5 IFS officers shifted in MP
As many as five officers of Indian Forest Service (IFS) have been transferred and posted at different places in Madhya Pradesh. Accordingly, A S Ahlawat (1980) has been appointed as APCCF, Work Plan and Forest Land Record while Vidhan Chandra (1980) will now be APCCF, HRD and Dr A K Singh (1982) is APCCF, Joint Forest Management with additional charge of Coordination. Besides, K P Singh (1983) has been posted as Chief Conservator of Forests, Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur on deputation and A K Baronia (1983) will now be Deputy Conservator of Forest, Judiciary Affairs, Jabalpur.

Food Minister Thomas visits CWC, ICP Attari (UPDATED)
Prof K V Thomas, Union Minister of State (IC) for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution visited the Cargo Terminal of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari operated by Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) on April 10, 2013. During the visit B B Pattanaik, Managing Director, T K Doshi, Director (MCP), CWC, Rana, Commandant, BSF and senior officials of the Customs and BSF were present. Minister took round of the Passenger Terminal and Cargo Terminal of ICP and was informed of the infrastructure and facility available at the ICP and the EXIM trade with Pakistan through land route. ICP, Attari developed by the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), Ministry of Home Affairs spread over 120 acres started functioning on 13th April, 2012. The management of the Cargo Terminal at ICP has been entrusted to the CWC. During 2012-13, handling of export trade registered a growth of 50% while the import trade registered a growth of 100% over the previous year. Minister expressed his satisfaction over the management of Cargo Terminal by CWC. Minister also witnessed the joint parade by BSF and Pakistan Rangers at the joint check post at Wagah border in evening.

Coke Ovens Battery complex commences production at Rourkela Steel Plant (UPDATED)

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has crossed a major milestone in its ongoing Modernisation and Expansion activities with the commencement of coke pushing from its new state-of-the-art Coke Oven Battery No. 6. Coke dry cooling plant (CDCP), Coal Handling Plant as well as Coal Chemicals unit also became operational concurrently. The total investment in this entire complex is around Rs.1400 crores.

C S Verma,Chairman ,SAIL while congratulating CEO, RSP and the Collective, on this occasion stated that with the start-up of this new battery at RSP as well as the new Coke Ovens Battery No. ,11 at ISP in Feb’13, SAIL has reaffirmed its commitment for environment friendly coke making through adoption of CDCP and other pollution abatement systems. In addition, this is a major milestone towards integrated commissioning of RSP modernization wherein the new state of the art 4060 m3 Blast Furnace, the largest in the country, is also expected to be commissioned within one month.

The new Battery, which is second of its kind in SAIL, is top charged having compound twin flue, under jet, regenerative heating with partial recirculation of waste gases. The 7 metre tall battery of 67 ovens will produce 0.768 MT/Year of gross coke. The Computerized Heating Control System (COHC) has been installed for the battery operation for the process management system to reduce environmentalemission, improve coke quality and productivity.

Don't bar Private Hospitals
I am in agreement with all those who have requested that good Private Hospitals should be on panel of CGHS for all Medical services. It is we bureaucrats only who can come out with such self destructive idea's. Can we expect Secretary Health / DG - C G H S to reverse this decision? They must remember that after a year or two, they will also need quality medical attention as a Pensioner. If we can't provide quality medical services in government hospitals, then why should we bar Private Hospitals from providing the facilities?

We need to have some more of the private hospitals in CGHS panel. There are not enough Govt. hospitals to take care of all CGHS beneficiaries .Government must act and review its decision.

A Fine Brain, A Restless Soul: Dr B R Ambedkar
Dr B R Ambedkar indeed was a great achiever! The qualities of his brain become clear by the academic success he made in his life: MA, PhD, DSc, Bar-at-Law, LLD, D Litt. It would look perfectly normal to achievers, excepting that Ambedkar overcame great impediments that might be unimaginable for others- he got admission in to the school with great difficulty, had to sit almost outside the class, carry his own jute sack for sitting and take it back home and drink from the water poured to him by the school peon if available, otherwise remain thirsty. No complaints, for he was not hampered- the spirit to do great got over these barriers to progress. He didn't stop before attaining the highest academic awards. Those were no honorary degrees as would be established by his prolific writings and historic speeches. He once wrote that a man is born independent and should aim at personal and societal development. He said that a great man is different from an eminent one as he is always ready to be the servant of the society. Great thinkers have always considered service as the most difficult form of religious or spiritual practice. Only highly developed minds can think on those lines. Ambedkar considered the cultivation of mind as the ultimate aim of human existence. How many of us would engage on such unrewarding (?) activity in these tumultuous times? Ambedkar was emphatic on another point: We are Indians, firstly and lastly. One can peep into the restless soul of a political thinker, an economist and a legal brain when he wanders in search of that ultimate aim of human existence that takes him into the realm of superior consciousness of 'religion/spirituality' and opts for Buddhism at last! His contemporaries in Europe and America were also
making efforts to unravel the mysteries of human existence. But did that really serve his restless soul that was not looking for Moksha or salvation or heaven but trying to find answers for the social inequalities afflicting humanity not only in India but elsewhere equally.

Basic fabric of BSF could have been ruined
The basic fabric of the BSF would have been ruined, had they been able to get their ill conceived plan implemented. BSF has been saved by the skin of the teeth. The Police officers are not aware of the culture of the organisation. It is the camaraderie nod espirite -de- core that drives the force to excel. They do not know anything about it and they would have started earning money in transfer posting as they do in the Police. Has anyone seen the Movie Jolly LLB?
