Abolish 'Jayanthi Tax'

Naremdrabhai Modi had raked the conscience of nation when he mentioned about Jayanthi Tax. Now the time has come not only to abolish this but also order a CBI enquiry on the functioning of this Ministry as it is being run by extortion mafia.

Bold decisions required

Very well said. New Government should take some bold decisions to streamline the bureaucracy. It should reduce the strength of personal staff of each and every minister to a minimum. People are sitting in the offices of Ministers for a long time and some of them even don't know about their original work.

Review decisions

I agree with AK Sharma .All decision taken by UPA after Model Code of Conduct was enforced should be reviewed.

A new wind blows in country

We celebrate the return of democracy after a decade of aberration when we lived under a regime where we had a prime minister not elected by the people but nominated by the party president. We had a regime which destroyed so many of our well-established institutions. Under which favouritism and nepotism flourished. Bureaucracy became termite-infested wood rather than a steel frame. We have hope now that corrective measures will be taken to bring back some ethics and morality in the functioning of civil services. India is vibrating with hope and optimism. One man has changed the mood of the country. You are a real leader Mr. Modi.

Aarti Khosla

Senior babus trying to trample juniors and other cadres!

What is the meaning of increasing retirement age to JS and above! and that too in this day and age! Look at the temerity of the newsmongers! and think all other workers of central government are fools! and indeed the top leaders of this country are fools! All those in the higher echelons already have chronic diseases of one kind or the other.

Cabinet will consist of leaders born after independence

There is media speculation that that the cabinet will consist of leaders born after independence. The media is attributing the same to the older lot not fitting in with youthful aspirations. But the media is forgetting that the new Chief Minister of Gujarat is 72. Is that not evidence that all the speculation is incorrect ?

elay in transfer of ration card

The ration card of the appellant was transferred since 15-11-2012 to a fair price shop 30 Kms away from his house from where he was not able to draw the rations since then and purchasing the same in the open market by paying Rs. 800/- extra every month and thus suffering financial loss. He filed five applications under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking details of various ration card holders, details of fair price shops, details of the cards which are transferred, details of the employees who will handle complaints, guidelines for transfer of ration cards from one area to another area etc.. The respondent submitted that no human error was involved and the transfer occurred due to the computer system fault. The respondent felt that the appellant's card also should have been set right before the enactment of National Food Security Act but the appellant would now have to wait till July, 2014 as the respondent office is neither issuing the new cards nor renewing the old cards till then. The CIC observed that this will amount to denial of ration card and ration to deserving appellant, which go against the objective of food security. Directing the respondent to provide the information, the Commission issued a show cause notice to the PIO for imposing penalty and granted a compensation of Rs. 250/ per month till the date of restoration of ration card to the appellant.

Comments

This is an instance where the RTI Act has been used for getting a grievance redressed.
