Adopt transparency in appointing Governors

While political compulsions like keeping away from state's inconvenient and trouble making party men, rewarding dynastic loyalty and giving trouble to opposition ruled states etc can be understood in selecting Governors, one fails to understand the criterion for selecting retired bureaucrats and defence officers as Governors. While there are exceptions, most of the bureaucrats thus selected were door mats of the political parties while in service. As far as former defence officers are concerned such selections without any criteria will politicize the forces, Generals trying to placate political parties in expectation of a post-retirement Governor's or Ambassador's jobs. It is time there should be a transparent process in selecting retired bureaucrats and Generals for gubernatorial posts.
