Mis-governance of UPA Government
Indian Oil has stop gap arrangement of Chairman that could have been entirely eliminated if the search of successor of Mr Behuria had commenced in time, suitable person selected and appointed. This mis-governance of the UPA Government is for the reasons best known to Murli Deora, Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh.

Name of Aam Admi being misused by India Post department
Name of Aam Admi is being used by the India Post department senior officers in connection with all exaggerating, wasteful expenditure for post offices. Aam Admi Arrow Project not having social audit. No accountability to our citizens.
Aam Admi not knowing how much of public money has been spend. If there is truely clear and open public service then let the big senior officers put up complete details of all money spend in Arrow project for each and every postal office. This can be exhibit in permanent special display board in each and every post office. Aam Admi will be proud that his office has been given facelifting. 20 lacs minimum has been spend for civil and electrical work in each different office. Also additional more purchasing on computer, UPS, furniture, counters, glow sign board.
In many post offices we are having dedication function and marble stone giving name of Chief Post Master General, high dignitaries inaugurating Arrow Project building. Rest everything is being hidden behind stonewalls.
Also new counter, furniture, diesel electricity generator, computer, UPS and many hardware supplies to Arrow Project post office. MNC consultant report recommending same, identical, uniform get up for each and every post office in India is excuse for again replacing already new furniture and counter. Many computer recently only supplied in 2007 now again being replaced with new computers in 2009 for Arrow Project. Where has all the 2007 computer gone to.

Postal department under RTI can never show stock register for computer in any post office or administration office. Many offices not having record, only incomplete not up to date computer stock register for computer, printer, UPS. There is no any entry in stock register and there is no any auditing. Using RTI if Aam Admi is asking for information and registers and details of Arrow project spending and checking quality many senior officers will have problem more than Maha Chief PMG.

Post office is the face of GoI
The humble post office is the face of the Govt. of India in the remotest areas of rural India. It has enjoyed immense faith and goodwill of people in the past-it has been celebrated in literature, films etc. The Dakiya was disseminating information not only personal but also of govt. schemes-actually s/he distributed social capital by reaching out to one and all.
The Postal Department stands amidst such a glorious past. In the name of modernisation, it should not go berserk in swindling the tax payers money. The public expects the postal department more than the others to observe austerity measures and simplicity. They often dedicate weeks in memory of Mahatma Gandhi/bring out stamps and philatelic gift items and claim to be upholding the values he desired to instill in us.
We appeal to the Postal Department to uphold uprightness and simplicity in its functioning-only then can it identify itself with folks in rural India, where 80% of its network lies. If the Department builds its orientation around service to the masses it will certainly flourish and justify its existence.
The senior officers need to be very sensitive to the working conditions of the staff working in the post office. Let the senior managers spend a day on the post office counters to begin with!

Where there is a will, there is a way !
Thank you Radhikaji for raising the issue and pointing out pertinent facts. Anybody can do any job provided they are willing to take up the challenge. Will give you one example, in Ministry of External Affairs, more than 100 Stenos/PAs/PPSs are doing jobs done by Asstt/SOs/US/DSs since the higher up officers do not have confidence in their work.

It’s the result of crippled state of vigilance machinary

Arrest of MS Bali Chief Post Master General of Maharashtra by CBI while accepting bribe of Rs 2 crore and recovery of huge cash and foreign currency from his residence proves that neither there is any shame in indulging in corrupt activities nor any fear of getting caught because of virtually crippled state of vigilance machinary .

Whether Delhi's other problems have been addressed ?
I know that chances of this feedback featuring on your column are quite bleak but this is a question which keeps bothering me and I needed to somehow look for some answers therefore could not hold myself in expressing itself. I was reading a news item of a costly bridge being constructed at Delhi and was wondering whether Delhi's other problems like health & housing infrastructure have been addressed that government is ready to spend so much public moneys on this bridge where an ordinary bridge could have been constructed at a lot less cost. Who decides that public money should be spend in which manner? Is it based on the whims and fancy of a politician or it is suppose to be based upon the requirements of the people who elected them? Yes India today can afford the costs of such extravagance but not without compromising on the other essential infrastructure like health and education. It is because of these misplaced priorities of our netas that the country is facing a vast divide between Bharat and India and a large part of the nation has been converted into battle zones by naxals and others. The netas take vote from Aam Admi and then work for elite and this hypocrisy is pathetic and is beyond the reach of the voters who gets swayed by sentiments not realizing the real face of our netas.
