Appointment of Secretary in GoI

Now it's time for reservation even for Secretary level appointments! What a country where caste, creed and religion supersedes merit. So much disadvantaged these special people are that every level they took advantage of this fact and still they feel they are downtrodden and need special consideration at Secretary level posts. It's high time to bring in once in life time advantage for such special people and thereafter they will be at par with their other colleagues. The choice should be left to them whether they want advantage at the time of education or at the time of appointment.

Two 1979 batch officers to be given insignificant Ministries

"Der Aaye- Durust Aaye" but I am sure that the two 1979 batch IAS officers would be given some insignificant ministries. Just to improve data/records.

Minimum 36-37 years experience required for Secretary

The bemoaning on no Dalit officer being secretary in Government of India is misplaced because no one can make to that post, whether Dalit or non-Dalit, unless he or she has a minimum of 36 -37 yrs of service in IAS which means one must make entry at an age of 23-24 yrs of age. 1979 batch has just started becoming secretary rather than crying foul of the so called discrimination our friends should check up at what age do the Dalit friends join the IAS-generally not before 30 years, that too on the logic that in order to have social justice their entry to service should be allowed upto a maximum age limit of 35 years now you cannot have best of all he worlds unless you add another golden rule to our golden system of social justice stipulating that a Dalit officer must be made Secretary to Government of India even if he or she has a service of 25 years only while the general category should continue to have 34-35 years of minimum service. We believe in our wonderful country with wonderful social justice system that day is not too far off.

Secretary in GoI: root cause is invisible lobbying

Dear Dr K C Rathore, you are very true that merit only counts and should count for reaching the top position in Civil Services. Since there have been several parliament questions every year and numerous demands by civil servants of a particular community, it is not just a matter of merit but a matter of the mindset of some who decide partial merit, which ultimately promotes general castes and stops Dalits from reaching the top. There is nothing wrong in the GoI promotion policy but with the persons who decide the so-called merit. The root cause is invisible lobbying and preferential treatment.

Different yardsticks for different services

I fully agree with Shailjaji and Mr A Bhattacharya. The IRS is the only service where you never feel like an officer but always feel like a clerk for you never get any facilities whatsoever while a Naib Tahseeldar roams about in Government vehicles and gets a bungalow type of house, almost all central services like railways, postal , defence, defence estate and treat their senior officers well with at least a good house, its only the IRS both income tax and customs which is never thought deserving for any facility whatsoever. Imagine all the director level officers of postal dept whose expenditure is more than income have purchased 38000 Rs cell phones whereas the IRS gets just 750 Rs as mobile allowance and they get the smallest houses in the whole bureaucracy.

Upheavel in BSF

There is a lot of upheaval in BSF these days about the new changeover policy being implemented. The policy will decimate the identity of the unit and instead men will be transferred individually.
