Has Prasar Bharti Board failed in its objectives? Is it a white elephant? Financial rise in the near future

The country is going to face huge financial crisis in near future. Markets have already lost Rs.7, 00,000/ crore the other day. The Government is faced with OROP and 7th Pay Commission near future. Prices of commodities are skyrocketing. There are chances that Pakistan may bleed us more and this time it could be a major one. In such a situation the 'spoilt brat' bureaucrats and politicians have to show utmost restraint. They should shed their spend thrift habit of government money, Be it be on tours, perks & facilities, expenditure on renewal of their offices-which may have been renewed in recent past, purchase of new staff car, high priced electronic gadgets etc. Finance Ministry needs to issue strict instructions for control and clearly indicate that there will be no enhancement in the revised estimates budget.

Congratulations CBDT!!

It gave me great pleasure to read that Income tax refund and another case in 15 days and in another case within a month after filing ITRs. Many cases should be processed in a month's time then it looks we are entering in Digital Age. Keep it up CBDT.

Shortlist of candidates for CMD, SAIL

Like NTPC, PMO appoint Search committee. Many talented, honest sincere and qualified applications have not forwarded. Persons having forged age affidavits, qualifications, kith and kin of politicians and babus, lobbys, money bags, regionalism and casteism are the criteria for short listing. Will PM look into this?

Shashank

Anonymous complaints no solace

I would like to disagree that anonymous complaints are the only solution for ending corruption and fraud. In fact the anonymous complaints are mostly made by disgruntled subordinates to demoralize and harass their seniors.

A Civil Servant

Use retired officers in committees

I entirely agree that the services of retired officers with proven competence and integrity should be utilized in consultative committees, Corporations, Commissions, Tribunals and work studies and reforms etc. They have rich experience and deep knowledge. There is no age and health bar for politicians, members of the higher judiciary also generally utilized then why this unfair treatment to top level civil servants.

SC Agrawal DGP (Retd.)

Post retirement

Workshops to teach how to lead post-retirement life. I full agree with Ratnaparkhi. I retired after completing 40 yrs service and same health problems came in my way. My previous boss came to my rescue and settled me.

R K Bansal

No leave for 158 trainee IAS officers

I agree with Saxena's views WIC (Aug 25).I suspect the 90 days attachment of IAS officers will involve saffronisation.

Bharti

No leave for 158 trainee IAS officers

Views in WIC (Aug 25) for three months attachment of IAS officers with Centre, are appreciated. The motive is to get a bureaucracy committed to BJP agenda.

V K Tyagi

No leave for 158 trainee IAS officers

A K Saxena is correct in his assessment. All government hostels, guest houses in Delhi have been reserved for IAS trainees. So no marriage and private functions during September, October and November 2015.

IAS, IFOS service

What about the IAS and IFoS Officers ?

Vikas Dhar

On job training

A K Singh (WIC Aug 26) it seems has no experience of working in State administration. Are IAS officers in the States cadres incompetent to provide on-the-job training to new batches of officers? There is nothing specific to learn from Centre. Best practices are replicated at the Centre.

Fateh Bahadur Singh IAS (Retd.)

No political pressures

A K Singh in his post underestimates is being naive in under-estimating the functioning of States Administrations. The challenges are far fiercer. The job at the Centre is cozy with not much political pressures.

Veena Kashyap PCS, UP (Retd.)

Courageous act

The resignation of J&K chief secretary, Iqbal Khandey over differences with the government, is highly commendable step of courage of conviction and the will to resist the fruits of servility, sycophancy as after retirement sinecures. The welcome step may also encourage other fence sitters to prefer self respect and dignity more than immediate mundane self denigrating rewards .True gentlemen exist in services, this feeling would also be a morale booster for public.

Mehar Singh Bajwa, Hoshiarpur

Committed crusader

Vijay Shankar Pandey is a real committed crusadar against corruption who identified & coined Ati Mahabharat in IAS, in 1989-90. India needs brilliant, honest & dedicated IAS officers like Vijay Shankar, who justifies his name as victorious annihilator of corruption.

DATE WITH RTI

Repeated RTI application and appeal on the same issue

The appellant sought for action taken report on the letter dated 30.4.2013 & 1.5.2013, whether HOD enquired about Sunil Kumar, how long he remained in jail, what information has been sought by Tibbia College from central jail no. 6 about Sunil Kumar etc. Having received no reply, the appellant filed first appeal. In the first appeal, the authority mentioned in his order that applicant was a regular compulsive applicant and has submitted more than 150 RTI applications, leading to wastage of government time and efforts. Before the CIC, the PIO submitted that the appellant has so far filed more than 200 RTI applications against Mr. Sunil Kumar. The appellant had also approached the CIC 05 times and CIC had declared him as abuser of RTI. The CIC rejected the appeal as being repetitive.

Comments

Many Public Information Officers come across a situation where a disgruntled employee or a compulsive RTI applicant files application over and over again on a similar issue. This order provides a panacea for such cases.
