Preparations for Vibrant Gujarat 2013 in full
swing
Hectic preparations are going on for Vibrant Gujarat 2013 Summit. It
is 6th edition of the biennial global conclave that the Government of
Gujarat (GOI)organises to create a perfect platform to understand and
explore business opportunities in the State. This year's mega event
acquires much vital significance because this is going to maiden appearance
by Narendra Modi before global audience after he was sworn in Chief
Minister of Gujarat for the 4th time. The Summit is being held at Mahatma
Mandir, Gandhinagar on January 11-13, 2013.The biennial global Summit
held by the Government of Gujarat brings together business leaders,
investors, corporations, thought leaders, policy and opinion makers.
It provides an excellent platform for showcasing products and services
on the one hand and one-to-one meetings, roundtable conferences and
B2B meets between prospective investors and government officials on
the other.
Is India facing a fiscal cliff ?
India's economy is dangling dangerously from the two cliffs-the current
account deficit (CAD), which is the difference between what the country
earns and spends abroad, and the fiscal deficit, the gap between what
the government spends and earns back home. Both cliffs lead to slowdown
and financial crisis.
Has Jaya and Shivraj set tone over state law and order?
Stringent laws and strict policing is going to be the agenda for most
states in 2013.Jayalalitha and Shivraj Singh Chauhan have set the tone
for law and order in their states. Will the coming year see CM's competing
with each other to prove that besides their states being a good investment
destination is also safe for investors and women ?
Does Mulayam miss Amar Singh ?
It is learnt from reliable sources that Mulayam Singh misses the presence
of Amar Singh. He used to manage family, finances, and party matters
but now there are multiple power senters in the party, frictions within
the party and between family members. Finances are becoming a fiefdom
of each individual who heads the ministry say observers.

There are many brilliant officers in SC/ST community too
As someone who belongs to other caste, I must confess that there are
many brilliant officers in the SC/ST community, I have seen in the Telecom
department, they are too good technocrats but they are not given the
CR's they deserve and it is being done deliberately. The fault lies
with us the so called upper castes we have done nothing for the nation
nor allow others to come up. If proper CR's are not given, they get
demoralised and don't give 100 percent. Today if such a bill is proposed,
the other castes themselves are responsible because we never encourage
others to grow and develop because of their caste!.

Merit is not the sole hegemony
Today where does India rank in terms of development. For years since
Independence only a small minority has ruled the nation in bureaucracy
without actually developing the country. India cannot boast of any breaking
inventions, discoveries etc where these establishments are outside the
purview of reservation. Merit is not the sole hegemony of a certain
section. All are born intelligent except that they are deprived or deliberately
deprived of opportunities. Have people forgotten Ekalavya's story. The
same is being repeated now.

IPS bosses reluctant to pass on benefits
It is well known that the officers of almost all the CPMF have approached
the High Courts at different places seeking directions to the Government
to extend the benefits of non functional upgradation to their Cadres.
However, the IPS bosses of these CPMFs do not want this benefit to be
extended to these officers. Resultantly, they have not even cared to
file replies to the petitions even after 6 months of these having been
filed. Recently, the High Court of Delhi has imposed a penalty of Rs
50,000/- on CRPF for not having filed the reply. I think a similar penalty
on the authorities of BSF will only spur them to file the reply
