Mukesh Ambani upbeat about Retail and RIL
Foundation
MDA "Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani was seen very upbeat during RIL 38th
AGM held in Mumbai. Categorically Reliance Retail and Reliance bij -
Bharat India Jodo was the reason of this. Mentioning about Reliance
Retail Ambani said, "we opened its first set of stores about five
years ago. This initiative has now grown into a 1300 store business
spanning 18 states". "We have created new employment opportunities
for over 50,000 people - around 25,000 of them are directly employed
by us. In the past year we have opened new stores across all formats
- in our value formats, Reliance Fresh, Reliance Super and Reliance
Mart and in speciality formats, like Reliance Digital, Reliance Trends
and Reliance Foot print. We have the largest loyalty customer base of
over 90 lakh people who visit our stores and buy from us regularly".
Ambani also looked very jovial talking about Reliance Foundation which
he said is not for profit but a professional organization. Ambani said,
"last year I had spoken about launching of Reliance bij - Bharat
India Jodo. He said, "Today we provide education to over 15,000
children across 12 schools. Reliance bij now operates in over 350 villages
in nine states of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka,
Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu".

Nitin Gadkari accepts Sanjay Joshi's resignation?
(UPDATED)
Sanjay Joshi, a veteran RSS Pracharak with a stronghold in BJP resigns
from the primary membership of BJP. BJP Spokesperson Prakash Jawadekar
announced (on Friday in a press conference) that ' Sanjay Joshi tenders
his resignation to party president Nitin Gadkari which he accepts.'
Jawadekar strictly avoided any counter question on the reasons and rationale
of Joshi's resignation. The matter is not as simple as it appears. BJP's
mouthpiece 'Kamal Sandesh' had recently expressed that 'it puts a big
question mark on one's leadership if he fails to take his colleague
along.' There are whispers in the corridors of power-politics that Joshi's
resignation was part of the game-plan in BJP's internal politics. It
is speculated that it was designed in a manner to portray a BJP veteran
as villain.

India needs to make overhauling in democratic setup
India needs to make serious overhauling in its democratic setup. Intellectuals
must brainstorm to make a strategy and roadmap for future keeping interest
of country in view. All the developed countries have done this in past.
Don't involve IAS community as they are only interested in self serving
their interest. I am amazed at times to see that Civil service exam
only decides the future if a bureaucrat.

Toilet renovation
Two toilets renovated at a cost of Rs 35 lakhs in planning Commission
have shocked and angered many. To sooth public anger Montek Singh Ahluwalia
may consider levying a fee of Rs 5 per person who may like to see the
toilet and Rs 10 for those who may want to use it and ask Tourism Department
to include the toilets in the list of places of tourist interest in
Delhi. This way he can recover the cost in two three months time and
showcase his genius. Thereafter the success story can be replicated
elsewhere.

Can the reasons for suspension be sought under RTI?
The appellant filed an application under the Right to Information (RTI)
Act raising some questions about the validity of the bank's action in
suspending him from service while not suspending another officer. The
Public Information Officer (PIO) replied that the queries did not amount
to information. The Central Information Commission (CIC) noted that
the appellant wanted to know the reasons for placing him under suspension
and not some other officer. Holding that these reasons can be easily
found in the relevant file noting, the Commission directed the PIO to
provide the photocopies of all file noting and other correspondence,
relating to the decision of the competent authority for suspending him
from service. The Commission also asked the PIO to provide him with
the copies of the relevant file noting in respect of the other officer
named by the appellant in his RTI application if there is any such noting
available in any file.
Comments
With the advent of the RTI Act, many of the files marked as "confidential"
are now coming out of the closet. Denial of information can now be done
only as per section 8 or 9 of the RTI Act.
