DEBATE -FDI

FDI in retail

I think government should have consulted all parties before taking final decision. Further, what will happen to patriwalas, rehriwalas and khokhewalas. Where will the poor go? How will they survive? Where will small farmers go? Will this end mass suicides by Vidarbh farmers...You must have an alternative before taking such bold steps.

Poor needs roti and not FDI at this juncture. Give them source of survival and employment if you can. Since ours is a welfare state and not a bania shop, public welfare should be the end result of all decisions. Govt must talk to all and satisfy all before taking such drastic decisions. Furthermore, when you are yourself surviving on others support, don't act as if you own the world.

PKS

Stop making hue and cry on retail FDI

Political parties should stop making hue and cry on retail FDI issue. Given the global economic situation, there will be very few serious foreign takers. But at least some black money will come back through FDI route. Let us welcome it.

Why is there no meter taxi in Delhi

1. I have lived in Kolkata and Mumbai. In both the places you can hail a taxi in middle of the night at any place in town .

2. Similarly in any big city of Europe, America or Asia you can hail a taxi at any time and pay by the meter.

3. Unfortunately in Delhi public transport of taxis is non existent. As a result it is nearly impossible to travel across the city except by your own car.

4. Apparently some higher up is colluding with probably the auto union or car manufacturer to ensure continuance of this chaos.

5. Hope the prime minister will do something to end this corrupt collusion.

6. Why can't Delhi issue licence to say 10000 meter taxis to run on city roads like any other city in the world.?

7. I would like the view of fellow readers.?

Prices of real estate through the roof in India

Everybody knows that prices of real estate are through the roof in India. Builders sell dwelling units at far higher prices than the intrinsic worth of these units. Government is least interested though. It does not allow Housing Boards in various states or other Government agencies to build homes on the one hand and is willing to give packages to the builders lobby on the other. The pernicious builders lobby with its money bags increases prices citing market forces but when prices should be down, does not allow prices to decrease and asks for packages and measures from the Government. What happens to market forces when prices should correct themselves to realistic levels ? This unholy nexus persists and the aam admi keeps suffering, the politician-real estate tycoon-broker nexus becomes stronger every day.

RIT

Detail of the correspondence between PM and Chief Justice of India

The appellant sought the copies of records related to the correspondence between the Chief Justice of India and the Prime Minister regarding the proposed amendments to the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The Public Information Officer (PIO) provided some of the records like the copies of the letters exchanged between the Chief Justice of India and the Prime Minister. In respect of the related files, PIO observed that one of those files was under submission before higher authorities and the other file contained certain number of pages, presumably, implying that it could be disclosed only on payment of the usual photocopying charges without expressly stating so. Neither the appellant deposited the photocopying charges nor did the PIO provide the copies of that particular file. The Central Information Commission (CIC) noted that the appellant was not clearly told the amount to be deposited and after the lapse of such a long time, there is no question of amount to be charged from the appellant for providing the copies of the records. The Commission directed the PIO to send the photocopy of the related file after severing any information which is exempt as per the provisions of Section 8 of the RTI Act after passing a speaking order.

Comments

The demand for fee should be made categorically giving the mathematic calculation how the further fee has been calculated. Further, the name and address of the first appellate authority should be given where the applicant can file an appeal if he finds the fee prohibitive.
