It’s a Miracle ! I recall watching a news report in 2004 on DD news about Whispersinthecorridors. And a gentleman commented “It’s a Miracle”. Thinking of it after many years of retirement we, IAS always block everything that comes to our notice. RTI finds it difficult to extricate information. However, Whispers day after day, for a decade, gets all the information it desires. I recall, once in a meeting a Principal Secretary to Prime Minister shouting at Director IB " Who the hell is this Dr Mehrotra ? How does he manage more moles in GOI than you ?" Today looking back PS to PM was perhaps right and today he relies upon this site for info now that he lives retired life. And "THE MIRACLE" continues ....... and my Salaam to your efforts. My only regret, I did not recommend you for a much deserved Padma Award.

Aaj Ki Aawaz
Without the doubt the CWG Opening Ceremony was stunning!!!
But so is the CWG Budget that's by 'miles and miles is over-running'!

Kalmadi looked pleased!!!!
But Mohna’s forehead was creased!!!

That’s because he knows CWG is a sheer waste of money!!
A Nation which has such poverty spending 70,000 crores on CWG is not funny!!

And that too a Games that remind the World of our ‘servile’ past!!
CWG is Britain ’s way of reminding the World its rule was indeed vast!!

Kalmadi got booed but Shiela Aunty got cheered!!!
The boos were genuine but the cheers rigged as for such things Aunty is well geared!

After all Aunty knew she had to let Sonia know!!!
That when it comes to Delhites she’s not lost her glow!!

OC says ‘ Games will have a $ 4 billion impact on India’s GDP over 4 years’!!!
Truth is CWG is going to bring to eyes of Indians tears!!

What happened to the infrastructure created for the Asiad????
Like take the Stadiums ....after Games were in a condition that were worse than just bad!!

Delhities will bear the brunt for CWG!!
In the end for Delhites ‘Costly and Worthless Games’ is how they will decipher CWG!!

Today Delhites will enjoy the CWG 'naach gaana'!!!
Over the next 4 years the burden passing will make them remember not only Nani but also Nana!

How true are the allegations that to get the CWG India bribed 72 Nations?????
If true then this would be on the top in the pile of condemnations!!

Its being alleged ghoos was paid to Nations to buy their votes to beat Hamilton’s bid!!
Opening of another can of worms ki lid!!

Would be interesting to know how and from where this money was arranged!!
Though I’m sure Kalmadi will say this is the allegation of someone deranged!!

In some cases were the High Commissions ordered to arrange the money via fictitious bills?
And Commissions do what Delhi wills!!

And there are million and one ways to over bill!!!
After all there is a way when one has the will!!

For all you know RAW must have pitched in!!!!
Naak ka sawaal.....this Bid India had to win!!!

They say the small and poor Nations fell for India’s bait!!!
About $ 100,000 was the going rate!!

To some poor Countries maybe ghoos went as Official Sports aid!!!
Games for getting the Games were played!!

Where was Gill during the Opening Ceremony….. was not seen??????
Maybe the cameras missed him but if he was not there than what does this mean????

Maybe he opted out and stayed at home!!!!
Because seeing Kalmadi now in the mouth he starts to foam!!

Or maybe OC forgot his invite!!!!
And to ask for an invite Gill felt it was simply not right!!

And now Kalmadi and gang have started a ‘ready for Olympics campaign’!!!
Haven’t they given India enough pain?????

Apart form the Brit High Commission I feel it’s an insult to see the Brit flag flying on our soil!
At least it made my blood boil!!!

Confucius says…. We fought to throw the Brits out and got rid of them!!!
There was a time when the Brit flag brought into our mouths loads of phlegm!!!

Adds…. In fact Nations ruled by Britain should hold protest Games …. Free World Games!!
Motto…. To oppress or be oppressed is one of the biggest shames!!!

CWG proves itself to be Common Wealth

Indeed CWG has truly proved itself to be “Common Wealth” for few politicians of Delhi under the able Chief Minister Shiela Dixit, few M.P, Ministers and bureaucrats. One of the Judge of the Highest Court of India did not mince words in conveying what general public felt about the entire episode. If Dr. Manmohan Singh and Chidambram had not stepped in to take control of the CWG then the magnificent display of “India’s Culture” and “Development” in the opening ceremony would not have got displayed so effectively.

It was ironical witnessing people like DMRC, Chief who has made we Indians proud, finding him sitting in Rs. 25,000/- complimentary pass category. The cheering of Mrs. Shiela Dixit during the opening ceremony could not camouflage the purpose for which about 100-200 people were apparently brought in by Delhi Administration to project popularity of Delhi C.M infront of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.  There was virtually no planning on “entry” of just 60,000 spectators- utter chaos prevailed outside the stadium even though entire Delhi was made to shut to facilitate the ceremony. An un-written curfew prevailed but still the organizers were unable to handle entry of people effectively who had come to attend the game with immense expectation.

As a common man I am of firm opinion that if the perpetrators of “CWG Fiasco” and apparent “Corruption of Monumental Proportion” by Delhi Government are not brought to book then the image of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh will be tarnished for no fault of theirs.  CWG has indeed created History in “Showcasing” Developing India under Mr. Manmohan Singh’s leadership in front of world but has also projected the “Rampant Corruption” let lose by a Handful of Politicians and Bureaucrats.

Apple’s iPhone

We Indians, esp. the Indian media, is busy discussing internal matters like Ayodhya Judgement, CWG, Kashmir etc keeping the foreign policy related issues at the backburner. As a result, while China is busy extending its railway network around India, Pakistan daring again to raise Kashimir issue on UN platforms and Barak Obama (America) brining on resolutions after resolutions to protect its business interests indirectly affecting Indian interests, at the same time expecting India to welcome him with open arms on his visit to this country in November. We have, however, to tolerate all this because every nation has right to protect their own interests. But how could we Indians forgive IT giants like Apple showing Indian territory under China in their new iPhone4, just because that country happens to offer a bigger market for their product. All Indians, including the Government of India, should vehemently oppose Apple’s act and discard their products immediately. The Indian Government should immediately ban Apple’s product in India and commence legal proceedings against the Company, in India as well as in the international forum. Our so-called leaders and bureaucrats also need to think seriously why even Companies are daring to take India for a ride. Has the seed of patriotism sown by Chandrasekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Dutt, Gandhi, Lajpat Rai, Azad, Subhash Bose and the like, has stopped growing?

Nation of achievers

As per the BRIC report, India should be among the top 3 nations in another 20-25 yrs but have we discussed and internalized what it takes to become a superpower. Let me try and list out the key parameters

a) Ensuring 1 Full meal a day to every citizen ( even if it means giving away the food stored in FCI godowns for Re 1 per kilo
b) Law and order in society- law abiding citizens, policing system that is not corrupted and active judicial system
c) Priority on health and Education- increase investment; more so improve the absorptive capacity of these sectors , which at present is poor.
d) Job creation, esp in Private sector- How to get single window clearances, build industrial climate for good quality production- for domestic use and for export. The skill sets in an average Indian are poorer as compared to Chinese or Brazilians
e) Global vision- How we can play a better role to improve lives of people in the region incl SAARC; ensure greater participation in UN and other Bretton Woods instruments. Perhaps create the IIDA ( Indian International Development Agency)

Panel discussion

Some years ago. there was a panel discussion by eminent persons on a TV channel in which, at the end, the participants gave ratings various professions i.e. doctors, teachers, soldiers, lawyers journalists, politicians, etc. All of them agreed to give teachers, doctors, soldiers points in that order. Politician was adjudged at the bottom. TN Seshan who was one of participants also agreed; but with the modification that journalist should be at the bottom and not the politician. others did not dispute that. I am not admirer of Seshan; but after watching the recent discussions on various delicate issues on the TV and the attitude and behaviour of well-known anchors, I cannot persuade myself to disagree with him on this issue. They are most of time negative; skip wishing something bad for the country to happen someway so that they can run their channels. Majority of the participants invited by them are old faces suitable to them with fixed ideas.

CGEWHO is in a slumber!

No new projects coming up in NCR or other metros, nor any news. No progress on "Projects/ Schemes under Planning". "Scheme expected to be announced in ..." "Further course of action is proposed to be put up..... " - These are typical examples of progress on projects. Have they bitten more than they could chew? Going to be part of history ?
