CGHS mess by Government of the day

It is very clear that the government of the day wants to destroy even the present lop-sided CGHS facility. Dr Harsh Vardhan has no idea of the problem faced by central government employees nor he wants to know or interact with the beneficiaries. It is better to have a non-medical Health Minister, who at least put up his mind, interact with DGHS officers before taking some major policy decision for the CGHS beneficiaries. BJP will definitely feel the music during the Delhi state elections from CGHS employees both from serving and pensioners. By the way he should send some of them to Scotland and see how the government takes care of all citizens. At least it will open his narrow and closed mind set.

Biometric system in Income Tax department

IT Department is one of the living examples of officers and staff coming late to office every day. If you go to any of the Aaykar Bhawans in India you can see officers and staff coming late by 1 to 3 hours and going back home after 4 PM. Any officer who tries to enforce discipline is subjected to Dharna etc by Union members. This troubles the tax payers. Further it is a sheer waste of taxpayers' money if the employees take full day pay but work for half a day. I hope the revenue secretary and finance minister lake action and make biometric attendance mandatory otherwise I will file a complaint with Hon. Prime minister of India.

Information related to the vehicle which caused an accident

The son of the appellant suffered a serious road accident and became handicapped. The appellant sought information regarding registration details of a vehicle No.DL8C9080 which was involved in the road accident to help him to claiming compensation and other actions against the owner of the vehicle. The Central Information Commission (CIC) observed that such cases have to be treated as extraordinarily urgent and as the victim is alive, he needs to fight for survival and recover from the injuries. The CIC ruled that the information sought by the appellant is very vital and pertains to life and liberty of the victim, therefore, the answer has to be provided within 48 hours. The CIC issued show cause notice to PIO why penalty should not be imposed for not providing the information within the prescribed time period.

Comments

Many public authorities are unaware of the provision whereby an applicant can seek information under the "life and liberty" clause and the same has to be provided within 48 hours. A large number of organisations are ill equipped to deal such an application. This case law provides an idea of what may be covered under the definition of "life and liberty".
