There is a shortage of over 12,000 officers at the junior and the middle rung alone in the Defence services in the country.

DEBATE (1)

Why should some one opt for a career where you have to prove yourself everyday in battle field, studies, games, physical fitness and promotion/competitive exams!!! its batter to clear IAS/IPS once and reap the benefits for whole life with assured career progression.

Sanjay

DEBATE (2)

Armed forces losing its charm has nothing to do with lack of nationalism. No serving officer would like to send his son to army unless and until he is a "nalayak". The reason is simple. There is no service in the government where 80%of any batch gets superseded at the age of around 37-38 as Lt Col. These officers are then labelled useless, without any promotional avenues. They are seldom assigned with any responsibility. All the years they toiled for the organization and the country becomes of no value. When any senior army officer talks about deficiency of officers take it from me it is just a lie. Large numbers of senior Lt Col are wiling away their time in various establishments(not their fault)without any work. Are they not counted in this deficiency!

Abay

Indian SC should also ban extension in service

Very welcome move of the Pak Supreme Court banning the extension of service of favoured civil servants being done by the political bosses. Indian SC should also do it then the nexus of corrupt babus and most corrupt politicians can be broken.

S K Singh

NHAI Chairman

It would be a great surprise if he decides early. Many experiences, like the then Minister for RD could not find time to convene EC Meeting that will decide the fate of many employees, on the long pending promotion cases in National Institute of Rural Development.

Dr Murugesan

CBDT will not be allowed to tap telephones

This is one of the recommendations of the committee appointed to look into phone tapping. Does this mean that people like Hasan Ali and Neera Radia's phone tapping by Income tax dept is a mistake? Truth is the end result of almost every crime is black money. Hasan Ali and Neera Radia are more dangerous to the country than 100 drug peddlers put together. Yes in the process of taping the phones of Radia and Ali , the high and mighty have been exposed. To protect these high and mighty it is imperative that the taping powers of Income tax department be taken away. The committee under cabinet secretary has done a shoddy job for the future of the country. Long live the corrupt.

Ajit

"The Keralite bureaucrats"!

The "Mallus" are ruling the roost in the Central government. A majority of them belongs to the 'Nair Administrative Service'(NAS)who help each other to the maximum extent in getting plum postings. This community is meritorious only in manipulating key postings for themselves irrespective of their cadres.

Use his services

MR Bhatia was the great Indian Ambassador to WTO for more than five years. He is very highly talented officer and the government should consider using his services otherwise all money spent on training him gets wasted.

RTI

Misuse of the Act

The appellant sought information regarding grant in aid given to DAV College etc. and was offered the opportunity to inspect all the records. He instead filed second appeal before the Commission. Respondents stated that the appellant was in the habit of filing RTI applications and had filed 250 RTI applications to date through which he sought voluminous and old information. Usually, the appellant does not appear before the First Appellate Authority when his appeal comes

live for receiving the information. They submitted that the appellant who is a former contractual employee of D.A.V. College has already been provided information under the present RTI application running into over 200 pages and have so far provided him thousands of pages of
information against his other RTI applications. The Commission ruled that such vexatious applications can be summarily dismissed at the level of the CPIO since it is obvious that these applications are not being preferred in public interest and are in fact adversely impacting
the functioning of the public authority instead of strengthening it, which is contrary to the letter and spirit of the RTI Act.

Comments

Cases where the appellant is misusing the RTI Act to settle personal scores with his former employer are not uncommon. This ruling provides a definitive way for summarily dismissing those applications at the level of the PIO which causes disruption in normal work and strain on
the financial resources.
