Let us not forget, while berating the so called "forward" castes that Nehru, Patel, Prasad, Maulana Azad spent years in British jails during the freedom struggle (Chandrasekhar Azad, Ashfaqullah, Bhagat Singh gave their lives) while Ambedkar did not spend a single minute but today, in the vote bank politics of free India, those sacrifices are forgotten (even Babu Jagjivan Ram and his sacrifices, his years in British prisons are forgotten and obeisance is paid to Ambedkar).

Politicians securing vote banks

A lot is being written about reservations on your esteemed site. I am grateful for publishing my comments also. Firstly, I make it clear that I do not consider SC/STs are lesser intelligent than non-SC/STs. However, without time and again encroaching upon your valuable space, I humbly want to ask these questions from your readers (i) Is reservation justified for a candidate whose father or maybe even grandfather had got the benefit, became gazetted officers/ above and have attained economic status sufficient to provide good education to his sons/daughters? (ii) Why should such people not be excluded and benefit should be given to other SC/STs; so that only the needy get the benefit and economic equality (iii) Is not present reservation policy discrimination to educated but poor non-SC/STs; (iv) Are not the politicians (all) using and concentrating on this policy to secure vote banks and are neglecting governance?
