It is only another scam
The recent Railway Bribery Case is another scam only. Railways has taken the people of this country for a sweet ride. The quality of food is so bad that one would suffer from gastro-intestinal disorders the following day. Similarly, there are so many scams unearthed from time to time by their own vigilance officials. It is high time the Government allowed FDI in Railways in order to cater to the needs of the growing population and ensuring quality service. Again, there might be so many frauds going on which still remain to be exposed.

Meaningful food security programme required
Any meaningful food security programme should aim at gradually reducing the number of hungry dependent on government support. I remember the age-old Chinese adage: If you want to feed a man for a day give him a fish, but if you want to feed him for lifetime, teach him how to catch fish. For a country which has the largest population of hungry and malnourished in the world, We expect a sensible piece of legislation which looks beyond immediate political gains to build up a society that does not have to depend upon food doles so as to emerge free from the clutches of hunger in the long run. Out of 6.8 lakh villages in India, over 85% of them grow something or the other crop. Why can't a food security system be launched that takes care of the hungry in the same village that produce surplus food? It is not difficult to redesign a national programme that makes India's villages self-reliant in food security. Food security cannot be ensured without suitably modifying economic policies in agriculture rural development, science and technology and international trade, I find no efforts being made in this direction. I don't think at any stage this Government was honest in its approach. It had simply worked and reworked the food security bill keeping the 2014 elections in mind.

All political parties following appeasement policy
It is not only Nitish Kumar who is following appeasement policy. All political parties are appeasing one religion/ community/caste or the other. In fact appeasement policy is the only policy they have. It is their compulsion also because they do not have any vision and policy for giving good governance. But Bihar CM's open hatred for one person, who may not the hero of many, is nothing short of madness. Whether BJP declares that person as a prime ministerial candidate or not is different. But if it considers itself a political party, it should not give in to his blackmail. At the earliest he should be clearly told to stop. Not doing so will exhibit its spinelessness of the "party with a difference" of One mistake which the party committed was dumping of an able administrator and leader with roots Kalyan Singh due to the insistence of its liberal leader, who after becoming prime minister said that he will go to Lucknow for thanks giving to his voters only after Kalyan Singh was removed as CM of Uttar Pradesh. How much it has cost the party in the State it should know better. BJP is dominated by leaders who do not have following of their own. Otherwise, for example why CM of big State like MP should not be a part of its top forum.

Dedicated writers
I have noticed that there are a few dedicated writers on "caste" on this channel. Good that there are different views and debate on this issue.

Deplorable tendency
There is a deplorable tendency of pretending that corruption cases are slapped against the SCs and STs and alleging bias in treatment of those accused of corruption. The truth is that there is no discrimination in catching the corrupt. Those accused of corruption (and only the Courts can decide whether they are guilty actually so we must remember that they are innocent until proved otherwise in a Court of law) e.g. Sukhram, Mayawati, Mulayam, Lalu, Jayalalitha, Raja or Bansal all belong to different castes. None should hide behind the fig leaf of caste when accused of corruption. Our agencies and judiciary are fair and free from bias and none should stoke cynicism in this regard.

It was a temporary measure for 10 years
Apologists for reservations for SCs and STs conveniently forget that it was a temporary measure for 10 years. They also forget that at least since the Constitution has come into force, everybody is equal and there are no restrictions on anybody in respect of anything. At least since 1950, untouchability has been abolished and is actually a crime. The Constitution guarantees equality to all irrespective of caste. So, ever since we have become masters of our own destinies at least, caste based discrimination is outlawed and the law offers equal protection to all castes. Now, then, in an equal environment, why should reverse discrimination be practiced for ever? It has already been 66 years of reservations in jobs, politics and education for SCs and STs. Most importantly, what has been suggested is not removal of reservations for SCs and STs but merely denial of the extraordinary benefit of reservations for the third generation of SCs and STs who are rich, powerful and able to compete in the general category; only to enable the most downtrodden of the SCs and STs to avail of the great benefit of reservations rather than allow the same family to hog all the benefits meant for the truly downtrodden for generations. This vibhishana elite of the SCs and STs is denying the benefits from percolating to the most needy amongst the SCs and STs.
