Kafka Raja Bhoj, Me Gangoo Teli

Browning's brilliant attempt at satire good, excepting that it has equated Gangoo Teli (i.e. MLGupta) with the Raja Bhoj of fiction (i.e.Kafka) by misplaced association. For the scholars of Existentialism and Absurdism (like Browning), it might be of interest to note that ordinary people like me are closer to Kalidas than Kafka. The consequences of the devastating WW-II and the shock of the use of the atomic bombs might have given Europe its shining literary lights like Kafka, Camus, Joyce, Beckett, Sartre and several other luminaries but the Indian thought legacy had discussed in detail all issues about the meaning of existence much earlier. We have the conclusion in the form of 'Jagat Mithya, Brahma Satyam', which had long ago travelled to Europe during the period of Indian colonization and reinforced by the Non-violent movement led by Mahatma Gandhi in India, which influenced writers in Europe as well as America. Gangoo Teli that I am, I have so far traversed the distance only up to this: 'Jagat Satyam, Brahma Satyam'. That makes the difference between the Whartonites like Browning and ordinary people like me, whose job is to extract edible oil out of the edible oil-bearing seeds of current affairs!
