National Population Register

The Union Cabinet was right when it expressed its reservations about the National Population Register Project of MHA with a total cost of more than Rs.4000 crores. Although the Cabinet in its meeting did not straightaway rejected the project as it came from a senior Minister, it passed it on to a Group of Ministers for examination. It's really unfortunate that MHA or for that matter the Registrar General of India showing scant regard for the Cabinet, has gone ahead with its intensive campaign Desh Kee Mitti on all the private TV Channels at a cost of miilions of rupees asking citizens to join in the project. Will someone fix the responsibility for this faux pas ?

Excellent performers being harassed

The spine less bureaucracy is being more and more evident the way the excellent performers during Common Wealth Games are being harassed. Instead of rewarding them for the spectacular performance in all adverse circumstances, they are being harassed for doing the right thing- the right way-at the right time. The harassment is by whom, by those who are settling their personal non-performing scores or being just spectator to the entire episode. Does it enhance what the CabinetSecretary is trying to push i.e. Performance Matters---well, the actions of many of Ministries and Officers do not endorse the same. No wonder today Decision Paralysis and non-confidence prevail more and more.

CGHS beneficiaries

While the government hospitals are overcrowded and one have to have connection to get the appointment from doctor/specialist, private hospitals always try to over treat and go for unnecessary tests to make money. Their primary objective is not only to treat but to make money otherwise doctor will loose his job? Moreover the government employee gets step motherly treatment as they get peanuts as compared to regular private patients and I have experienced that a senior doctor in one of the most prestigious hospital send me out without even signing the prescription as he got a call from foreign patient. This is the situation and one has to believe only on God, not doctors. May God save all of us, specially government employees.

Transfers in IT department be effected in June

Annual General Transfers in the Income Tax Department should be done every year in the same month, i.e. June. Last year, orders came too late i.e. in September and this year, the same are attempted to be too early i.e.in first week of April. The time of transfers should not be dependent on the month in which Member (P) or Chairman, CBDT is retiring and AGT should be done uniformly in June. This would allow officers to wind up the year's work and have time for vacation before they are asked to pack their bags.

Officials also make money

The higher authorities not only misuse staff car but also make money out of it. In many regional centres, the official sends the vehicle to workshops and carry out some works just on paper. The looted money is shared between officer and driver.
