Who is responsible?
Even after warning and information from MET department that a heavy rain fall during June 15-20, 2013, the required measures were not taken. UK Govt, did not stop yatra nor given advise to visitors as advised by MET department that yatris to be shifted to safer place. It has caused human losses in thousands and complete disaster in those areas. Is someone responsible or it will go just like this?

Frank, true opinion of Brig Prasad commendable
First of all I congratulate Brig. Prasad to give his free, frank, true and bold opinion. He deserves congratulations from all right thinking citizens of the country. I fully endorse his opinion. I am also not going to donate in PM's relief fund as the same is not going to serve the required purpose. For this disaster in Uttarakhand all responsible officials whoever he may be should be pinpointed and punished to avoid such calamities in future.

A J Jain

Will country learn lesson from Uttarakhand disaster?
I was in Uttarakhand in a safe place from Jun 4 June to June 25.This was our annual getaway to the hills for a month to beat Delhi heat , walking in the forest and just marveling at the gifts of nature. When destruction struck after multiple tsunamis of rivers in spate and the images of devastation caused were flashed on TV two things struck us. How so much construction could be allowed in Kedarnath. Way back in 1988 when we went there, it was just the shrine, a small rest house, a few tents for those who had perforce stay for the night and a small stall selling pooja tidbits. Pilgrims were required to have darshan and move back to Gaurikund for the night stay. It was so peaceful in the area with a glacier as its backdrop that one could really feel the presence of divine energy. One was shocked to see now the buildings, shops, hotels, dharamshalas having come up there totally destroying thefragile environment of the place. Similarly how were multistoried houses and buildings permitted on the banksof the rivers with loose soil. We have encroached on the banks and beds of our rivers and we expect them to flow in the narrow margins left for them even when rain God is generous with rains. These rivers Mandakini Bhagirithi,Alaknanda showed their fury carrying everything that came their way. Another thing that disturbed one was the total failure of the state administration to meet with the situation. They simply looked lost, confused and helpless. Totally paralysed. Two of the District Magistrates who were shown talking to the media were so unimpressive that one wondered how in the first place they were able to get into the premier civil service of the country. When we dilute the standards and make recruitment on the basis of quota for this and that class and caste we are compromising on quality. That apart, the tragedy in Uttarakhand has been unnerving for the entire country. Will we learn our lessons? I doubt.

E-filing of Income Tax return a time consuming process

I fully agree that e-filing of Income Tax Return is a very difficult and time consuming process. It is obvious that senior officers of the Department have themselves not tried it otherwise so many checks at various levels would not have been there. In my view let the Department give option to the Tax Payers as to whether they really want all those processes for secrecy of data which makes the process so tedious? Given a choice I will be the first to opt for simplification even at the cost of possibility of data getting public. Why can't it be simple like sending an e mail?

Junior officer made caretaker CRB

Railway Board Chairman: all the records break on in the appointment of CRB junior most member is given the caretaker CRB? Are all top and senior staff under the enquiry of vigilance. And further more on one side it is reported that Kul Bushan was overlooked because of charge sheet by CBI and on the other hand he is given additional charge as Member Traffic. Is all well at the Rail Ministry and Railway Board or is there still some mole? What is the PMO office doing and what is CBI doing?

Minister for Health & family welfare
It is irony of fate that cancer detection diagnostic tests cannot be taken in Cancer empanelled hospitals of CGHS by CGHS beneficiaries . As these hospitals are having proper diagnostic facilities which are essential for early detection so treatment can start early. Govt. always propagate for early detection in order to control the disease at early stage but without detection how it is possible? Govt. should permit CGHS beneficiaries to go the empanelled hospitals directly for cancer related detection tests without being recommended by CMO/Govt. hospitals. As these empanelled hospitals are also responsible for tests and treatment. Minister of Health and family Welfare may issue instruction in this regard.

New Home Secretary to play good role
Very important place no doubt we have always good people as Secretary Home; we pray that he can deal all with the help of his experience, and one request now election is coming Home affairs and Election commission can see that all political should not speak personal and religious comments and ban on dirty comments on TV or print as now generation would not like to listen and most of the people will re-act on their dirty remark which is not good for Society.

Ghaus Mohd

Repetitive comments only create ill will
For the last few months we have been reading the tirade of R K Singh against the upper castes, spitting bitterness and supporting his views with often wrong facts. The comments are repetitive and only create ill will. Posting the same views almost every day is not going to help any group.

Swarup

Common between Muslims and Obcs
What is common between the Muslims who ruled for a thousand years in India, the OBCs who are the major perpetrators of sufferings on SCs; and Dalits? Nothing. Only politics of the vote bank; all political parties seek these vote banks. What are pray, the imagined "sufferings" of the Muslims in India for a thousand years? If the rulers were "suffering", what about the rest! What are the sufferings of the "OBC"? The OBC is a political construct. The OBCs are powerful, dominant castes like the Yadavs and Kurmis. Lord Krishna was born among Yadavs and Yadav Kings have ruled India since the times of the Mahabharata e.g. Kans, Shishupal, Maharaja Sri Krishna, Balram, Nand etc. Were they "suffering"? If so, at the hands of whom? It is the vote bank politics which makes all parties think of such groupings.

Unless they change, system will not change
At the end of the day, it is political class who take the call on transparency in transfer/posting. Unless they change, system will not change. Bureaucrats can fight them to an extent only.
