Why should head of the Indian government bow ?
India should not attend the forthcoming Commonwealth summit at Colombo,
Sri Lanka, because it is beneath India's dignity to pay homage to Britain
as its erstwhile ruler, as that is what such summits really are about.
The Indian PM will have to bow before Prince Charles as he will represent
the head of the Common Wealth. This, at a time when India has a healthy
6% annual growth rate whereas Britain has less than zero growth rate.
Britain's debt is greater than that of Greece or Portuguese. So why
should the head of the Indian government bow before the head of a former
and still arrogant but completely bankrupt colonial power? The second
reason why India should not attend is because of the ill treatment of
the Tamil minority population by the majority Sinhala government of
Sri Lanka. There have been frequent massacres of Tamils in the last
33 years of the Lankan civil war. The last massacre was the most brutal
and savage and it was a cold blooded carnage of nearly 50,000 Tamils
by the Sri Lankan army. Given India's poor track record of interfering
in Sri Lanka's internal affairs, I think the Indian government should
administer snubs to both Sri Lanka and Britain by not attending this
summit.

GoI least bothered about welfare of its employees
The GoI is restructuring the CSS and CSSS is a good news for the common
categories. But it is very much painful to note that the GoI is not
at all considering about the welfare of its employees working outside
the Central Secretariat. They are being given step-motherly treatment
whereas they are also govern by the rules and regulations framed by
the DoPT. Is there anyone in the DoPT to address these issues?

Career Enhancement Opportunities
DoPT, the nodal Ministry to look after the Career progression of CAPFs
Officers is failing miserably. Officers, those have completed 20 years
of service in Officer Cadre still have not been granted PB-4 Scale in
BSF. Officers are performing challenging jobs - but in the eyes of GoI,
they need to do something more to 'fulfill functional requirement'.
The irony of disparity: - Army & IPS Officers discharging similar
functional requirement as of BSF/CRPF Officers, are getting/bestowed
with all financial benefits - like PB-4, NFU etc, but, BSF/CRPF officers
are denied on the pretext of two funny words 'Organized Cadre'. Who
will decide the 'Organized Cadre' - The Government or The Courts? The
High Court has already in one of the landmark judgment- categorically
mentioned - there shall be no denial of financial benefits merely on
the grounds of 'Organized Cadre'. I pray to DoPT, to grant NFU to BSF/CRPF
cadre officers without going into the jugglery of words.
Awasthi.
BSF undergoing dilution at the hands of IPS
Once considered the largest Para-military force in the world, the reputed
BSF is now undergoing dilution at the hands of IPS. All the top &
important places are filled up by these officers, they are never posted
to the sensitive & disturbed areas. This attitude of top boss is
very disheartening for the other officers. There is no patting for the
hard-working & sincere officers. Similarly, even the 'Gallantry
Medals' are also manipulated. Deserving officers rarely get this medal.
Only the 'bhakti' & 'chaplusi' make this gallantry award possible.
Only you & such forums can help us to fight this battle of injustice.

CAPFs : Divided Leadership
The Central Armed Police Force of GoI, is invariably led by IPS officers,
those, are not having experience or knack to lead the Force. They come
to the organization with Police bent of mind, and they remain mainly
focused to secure their career, Though, they are suppose to project
the real issues of the Force, but, their indifferent attitude has almost
brought the forces on the brink of collapse. The smothering discontent
within the Rank and files, sooner or later will result into a major
challenge for the GoI. None of the genuine grievances of the force personnel
are projected in correct spirit before the Govt. of India. DOPT, always,
try to deny the legitimate rights of the CAPFs personnel. Perhaps, DOPT,
despite knowing the facts, turning a blind eye, only to respond once
it is too late. Awake, Awake the GoI and consider the grievances of
CAPFs personnel and honour their legitimate rights. Don't wait for the
Court to pronounce the judgment.
Puroshtam Das (Retired BSF Officer)
BSF's future ?
The condition of Central Government Department-BSF which was once considered
the Pare-military Force is now considered CPO-Thanks to the IPS akkas.
Poor fellows could not do anything for the police force are determined
to destroy the paramilitary forces. As there is a well known saying
-"hum to dubenge par tumko puri tarah dubo denge". Now the
postings & transfers are done by these IPS in the BSF without consulting
the BSF officials. This time Subash Joshi-DG BSF did the most daring
act -he posted around 11 'Garhwali' officers to Delhi out of 16-17.He
rejected the postings of the officers who really deserved. One senior
officer who has completed his 6 years tenure was not posted out of Delhi
because he has links in MHA & is required for 'functional reasons'.
Where is justice & humanity. Kindly help me to raise this issue.

Ultimate honour to Pran has already been bestowed by people
The Dada Saheb Phalke award to Pran may bring a big deal to Government,
but the ultimate honour has already been bestowed by the people: There
is no child born after 1950 who carries the name "Pran". The
ultimate villian. The line from Sholay regarding mothers using name
of Gabbar Singh to put their children to sleep was actually used by
mothers in 1950s and 1960s by invoking the name Pran.
