TOP 10 POWER CENTRES IN INDIA
1  Mrs. Sonia Gandhi : She still wields more power than PM or any other person in the country. But her absolute power has diminished after Dr Man Mohan Singh has started questioning her policies for Aam Admi.
2. Dr Man Mohan Singh: He is fast emerging as a willy Politician in his own right. He has backing of US government and enjoys personal rapport with several heads of states. He relies on Bureaucratic lobby and feedback from Intelligence agencies. He treats Rahul as his own Child and takes his advise on youth very seriously. The 10 Janpath coterie has been marginalised and he no longer takes dictates from ex- teachers and clerks close to number 10.
3. Rahul Gandhi  : He is a media darling. But PM is not in a hurry to vacate the space he is waiting to occupy. He relies on his sister for advise. Has great networking with the Billionaire's club around the world. Dislikes most members of his mothers coterie. Sometimes he consults Digvijay Singh for political advise. He wants congress to take an active secular stance on issues and criticise all caste and religion based parties.
4. Ahmed Patel : If one person has complete remote control over 10 Janpath and Media it is Patel. No Media ever criticises him and no Politician ever dares to speak about him – both negative or positive. He is the new Don of the Congress. No appointment or party post or party nomination for an election can be made without his nod. Union Ministers wait weeks to get an appointment and if you are not Haryana Chief Minister or Gujarat CM you will have to wait for days to get an appointment from him. He is regarded as modern Chanakya of  the Congress party. Industrialists from Ambani to JP Gaur to Adani to a Controversial builder in Mumbai all line up at Number 23. His goal : President of India in 2012.
5. Pranab Mukherjee: He publicly says he can never be PM and this  is his greatest asset. He is the link between political parties for  both PM and Mrs Gandhi. He is actively considering retirement and wants to leave his mark in the Finance Ministry before he demits office. His biggest dream is revival of Congress in West Bengal. He works closely with  Ahmed Patel.
6. P Chidambaram : He rules with an Iron hand and though he may have rubbed people on wrong side, he is credited for checking terrorism in the country. He is ambitious and keeps his communication live with 10 Janpath and 7 RCR. He does not want to commit the mistake Ex NSA  MK Naryanan did by ignoring 10 Janpath. His link to 10 Janpath is Ms Shobhna Bhartiya a close friend of Mrs Gandhi.
7. Janardan Dwivedi: The man who started with penning speeches for Mrs Gandhi in late 90's is now a political force to reckon who protects the interests of Brahmins in the party. He heads the Media department and does not spare even senior leaders when they are caught making off the cuff remark. And  he is also the first to defend any controversial remarks made by Rahul Gandhi.
8. Digvijaya Singh : From Rajiv’s man in Madhya Pradesh, he is now Rahul’s man of every season. A well read and intelligent politician, he does not mince words in criticising fundamentalists on both sides of the divide.  He has a long list of foes who hate him for his closeness to Rahul and they include Ahmed Patel and P Chidambaram.
9.AK Antony: He is most respected congressman in the party and Mrs Gandhi often turns to him for advise on internal party matters. He has the support of PM and Rahul as  well and has remained non controversial inspite of heading the Defence Portfolio.
10. T K A: He is the closest confidant of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He has remained very low profile and his loyalties are unquestioned towards the PM. It is said that PM and Nair are inseparable.

Aaj Ki Aawaz
Yes Sonia is first on the Power Chart!!!
Why…  because Congress and Gandhi/ Nehru one cannot tell apart!!

Rahul as Prince in waiting should be number two!!
Because like Mom he’s ‘holy for Congressmen’ too!!

Mohna comes a distant third!!!
If Sonia orders even if he shouts at the top of his voice he’ll not be heard!!

Ahmed Patel is number four!!
They say he has in his hand‘knob to Sonia’s Office door’!!

Pranab Da is number five!!!
He’s the fire fighter and negotiator but his past make his PM chances take a dive!!

Chiddy is number six!!!!
Issues he craftily picks!!

Diwedi is the speech man and is number seven!!
Can come up with a speech in a jiffy…. for Gandhis like a ‘ speech seven eleven’!

Diggy is number eight!!
Only known man who argues for and against in every debate!!

Antony is number nine!!
One of the rare few who do not make any demands before any file he has to sign!

TKA Nair is number ten!!!!!
Though he does not understand or cares for Ghalib is one of PM’s most trusted men!!!

Sonia and Mohna had divided their work scope!!
Sonia handled ‘politics’ and with mundane day to day administrative work Mohna had to cope!!

But if the mundane day to day administrative work had some political implication!!!
Mohna has to take her approval and acts only after from her he gets some ‘indication’!

Of course for a purpose to Karnataka Bhardwaj was sent!!
BJP says he’s Centre’s Agent!!

And Yeddy has too many question marks against his name!!
He’s been involved in some controversy or spat since to power he came!!

But then some would say some Congress CMs are just like Yeddy!!
But for them Congress appointed Guv’s are like a ‘lovable teddy’!!

Not like Bhardwaj who for Yeddy is like a monster or troll!!!
Who has come to Karnataka with ‘ get BJP Government dismissed’ as his goal!

Imagine our rank is below our neighbors in the Hunger Index Report!!!
To our ‘our high growth rate’ and ‘booming markets’ this is like a retort!!

It’s sad that food grains are allowed to rot than distributed to the hungry!!
I’m sure like me on this many of you would be angry!!

Confucius says…… India’s Cities boom!!!
But in many parts in rural India still there is gloom and doom!!

ICS officer dies at the age of 104
The doyen of Indian administrators worldwide, Professor Samuel Martin Burke (1906-2010), died on 9th October 2010 at the age of 104 of old age. He was the oldest living Indian ICS officer.
He was perhaps the only Indian ICS officer to have 4 careers - as an administrator, judge, diplomat and academic.
He belonged to the 1930 batch of the ICS and was alloted to the Punjab cadre. After service as a Deputy Commissioner he was a District and Sessions judge for many years.
Because of his impartiality as a Christian, he was selected as the Chairman of the First Election Tribunal of the Punjab in 1946, to adjudicate between rival claims to seats follwing the elections of 1946, that returned the Muslim League to power in the Punjab.
At independence he quit the ICS but was immediately recalled by Jinnah to join Pakistan's foreign service where he initially headed the India desk in Karachi. After that he served in the UK and US as Counsellor, as Minister-Plenipotentiary and Envoy Extraordinary to Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, as Pakistan's Ambassador to Thailand and finally as the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Canada.
He quit diplomacy in 1961, at the age of 55, to become an academic and was Professor of South Asian Studies at the University of Minnesota. He retired in 1976, at 70, and settled in UK where he lived for the next 34 years. In retirement he wrote seminal books on Pakistan's foreign policy, the history of India's independence, a biography of Akbar and the definitive biography of Jinnah. He published his last book at the age of 97!
His passing reduces the number of Indian ICS officer still alive to less than five. There are also less than 5 British ICS officers still alive.

Is the Games village a hostel or a brothel?
According to reports hundreds of white prostitutes have been imported for the entertainment of the CWG games participants. The foreigners complained bitterly about the blocked toilet flushes. On enquiry it was found that the sewage pipes were blocked by used plastic condoms used in the Games village. Some 8000 condoms seem to have been used by the foreigners in the first few days of the Games. They are still being counted. Free condom vending machines have been set up inside the CWG village. The big question is , is the Games village a hostel or a brothel? And there is the obvious health hazard to 1 billion Indians as the CWG village sewage empties out into the Yamuna carrying with it the used condoms and AIDS virus and other sexually transmitted disease viruses. This AIDS virus which is transmitted by fluids will be taken downstrem by the Yamuna to Agra, and later to Kanpur , Allahabad , Benares ,Patna and Kolkata. People who bathe in the Ganga at Benares and gulp its holy waters are in danger of catching AIDS. So all the UP and Bihar bhaiyyas and the bhadrolok of Bengal are now exposed to AIDS, thanks to the CWG Games. The only other reason for bringing in prostitutes to the Games village can be a conspiracy to distract and physically exhaust the foreign athletes so that Indians win all the gold medals, in which case the act is motivated by patriotism and deserves to be applauded.

Puri is most deserving
The suspense is not good for either Ms. Nirupama Rao-- as to whether she is likely to get an extension nor for the incumbents. Most deserving (irrespective of seniority) is H.S. Puri, presently India's PR in New York. He richly deserves the slot.

OC managers should hang their heads in shame

Why the medical profession is treated the way they are reported to have been treated is not clear. While we all want their services, we do not want to give them the status and good treatment that is due to them. For them to be grouped along with workers etc. is very shameful. I hope the OC managers would look into it. The OC officials do not realise how difficult it is to enter the medical profession and to successfully complete a PG. It is observed through the media and other sources that even in hospitals, innumerable cases of patients' attendants beating up doctors for death of patient take place. It is very unfortunate. It seems that the OC officials treat only IAS officers as "insaan" and all others as literally "mitti". This attitude should change. Sometimes, one wonders whether treatment such as this and numerous other instances where doctors are humiliated etc. is not the main reason for brain drain. Merit needs to be respected and properly appreciated. As it is, India is lacking doctors as always reported in the press. Inspite of this, they are being treated as this. The Health Ministry mandarins should wake up from their slumber and set things right.

Is Saxena a paid employee of WIC ?

Thank you BK for accepting me as a "vocal" and "forthright” browser. But, please do not degrade the WIC as a pay-master. The WIC does not pays, it only enriches the browsers free of cost. One would expect you to come out of the cocoon of anonymity and express your views boldly. Based on my personal experience, I can assure a freshman like you that the GOI appreciates forthrightness on WIC.

Covering mismanagement at CWG

I am sure the opening ceremony and the superb performance of our players in the ongoing Commonwealth Games will be used by the OC and officialdom to cover up their mismanagement at so many fronts. The tickets fiasco has grabbed even international headlines giving bad name to the country. Tickets were not available but the stadia were empty. Complimentry tickets were being sold in black market. What a mess! Our wrestlers, boxers, shooters archers and others, however have kept our morale high. God bless these men and women for keeping the flag of the country high.
