In this country there are three caste
In this country there are three caste 1. ultra rich and rich, 2.middle
class and poor, and lastly 3. below poverty line-who gets nothing, knows
nothing and doesn't know what to do-they and they alone should get reservation.
But the so called pioneers of reservation who belong to first two categories
will never let it happen and validly so as to why sacrifice when reaping
the benefits.
Rajesh Kumar
Irresponsible statement!
I would not have liked at all to write on reservations any more. But
a comment that I saw today that but for reservations, there would have
been civil war in this country has prompted me. What an irresponsible
statement! This compares with the threat Pakistan gives to India that
it will use nuclear weapon if there is war with India. Majority of the
writers on this site have not argued for doing away with reservation
for SC/STs completely. What has been suggested is that the benefit should
be limited to one generation so that other poor in that category can
benefit. There is still need for reservation even after more than 6
decades due to wrong implementation of the policy under which the benefit
is being cornered mostly by the same families. This modification is
fair enough and is in the interest of SCs and STs themselves. Instead
of understanding and appreciating this, educated people are raising
very strange issues and mixing so issues just to confuse the things.
I did not rise very high. I also came to Delhi from a remote village
in a remote State. My father was upper caste, but could not afford to
send me to College. I did not
then know what was full form of UPSC. I thought it was something related
to Uttar Pradesh. But still I passed an examination conducted by UPSC
in first attempt. There are thousands of cases like this. But nobody
thinks and talks about them. If one expresses that the reservation policy
or the policy followed at present is not correct, he is thought as anti
dalit. That is not the case. Are there not poor in the classes which
are called upper and are looked down upon. Think of the sentiments of
a general
category boy who even after getting 75% marks in 12th class does not
get admission in College in Delhi whereas his classmate getting less
than 50% makes it to the College. He is denied even education, not to
speak of job. Forget this, we are largest democracy in the world where
a person who through his merit becomes President, but still called a
Dalit. Home Minister is not Home Minister but a dalit. A person becomes
PM but still OBC. God save us.
Bishan Sharma
Unfettered Reservation for ages
Ms Shailja is lamenting about those who had enjoyed unfettered Reservation
for ages ! But let's correct this wrong. Many from reserved categories
also support Reservation for ALL castes in proportion to their population.
But the Brahmins never wanted this. But still it can be done then their
problems will be solved.
