Public Sector banks gets higher rise of 48% in Gross NPA
Public Sector banks have witnessed a higher rise of 48% in Gross Non-Performing Asset (NPA) levels as compared to a rise of just 10% for private banks. Gross NPA as a percentage of advances stood at 3.92% (March 2012: 3.02%) for PSU banks as compared to 1.97% (March 2012: 2.00%) for private banks.

Jayanto Narayan Choudhury, DGP, Assam is all set to be Special Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB), New Delhi. DoPT has forwarded his candidature to ACC for the approval. He is a 1978 batch IPS officer of Assam cadre.

Empanelment meeting for 1983 batch IAS postponed
Scheduled meeting for empanelment of 1983 batch IAS officers to the rank of Additional Secretary in the Government of India did not take place on March 5.

Only six IAS officers of 1979 batch get Secretary level postings
Only six 1979 batch empanelled IAS officers have so far got posting to the rank of Secretary in the Government of India. They are: Shyamal Sarkar, Rajiv Gupta, Zohra Chatterjee, R Ramanujam, Rajiv Takru and Ravi Mathur.

792 Army officers take premature retirement
As many as 792 Army officers have taken premature retirement between 2010 and 2012 in India. A total of 256 Army officers took retirement in 2010 while 288 in 2011 and 239 in 2012.

Who would carry out as Member (Admin), NHAI after JN Singh repatriates?

With the approaching time of repatriation of Jagdip Narayan Singh the speculation has been doing rounds in the corridors of power as who would be taking care as Member (Administration) NHAI. Singh is presently Member (Finance) NHAI, with additional charge of Member (Administration). Singh, a 1983 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, is scheduled to repatriate in April.


Chandra to succeed Singh !

J N Singh, Member (Finance) NHAI, would be succeeded by Satish Chandra by March 31. He is a 1985 batch IAS officer of Punjab cadre.

Singh to join GoI ?
Harish Chandra Singh, ADG, PTC, Sitapur UP Police is likely to join central deputation as Chief Vigilance Officer, CVO. He is a 1984 batch IPS officer of UP cadre. DoPT has sent his candidature to the competent authority for the approval.

Who will win as India's next envoy to Beijing?
The six months overstay of S Jaishankar as India's envoy to Beijing; the whispers in the diplomatic corridors have raised the curiositybars as who would win as it as India's next envoy to Beijing. Jaishankar, a 1977 batch IFS officer, has already completed the three years tenure in August 2012.

Dr B C Gupta has joined as Member of the Consumer Forum in Delhi. He is a retired 1975 batch IAS officer of Punjab cadre.

The conference will be inaugurated by Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne on March 8, 2013 while Air Marshal J Chandra Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Maintenance Command chairs the conference thereafter.

CBDT transfer initiative in March

It is a welcome step taken by the CBDT New Delhi regarding Annual General Transfer order be passed by the end of March or First week of April. Therefore officers will be getting enough time to relocate their families and apply for admission of their children in schools. Generally new session of schools start in month of April. Through this officers will also get sufficient time to settle and ready for next assignment.
