SJ Haider

Adept, alert and innovative, SJ Haider, needs no introduction. Deft in handling his department, this 1991 batch IAS officer renders everyone speechless, with his amazingly ground breaking schemes and his power- packed presentations.
The 18th e-governance conference - he had organized at Gandhinagar was so impressive, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, tweeted on it instantly. In fact Gujarat tops the charts with over 11 crore e-transactions, the first in the country in so far as use of technology for registration of births and deaths, land, and other such activities are concerned.
For Haider, who is presently Secretary, Science & Technology, 8-10 meetings per day with not less than 20 officers in his room is no big news. Master of an unassuming nature, Haider does not wait for his Assistants to meet other bureaucrats. He has no qualms in meeting them personally in their offices and in all humility, he prefers to operate even the lift himself if need be, to move up or down to other offices.

I pick up my Midday (it's supposed to ve an Eveninger. ..but first edition comes out at 19) .cup of coffee ...and take my fav windows seat in the 5.46 Churchgate Virar Fast local train .
It's been a while since I took a local train and I wonder if my old local train friend Aam Bhai is around... he takes this local and is always in this compartment. Just as train starts he jumps in and huffing and puffing comes and sits next to me

COMMENT FROM WHISPERS IN THE CORRIDORS.IN
Why are senior level posts, of AS or Secretary-level, in Ministries or areas where international relations is an important determinant, like Commerce, Defence, Petroleum and DEA not available to IFS officers? Why are they non-existent, forget about being extinct ?
