Brains behind Modi's Mega success
Narendra Modi who has steered BJP to an unprecedented victory is no
less than a mystery. He has made history by delivering a crushing defeat
to the ruling Indian National Congress party, which has controlled Indian
politics for most of the past 60 years. Winning more than 272 parliamentary
seats, the B.J.P. received the strongest mandate of any party in 30
years.
Few would be aware that as a chief architect of his electrifying mega
campaign, Modi had deployed the best brains of the domain apart from
stalwarts like Amit Shah and alike. Here we have a glance over the top
12 brains behind Modi's success.
1. K Kailashnathan:
The senior former IAS officer formed the backbone of Modi's support
system supervising the teams and task masters across fields. Kailashnathan,
popularly known as K K, is presently serving Modi in the capacity of
Chief Principal Secretary to Gujarat CM. Throughout the elections campaign
K K not only managed the public & policy related affairs for Modi
but served as single-window-solution supervising host of tasks and facilitating
a spectrum of teams and campaigns.
2. Jagdish Thakkar:
A former officer of Gujarat Information Service is PRO to Gujarat Chief
Minister Narendra Modi. He has been following Modi as his shadow for
over 15 years; even after his retirement. Modi relied upon him as his
nodal person for coordination who could be seen accompanying Modi all
the time. He kept Modi briefed of each and every development much in
advance.
3. Prashant Kishore:
A young professional, having experience of working with UN, within three
years of association with Narendra Modi earned his unfathomable trust
and rose to one of the chief architects of Modi's mega campaigns. Prashant's
initiative 'Citizens for Accountable Governance' played crucial role
in roping-in hundreds of young pro-Modi professionals across IT &
management sectors. He proved his mettle as strategic-planner in communication
& marketing for Modi's mega campaign. In addition, Modi depended
heavily on him for study & analysis of winability of seats and candidates
while finalising tickets. He also handled popular campaign "Chai
pe charcha".
4. Rajesh Jain:
Rajesh Jain, a man behind 'India Infoline', puts up in Mumbai. Insiders
claim for him as one of the best strategic brains behind Modi. As a
key news maker Jain closely observed Modi's media campaign and advised
on the right mix of approach to project/present Modi in the mass media.
5. Hiren Joshi:
The former RSS man worked effortlessly on Mission-Modi as Officer on
Special Duty at Chief Minister's Office handled the campaign called
"India-272". As Modi's digital-media-strategist he successfully
led a jumbo team of over 2,000 volunteers in managing the portals of
Modi and his social media campaigns.
6. Manish Baradia:
Baradia, a documentary maker, keeps in Ahmedabad. Primarily he is a
creative professional having core competence in audio-visual production.
He ensured the effective and powerful representation of Modi in his
campaign. Insiders say that it was Baradia who finally approved each
audio-visual PR campaign & commercials as a production controller
of ad creatives.
7. Devang Nanavati:
The Ahmedabad based advocate has been working closely with Narendra
Modi advising him on legal issues since years. Throughout the campaign
he kept a sharp vigil on intricacies of mass campaign in anticipation
and legal complexities. Nanavati counts much among Modi's team of strategists.
A practising lawyer in the Gujarat High Court and a partner in a leading
law firm in the city, Nanavati is reputed for his excellence in academics
- he has won nearly 15 gold medals for the same and his interest in
human rights and related laws.
8. Piyush Goyal:
Piyush Goyal, a Mumbai based BJP worker and Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra,
advised & coordinated on media strategy primarily on policy issues.
Modi kept him is closely associated for consultations on array of issues
crucially important to fight a big battle. Goyal, who has had a brilliant
academic record - all-India second rank holder Chartered Accountant
and second rank holder in Law in Mumbai University, is a well-known
investment banker, having advised top corporates on management strategy
and growth; also served on the Board of India's largest commercial bank,
the State Bank of India and Bank of Baroda.
9. Manoj Ladwa:-

the effective management of mainstream campaign which included print,
TV, radio ads while stationed at BJP's Delhi based office. Manoj Ladwa

Modi" effectively.

campaign on IT front; especially the social media platforms. Gupta headed
the Bharatiya Janata Party's IT division and successfully ensured the
convergence of campaigns which were being strategized, designed and
crafted at different locations including Gujarat & Delhi. Insiders
say that Gupta's contributions have been recognised by the BJP stalwarts
more than what it appears as he thought globally and acted locally while
executing the task.
12. Vipul Mitra
Vipul Mitra is another name who has done wonders in enhancing the image
of Gujarat aka Narendra Modi. His contribution specially in the field
of tourism is parallel to none. Mitra who joined IAS in the year 1986

Now officers from other services should also get chance
The Elections are over and the new Government is about to be formed.
Needless to say, that in order to ensure a paradigm shift from the Congress
Culture, there needs to be a completely new way to look at the way bureaucrats
are selected for central deputation. Under the existing congress culture,
it way customary for the minister in charge to have the final say in
selecting the Babu for his ministry. Consequently, he would select his
Man Friday et al from his own State and ensure that the latter acted
as his middleman for all the shady deals! This was happening for all
important posts from P.S. to Secretary levels. This must stop. The Babus
selected on the basis of merit, should be pooled together and posted
at random in the ministries, the only caveat being their special qualification
for specialized jobs such as the finance etc. This would also ensure
objectivity in selections and postings.
Presently, the central postings are IAS centric. This must stop and
officers from other services should also be tried proportionately. With
reduced ministerial interventions, this should not be difficult.
The PM should seriously consider reviewing the various post retirement
EGS postings for the Babus. A bulk of them are cronies of the past dispensation.
A pool of retired professionals / administrators should be prepared
for essential post retirement duties.
It would be worthwhile to have a specialist group to review the existing
policies specially with reference to the contradictions embedded in
the same. I have examined some relating to natural resources and the
results are disturbing!
Ministry of Environment and Forests is crucial to a country like India,
which is burdened with 17% of global human and live stock populations.
Our forest resources have been put under extreme pressure by the actions
of NAC led by Sonia. India which is fast turning into a water scarce
country, continues to lead in terms of virtual water export! Our catchments
are woefully devoid of forest cover. Our forest policy is defunct. The
CEC has become an extra constitutional body within MOEF.
Hope these words from a retired Forester will ring a bell in the
right quarters,
Ashok Sharma, I F S ( Retd )
Expectations from new government
It is highly expected from the new government that honesty, transparency
and punctuality should be prevailed upon corruption, nepotism etc. Congratulations,
Mr. Modi. We are supporting your leadership only because of your straight-forwardness
and honesty. Please carry on and streamline the bureaucracy at the earliest.
In many Ministries, lots of corruption is going on, please stop it at
the earliest. Also take a bold decision on the Reservation issue.
VKM
Why the UPA-II failed ?
All Analysis of why the UPA-II failed have not put their finger on real
issue.
1. Complete lack of leadership in terms of standing by their decisions
and protecting the honest officers who had delivered good outcomes.
2. Their own decisions with any one raising a finger they went into
jittery by ordering an enquiry, knowing fully well no wrong has been
done. This is worst HR policy any leader can even think of and UPAII
continued to do the same.
3. Another failure has been that their own wrong methodology once pointed
out refused to introspect. The anger of government servants and bureaucracy
failed to fathom.
4. Same anger transferred to general public who was wondering the justification
of decisions taken and more important decisions not taken.

elay in transfer of ration card
The ration card of the appellant was transferred since 15-11-2012
to a fair price shop 30 Kms away from his house from where he
was not able to draw the rations since then and purchasing the
same in the open market by paying Rs. 800/- extra every month
and thus suffering financial loss. He filed five applications
under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking details of various
ration card holders, details of fair price shops, details of the
cards which are transferred, details of the employees who will
handle complaints, guidelines for transfer of ration cards from
one area to another area etc.. The respondent submitted that no
human error was involved and the transfer occurred due to the
computer system fault. The respondent felt that the appellant's
card also should have been set right before the enactment of National
Food Security Act but the appellant would now have to wait till
July, 2014 as the respondent office is neither issuing the new
cards nor renewing the old cards till then. The CIC observed that
this will amount to denial of ration card and ration to deserving
appellant, which go against the objective of food security. Directing
the respondent to provide the information, the Commission issued
a show cause notice to the PIO for imposing penalty and granted
a compensation of Rs. 250/ per month till the date of restoration
of ration card to the appellant.
