Why can't we get out of caste mentality ?
What do those people want who are talking about 'only so few Dalit Secretaries or Additional Secretaries' in the Government of India. Reservation at that level ? Once the reservation in recruitment is there the officers come up to higher positions on their own merit. This includes Dalit officers also. I am sure no one is going to ignore them for promotion on the basis of caste. Why can't we get out of this caste mentality in this age of globalisation and modernisation? While any willful act of discrimination has to be resisted and equal opportunity given to all those who entered service in the General or Reserved category asking for quota at higher echelons of services is being unfair even for Dalit officers who have shown sufficient merit
and will reach the top in the normal course.
