The only thing, which surprises me is that there are regular updates on Air India, which I have been patronising for more than 50 years, ever since my childhood, but in all such updates, invariably you mention the name of the CMD. Though, I have nothing personal, I do not even know him on a personal basis. At the same time, I find remarkable improvement in the services of the carrier, ever since, the present CMD is in chair.

IMAGINARY INTERVIEW WITH NAC CHAIRMAN-SONIA GANDHI

Recently my mobile has been giving me one shock after another. Yesterday I was shocked to get a call from Chairman NAC's Office:

Caller: Good morning… is that Mr. Bharat Kumar?

Me: Good morning….Yes
Caller: I'm Chairman NAC's Secretary and Madam would like to give you an interview. However, there are some rules by which you will have to abide. You will not badger her when she shows reluctance to answer a question, you will not reword the question she's refused to answer, you will not ask any personal questions and you will not ask any questions on Bofors!

Me: Isn't the last rule covered by the penultimate rule…… just joking… will try to abide by the rules!!

After a gap of a few minutes Sonia comes on the line:

Sonia: Good Morning

Me: Good morning Madam

Sonia: Please proceed with the interview

Me: Madam why during Obama's visit you kept yourself in the background?

Sonia: Moni….sorry Manmohan Ji was doing the needful and so I receded into the background!

Me: The perception is because US represents sheer capitalism and Obama heads a Nation that Muslims perceive as anti Muslim so you preferred not to link your name with this visit!

Sonia: But, Manmohan represents me!!

Me: Mohna Ji is going gaga over Obama's trip, doesn't this dent your majority minority and common man vote banks???

Sonia: Nothing of the sort!!

Me: I think this is where Diggy comes handy!! I asked Mohna ji this question too…… the timing of Chavan's and Kalmadi's sacking gives the wrong impression!!!

Sonia: It is not what it is being made out to be!!

Me: Kalmadi should have been sacked long time ago and Chavan should have been told to go when he offered to resign after this scandal broke out!!

Sonia: These are administrative matters and I'm sorry these comes under Manmohan Ji so please ask him. And I hope you abide by the rules my Secretary spelled out prior to this interview ….rule number one…. you will not badger me!

Me: Okay Madam. Now what about Raja?????

Sonia: What about him????

Me: It is very clear that he's caused a huge loss to the Nation!

Sonia: I'm not in the know of the details…. whatever I know is from the newspapers and one cannot react based on newspaper reports!

Me: Madam the perception is that Congress wants him to go but cannot because Raja is in Mohna's Cabinet not at Mohna's pleasure but at Karuna's pleasure!!

Sonia: Again I have to invoke rule 1…. no badgering!!

Me: Chalo…… isn't the Nation paying a huge price for coalition politics????
Sonia: Sorry please refer to rule 2 you cannot reword a question I've refused to answer!!

Me: What do you have to say about Sudarshan's statement????
Sonia: He should not let his love for detective novels impinge on his politics!! And no more questions on this issue… rule 2!!!

Me: Do you have any Congress leader who you can repose the same trust as you repose in Mohna???

Sonia: Frankly no!!

Me: Then shouldn't Rahul start the process of taking over????

Sonia: Here I am to blame…. when he was a kid I used to narrate the 'hare and tortoise' story to him practically every night!!! He identifies with the tortoise and that's why he believes in being slow and steady!!

Me: Though I'm flouting rule number 3 but 'steady' reminds me … is he following same story in his love life…. there were rumors that he was going steady!! When does he plan to get married???

Sonia: (in her Hintalian accent) Begani shaadhi mein Omar diwaana!!

Me: It is begaani shaadhi mein Abdullah diwana!!

Sonia: I'll give you leeway on this one…… I too want him to get married but he seems to have set some target before he ties the knot!!!

Me: Is the target that he will stay in 100 Dalit homes….. or he'll do a political Bharat Darshan …….. or he'll win UP…… before tying the knot???

Sonia: I do not have a clue about what target he's set???

Me: Tell me if you were given another chance would you like to relive this life????

Sonia: Again a personal question but I'll answer it….. in bits and pieces… never in its entirety!!!

Me: And now I invoke your rule number 1 on myself.... bye.... namaste..... ciao!!

Bharat Kumar

Congratulations to Prithiviraj Chavan

The Indian Forest Service Association ( Maharashtra ) congratulates and extends a warm welcome to Prithviraj Chavan, on his appointment as the 16th Chief Minister of Maharashtra State. The Hon' Chief Minister brings with him as enormous administrative experience of working at important levels of Government in the Centre. The Association hopes that his arrival at the helm of State Administration would usher in an era of clean, green, responsive and equitable governance in the State. Giving precedence to the concerns of urban and industrial development in the State has not been without a cost. The State's rural landscape and environment have suffered thereby stressing the already receding forest and water resources in the State. With only about 595 cubic meter availability of water per capita, the State is severely water stressed. It is about time to think "out of the box" and accord highest priority to concerns about rural landscapes and environment. Administration of Land, Forest, Water and Environment requires urgent attention at the highest level.
The Association assures the Hon' Chief Minister of its full cooperation in this endeavour.

GCL to bring few modules of MDP in 2010-11

We wish to inform MDI and various participants/trainees from different walk of life that GCL (global college of law ) is going to bring about a few modules of MDP in 2010-11 inviting senior officers from various Govt Deptts/PSBs/PSUs focussing on need of hour during correction phase aftermath global melt down as to how to keep smiling despite unbound pressures vis a vis to reach the heights of glory of the organisation concerned.

After all the achievements only can open doors for vertical career. Pessimists say ," don't take tension and work only to limited extent-- promotion is not required. What a silly approach !

GCL has a distinguished vision and intends to motivate working executives thro' MDPs (03 days programme) to work and enjoy working with a systematic and aesthetic mindset.

Foreign Jaunts of ISS Officers

The Central Statistics Organization in the Ministry of Statistics has found another way sending officers on foreign locations for excursion. After all, they also need much needed rejuvenation from the excellent job done by them at work, notwithstanding the fiasco of National Income Estimates and Index of Industrial Production.

It is ridiculous

Every successive Government knows that it hardly matters whether Government servant votes or not? To say that Congress will lose the support of Central Government Servant if it does not increase the retirement age to 60 is something ridiculous and fool-hardy. What is the contribution of Babus in Nation Building?
I request the Editor to stop publishing such useless messages in the columns of whisperinthecorridors.com.

Let politicians not create a Constitutional crisis

M Karunanidhi the DMK supremo's sole raison d' etre for seeking exemption for A Raja ( 2G Bhrashtachaar ka Raja & DOT Minister) from dismissal just because he belongs to a depressed section of society, is indeed shocking. This seemingly innocuous statement has loud overtones that threatens the basic fabric of the Rule of Law in the country. No civil society or right thinking person will endorse this divisive approach.
This is the acid test for UPA-II. The Aam aadmi is looking forward to know whether the Congress party will compromise with a corrupt coalition partner in order to remain in power or will it jettison DMK's support and uphold the principle of "Equality before the Law", irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The Congress party's flippant response that the case is subjudiced and within the prerogative of the PM, is hardly satisfying. The Court has not stayed Minister's sacking. The CAG report submitted to PM is enough evidence. If no action is taken, the UPA-II will get badly exposed in the process. Apparently, means are not important for them; but, ends are !
Raja's assertion that the PM was always kept in the loop while deciding the 2G Spectrum allocation, raises more suspicions in the public mind than dispel it. Karunanidhi is adamant and so is his protégé. Does the absence of requisite action by the principle coalition partner mean that the Aam aadmi will be forced to say good bye to Good governance and learn to live with corruption in the times to come. After having suffered huge losses in serial scams due to DOT,CWG, Adarsh Bhrashtachaar of Mumbai and Pune land scams etc in quick succession, India cannot afford a mid-term poll, at present, due to massive expenditure involved and the security scenario prevailing within and from outside the country. It is high time that a viable solution is found jointly by the ruling coalition and the Opposition, keeping the national interest above local politics. Let India's eggheads unite and instill some wisdom into these opportunistic political alliances. Earlier it is, the better. Let nobody take the public for a ride by creating a crisis of confidence.
