Aaj Ki Aawaz

Pawar and others in the Cabinet who are actively involved in running Sports Bodies should have excused themselves when the Cabinet took up Maken's proposed Bill!!!! And our 'spineless and gutless' Mohna, sorry but now this is how majority of Indians feel about him, did not even bother to point out to them that propriety demanded that they leave the room!!! Really what use to the Nation is this man's 'nikami' (useless) honesty!!!! He consistently sides with the dishonest!!!! Maken's Bill would have corrected many wrongs in the administration of Sports in India!!

When will India be delivered from this honest PM who always sides with the dishonest????

He's added a new dimension to definition of 'honest'!!!!

Laloo , Amar and Manish should not be on the Lokpal Standing Committee!!!! In fact as all Leaders have a bias against this Bill so the Committee is as it is biased against this Bill!!! But this trio have shown extraordinarily that they are not fit to be on this Committee......refer to Laloo's and Amar's history and Tiwari's recent utterances!!! And a word of advice to Singhvi who Chairs this Committee.... don't try your stunts here....... Public is sick of corruption in India ...... and Public has tasted blood..... so if Singhvi tries his usual ....number 1, number 2 , number 3 arguments to derail this Bill he can be sure he'll be creating chaos in India...... okay he'll be doing it for Madam but ultimately he'll have to take the blame!!! Playing mischief time is over and the sooner Congress realizes this the better!!!! And hope Rahul has realized that his attempts to delay the Lokpal Bill have flopped.....of course he tried to do this in the garb of a 'do-gooder'...... game-changer..... bah.......what does he think we are fools!!! He better realize the average Indian's IQ is higher than his!!! And Arundhati Roy's expressing doubts on this Bill is a extreme case of sour grapes!!!

Jan Lokpal will be a reality sooner than later!!!!!

Or Congress will be billed as 'chaos creator'!!!

I too do not want Afzal Guru to hang........but not for the reasons that Omar is demanding Afzal not be hanged!!! Death Penalties do not curb murders......take USA...... if USA has to curb murders it needs to amend its liberal gun laws!!! We have to move away from this barbaric practice of Capital Punishment!!!! Families of those killed in the Parliament attack should get more benefits.... Afzal's hanging is not going to improve their condition or replace the killed member from their family!!!!

Do not try to take on the role of Allah!!!!

Only HE can take or give life akallah (sole)!!!

Punjab's Sheikh Chilli (folklore fibster extraordinaire) or Manpreet Badal says that within 100 days of his becoming CM, what a laugh, he will take one hundred decisions!! Fact is after the elections he'll be taking just one decision...... 'should I go back to Thayaaji (Uncle or Senior Badal) on my knees or should I go get Dad to get me back into Akali Dal???? Basically Manpreet's Party is leaking and by the time Punjab elections are held all his close associates would have disassociated with PPP!!! Bhattal in the hope of being considered for being CM if Congress wins has gone in for a image makeover..... in her case it is a facial, makeup and a new hairdo!!! Amrinder despite his health and marital problems is hoping for a nod from High Command... technically the baton has not been handed over to him!!! All Parties in Punjab are 'stocking up' be it bhuki, hafeem or liquor for Punjab Elections!!!

Punjab ko khaa gayi bhuki, hafeem teh sharaab!!!

State of affairs is really extremely kharaab!!

PS........ Congress's Membership forms should have a 'health warning'...... if you leave the Party it could have very bad affects on your physical and economical health'....... and they can put Natwar's or Jagan's pics as pictorial warnings! Sheila Aunty has all of a sudden become religious...... she's hoping for Divine deliverance from CWG woes..... and her quest for divine intervention is Secular!!!!

Will fund raising by political parties be exempt from govt revenues?
CBDT is still pondering over it and the loss thereof, but there is a great deal of political pressure for the same, say sources. Since most of the time the payments are made in cash, so there is already a loss of revenue to the exchequer, they say.

Was RSS planning to raise the anti corruption issue a year ago and wanted the BJP to take up the matter ? Yes, if those close to RSS top shots are to be believed. However, the saffron party - mired in the corruption issues itself - kept on avoiding the hock. Finally RSS chose a credible face Anna.

Is Sushma planning to be PM ?

Why is the Army General being pinned down with age issue?
Why is the Army General being pinned down with age issue? There is more to the controversy of fixing the age of General VK Singh at the year 1950 than what meets the eye. With RBI relaxing rules - allowing Corporates to enter banking space, the hot topic is who will enter the already crowded private banking space. DEBATE (1)

It will affect the civilian nature of police

Sir, the major objection to such a large scale entry of Army officers into IPS is that it will certainly affect the civilian nature of police. The founding fathers of the Constitution took pains to establish a Constitutional Civil Service. This will make the police more para military. It will definitely suit the politician who want to perpetuate their rule. Is that what our Constitution envisaged?

Even Defence doesn't has surplus

What is the point in shifting vacancies. I suppose even Defence doesn't has surplus. Above that, add the cost of training in Army. However it may be good for individuals.

Quite interesting

Having worked a full term as FA long time back, I find the comments and complaints of one FA holding charge of more than one ministry interesting. FA's post is not much sought after by bureaucrats because of its negative appeal. Moreover a FAs job in a Ministry is not a full time job and the officer mostly get underutilized. Many do not have even two hours work. Naturally Government saddles FAs with more than one ministry, some permanently and some temporarily. Some are given additional charge of PSUs under the Ministries and some shift permanently to these posts. There is nothing new in this. Our present PM though over ruled many times in the postings of senior officials by his political masters, has found a unique way of controlling Ministry finances by posting his own select officers as FAs. If some of them get more than one Ministry, there is nothing special about it.

N K Mathur

Even heads of the bureaucracy harass officers

An All India Service Officer for all purpose is an All India Service Officer but actually he is an orphan left at the mercy of the state government. Recently, several instances of harassment of the officers have come to light. Politicians and Chief Ministers harass and it is their job to harass. It is ok. But what happens to Chief Secretary and DGP 'so called 'head of the bureaucracy? probably they would be prostrating and lying down before the cm's . either for becoming information commissioners or getting an party ticket . Several chief secretaries who would prostrate have actually become information commissioners ( e.g. Srinivasan). Now we should see what would present Chief Secretary be after the retirement whereas Navin Jain would get tossed out by the media as gullible and cynical bureaucrat etc.

R S Singh

A solution

The solution in respect of persons promoted/date of increment between Feb 2006 to June 2006, is that an amount of 0.5% per month may be allowed and added to the increment on 01.07.2007 (considering that those who completed 6 months on 01.07.2006 got an extra increment of 3%). This will be in line with the variable increment accepted by the VIth Pay Commission. Alternately, for the period from Feb 2006 to December 2006, 0.25% per month may be allowed, as for the next 6 months (01.01.07 to 30.06.2007) one full increment of 3% will be allowable.

This will reduce the gap from persons joining/increment on 01.01.06, who would get first increment on 1st July 2006, and keeping sufficient seniority compared to persons joining/increment on 01.01.2007.

Hope the participants of the anomaly committee will accept this suggestion and this matter can be resolved.

D.K.Singh

Keep the good work going.

Dear Anil,

A highly motivating and extremely well written piece in the honour of our uniformed men. I wish a copy is sent to the PM and the Defence Minister. Keep the good work going.

Everything has a price in this country

It should be clearly understood by Bhushans and Kejriwals etc. that whosoever bad this Government and this parliament may be and howsoever honest Anna may be, he cannot be and should not be substitute for the duly elected Parliament and constitutionally constituted Government. If this happens, it will be a very bad precedent. No body should give ultimatums and deadlines to the Government and Government should not take them. Perhaps new more laws are needed in this country. The existing ones should be implemented strictly. Today no body is afraid of law, because it is almost impossible to prove the wrong doer guilty and if proved guilty to punish him, especially if he is rich. Everything has a price in this country, including seemingly most of the judiciary whose image among the people is not better than that of the government.

RTI

DPS is a Public Authority

Information related to admission made by the Delhi Public School (DPS), Rohini under the policy framework specified by the Department of Education (DoE) for the academic year 2010-2011 was denied claiming that since it is an Unaided Private Institution, the RTI Act is not applicable to the school. The CIC noted that 10,000 sq. mtrs. of land was allotted to the School by the DDA at a nominal rent of Rs. 10/- per annum while another 6000 sq. mtrs. have been allotted at concessional rate of Rs. 65 lacs per acre. The CIC observed that the terms and conditions of service of employees of DPS are as per the norms of DoE and the School enjoyed exemption from Income Tax on its earnings. The presence of two nominees from the DoE in the Managing Committee indicated the Government control in the running and administration of the DPS. The CIC held that the DPS, Rohini fulfills the essential elements of being called a 'Public Authority'.

Comments

Getting a child admitted in a good school has been very difficult for the residents of Delhi. Hopefully, this order would usher in transparency in the working of the educational institutes in the country who shall now be bound to designate PIOs.
