back to duty on crude and petroleum products may turn out to be inflationary. Also, increasing MAT would be a dampener for the industry sector.
Response of Chairman, SAIL on Budget 2010-11
A substantial part of Plan allocation – more than 45% – has been made towards development of infrastructure in the country, including rural infrastructure. This is welcome, said S.K.Roongta Chairman, SAIL. Highest priority on power capacity addition and emphasis given on road infrastructure, Bharat Nirman, Indira and Rajiv Awas Yojanas, NREGA, health sector and urban infrastructure will speed up economic growth.

There is only one power center
Power center is one and only one Mrs. Sonia Gandhji and four power centers are nothing but paralllel forces without having no direction and end points but instructed by power center to implement imp issues so they are facilitation centers of power but can be called information and implementation center.

"Pseudo Power Centres in GOI!"
You have been so upfront in identifying so many power centres in GOI who can get anything done. Are they power centres or power brokers? I say this as you have conveniently overlooked 10-Janpath,the actual fountain head from where all power flows and around which all the so-called pseudo-power centres, wheelers and dealers revolve. I had sent you the general perception prevalent among civil servants about the existence sub-power centres in the bureaucratic hierarchy along with details of several top civil servants coming from a particular Indian State. But, you exhibited timidity by not publishing my candid views (along with 'proofs')ostensibly out of fear of the power that be. It was least expected of this website. I had articulated the views of a large number of senior IAS officers in GOI and the Indian States, the great silent majority which you chose to ignore. Are you also K(+)?. If not, please prove me wrong by publishing these views! This is no pressure tactic. I take full responsibility for what I write for this site.

Disparity with UDC/Steno D
We want to raise our voice against disparity with UDC/Steno D through your esteem website. After three months of issuance of OM dated 16/11/2010 for granting of 4200 (GP) to UDCs/Steno'D' of Central Secretariat/AFHQ/Ext. Affairs/Railways Board, we couldn’t hear anything from DoP&T as there is no one to take pain. Sixth pay commission equated us to Group D and our big brother Asstt of CSS are also makeup their mind that we couldn’t deserve to get 4200 GP. In this regard, one thing is very heartening that our Big brother i.e. Assistant move their file for granting of 4600 GP after three days of issuance of OM dated 13/11/2010 for grant of 4600 (GP) to Inspector etc., This shows their good behave with junior. But in our case, they are not keen to positive noting so that we may also get our due at earliest. It is a matter of concerned for UDCs/Steno D. In other organization junior colleagues also get benefit in front of Promotion and Pay while in Central Secretariat we have been cheated by our Big- brother as they want all benefit for themselves.
