Contribution to Chandigarh
Being a Chandigarhian, I can't forget the contribution of Ankur to Chandigarh.
As a committed officer Ankur tried his best to improve sagging administrative
standards of Chandigarh. A good officer like him was wasted for three
long years. Best of luck to Ankur.

No blame game on Civil Services Day
The PM is urged not to blame the bureaucracy on the Civil Services Day
(April 21,2013). While giving a pep talk to India Inc at the last CII
annual meeting, the PM while admitting that 'coalition' and 'corruption'
were problems, spared no efforts in blaming the Indian bureaucracy saying
that the "bureaucratic inertia" posed a problem for investors.
This realisation came a decade too late. The Indian bureaucracy in its
anxiety to please the political masters , has lost its way in the labyrinths
of corridors of powers. Compulsions of Coalition politics, Corruption
and Bureaucratic inertia, are now indivisible parts of Indian polity.
It would be appropriate for the PM to suggest steps to make the bureaucrats
perform their duties diligently as per Constitution of India, independent
of political interferences

Myth about so called "higher" caste Hindus
A myth is being perpetuated about so called "higher" caste
Hindus being "sawarna". The thing is, the term "caste"
Hindus includes all Hindus except those called "awarna", who
have been referred to in different points of time as untouchables, depressed
classes, Harijans and now as Dalits. All OBCs are actually "sawarna",
since they are all "caste" Hindus and have never been subjected
to the notion of untouchability. The Yadavs, the Kurmis, the Lodhs,
they are all "caste" Hindus and "sawarna". Indeed,
Lord Krishna himself was a Yadav. The notion of untouchability and its
practice was a blot on society. It was condemned during by all participants
in the freedom struggle unanimously. Thus, there weren't two freedom
struggles. There was only one. Social and religious reform was part
of the freedom movement. Hindu society decided to reform itself. It
did so successfully. When the Republic came into being, untouchability
and associated practices were abolished by Law. The srtuggle against
caste oppression was carried out by the freedom fighters who were fighting
against the British. The British were interested in perpetuating differences
between the "caste" Hindus (which includes the OBCS) on the
one hand and the "depressed classes" on the other. Our leaders
who led the freedom struggle in various phases and forms viz. Raja Ram
Mohun Roy, Mahatma Phule, Justice Ranade, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Madan
mohun Malviya, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Gandhi, Nehruu, Tagore, Patel,
Prasad, Maulana Azad, Babu Jagjivan Ram, Subhas Bose, Bipin Chandra
Pal, Chandrasekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Ashfaqullah, Frontier Gandhi
Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, they were fighting on all fronts, they fought
against foreign domination and also fought against superstition, caste
oppression, religious dogma, ignorance and poverty. In making a deity
out of Babasaheb Ambedkar (who all of us revere), let us not forget
history so completely. Babasaheb was a great man. But he himself acknowledged
the truth. That is the reason why he rejected the "separate electorates"
put forth by the British in the historic "Poona pact".
Vijay Kumar
Equally shocking
It's equally shocking that those who never fought for India's freedom
in any manner became the son in laws of nation after independence. They
got all the benefits of independence despite openly siding with the
British all through the freedom movement. Those Dalits and so called
backwards must thank their stars that the earlier leaders who were all
from the general catagories made them grow at the price of their own
heads. It's a great example of .. bakre ki jaan gayi ..khaane waala
khush na hua ..
