Will the government be able to over -rule its own laws of land acquisition ?
Will the new avtar of the Manmohan Government even after the CCI is constituted, be able to over-rule its own new laws on land acquisition, which will now require more consent and hence more time?If the prices to be paid are two times the market price in urban areas and four times in rural areas, how will any project be viable? Who will even come to the CCI for clearance with such costs? How is the CCI going to convince states that they must not delay land acquisition (land being a state subject) for big projects? Can the CCI replace states in decision-making? Or should states be co-opted into the CCI depending on where the project is to be located? Is the whisper in corporate circles making rounds.

Its amazing

It is amazing that a report likes "Engineer replaces IAS officer" has been shown as something strange. I would like to put on note the fact that in several infrastructure companies - Engineers have been appointed MD's. UP state bridge corporation is one prime example and always done outstanding work - cause its led by people who understand the business. High time that the country starts to promote its technocrats

Every service in important

Every Service is Equally Important: Comment is not complete. What about technical Services of Govt of India like ITS, IRSE, IRSSE, IRSEE, IBS etc where brilliant and loyal to country Engineers are recruited through UPSC who have excelled through out their academic career and remained in India instead of going to abroad and continued in their engineering field instead of becoming a babu for misusing power. Please acknowledge the good work and brilliance of Technical Services officers else the frustration of these officers will doom this Nation.

Ashish

Why only Ias, IFS, IPS and IRS only Mr Singh? I hope that you think IDAS, IPoS, CSS and even SO and Assistants sevices are important. Each play its own role.

Yes all services are important

CBI more important

What Mr.Gupta sais is nothing new.It is the bureaucrats and politicians who can bring the changes,if they want.Unfortunately everyone is gaining from the present status quo.Is CBI a transparent organisation?Would suggest Mr.Gupta to make his organisation more transparent.
