Intolerance to a chai wala PM
(IMAGINARY)

I happen to meet Rahul at Lodhi Garden post his Intolerance Walk. He's brought his two doggies for a walk.

Rahul (seeing me): Intolerance is peaking in India .. see even a very famous Historian has compared ISIS to RSS!

Me: Then there is one test to check this out first hand ... request this Historian to go to ISIS HQ in the guise of a Hindu and then to RSS as a Muslim. ... but first go to RSS...because it's not sure he will return from ISIS HQ ..... RSS would do him no bodily harm... at most if he gets into a argument they would present their case! And I am sure he would be fed well while the arguments are on....desi tea ..samosas and jalebis!

R: See people from all walks of life are returning their awards to protest the intolerance!

M: Ha .... the word on the Street is .... Congress gaveth (gave) and now Congress asketh ...give back! That is why it's termed as manufactured!

S: My Mom met the President yesterday and the President was very attentive and sympathetic!

M: Yesterday was the day when in 1984 Sikhs were butchered on the streets of Delhi ...what happened then to Congress's tolerance ... and yesterday your Mom proved ...1 Muslim murder (Dadri) = 3000 + butchered Sikhs (Delhi 1984) .... of course Pranab Da would be attentive you know why ....but sympathetic ... my reading is .... Rani bann gayi Protesting Praja.. he has seen your Mom's pomp when Congress was in power and she is now a protester!

R: But we made a Sikh the PM!

M: Oye who are you kidding ...after her Rao experience she was looking for someone with credibility but who had 0% chance of developing political wings and MMS was ideal.

R: See even Moody has said intolerance could trip India!

M: Ha ....that was a paper written by a very junior researcher in Moody and if Moody had to append it's name the Paper would have had to go through 'the mill' ....and wonder if you know the writer is the son in law of the guy who equated RSS with ISIS. It's ranting of one individual not Moody's !

R: Even a famous hero from Bollywood has said intolerance has gone up!

M: Bollywood .... isn't he an actor ..... I rest my case ... by the way he has just received a Notice from ED!

R: Wait and watch the kick in the rear BJP gets in Bihar!

M: Modi's rallies ....enthused youth and women voting in great numbers means BJP heading for a big win! You should be worried ...Congress will recede further in Bihar!

R: Should I believe you or my Mummy .... she feels Congress has got a chance to bounce back! Diggy Uncle says BJP is on the back foot !

M: In cricket when a batsman goes on the back foot there is every chance it's to hit the ball out of the stadium .... I feel this is the more probable analogy ... bye... go walk your doggies!

Next President ?

Though it is too early to speculate as to who the next President of India - due in 2017 - would be, what has prompted to ponder over the likelihood of the candidature for the coveted office almost two years from now is the circulation of pages like - Lal Krishna Advani Next President of India - & - Mission 2017 Lal Krishna Adwani President of India – on facebook.

Given the fact that Advani’s aspirations to become PM always failed due to various circumstances in Indian politics which were unfavourable to him, the BJP may try to compensate that by offering him nomination for President of India from NDA, and grapevine has it that he has also been assured about the same after Narendra Modi’s (s)election for the post of Prime Minister.

Advani can be said to be one of the strongest candidate for the post, and perhaps the most likely one too not only because he is one of the founding Member of the BJP who is still active in Politics but also seniormost active politicians among big political leaders in India.

But honestly speaking, except Modi no one knows who the next President of India would be since one thing is certain that he would want to have some such person as President who would assist him and his acrimony with Advani is well known. .Who knows he may continue with the incumbent – Pranab Mukherjee !

However in case of any slip between the cup and the lips and incase Mukherjee - having an excellent rapport with the Prime Minister and others – is not repeated, the other probables could be the present Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs. Sumitra Mahajan and another BJP veteran Murli Manohar Joshi.

While Ms. Mahajan apart from having earned goodwill of all also has the advantage of being a female, Joshi is a Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh veteran known for his strong Hindu credentials.

Even as US President Barack Obama’s slip of the tongue – when he addressed PM Narendra Modi as ‘Mr President’ might have raised his aspiration to occupy the palatial Bhawan at Raisina Hill, but so far Modi’s turn for the coveted post is concerned, incase he wishes to be one, would come only after 2024.
During the first luncheon meeting with Mukherjee, in July 2014, after he took oath as Prime Minister, Modi reportedly evinced keen interest in seeing the Presidential palace and was thus taken around Rashtrapati Bhavan by the President's Secretary Omita Paul.
During the visit, Modi also spent some time in the 'Cabinet Room' of the Palace - , where the interim government headed by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru used to meet – and Ms Paul explained to him the historical significance of the place.

(It was this Cabinet Room where Lord Mountbatten had his last meeting with Nehru, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, B R Ambedkar, Sardar Baldev Singh and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee before moving to Shimla for signing of the final Partition plan.)

Modi later also went to Ashoka Hall and Durbar Hall, the museum and the library before attending the lunch with the President.

Pay parity

There are reports in media about a speculation of a recommendation by 7 CPC about pay parity between IAS and other Central services. The comparison between IAS and other services to gold medalists and back benchers is unfortunate. In the CS examination, even one mark makes difference in service allotment. It does not mean that these two candidates are intellectually different. IAS officers in their state cadres are already getting benefits in pay and other allowances. Majority of central services are working in Central government do not have any privileges. Some of us are not even reaching JS level while their counterparts in IAS have already become chief secretaries in smaller states. IAS friends should have some sympathy for their colleagues in other services.

Bigger responsibility

If you are a Prime Minister of a country, you cannot say that anything happened is a problem of a particular state. When Shiv Sena was a majority party in Maharashtra, the BJP behaved like a disciplined party. Now Shiv Sena has only 1/3rd strength in the Assembly it is behaving like a most indisciplined party. You cannot neglect immediate problems being faced by the citizens at the ground level. In a country where we have so many poor, the Government should not spend so much of money in organizing lavish events.

Posting in CBI

Police officials in this country consider their posting in CBI as punishment because not much glamour is attached to it. There is no scope of misuse of perks and facilities. Why only Police officials be posted in CBI? The Central Secretariat officials in this country do a lot of brain work. They can be given lessons on law & order and then posted in CBI. They may be in a position to do a proper inquiry and submit a proper report.

Review of executive promotion policies in Maharatna PSU

The promotion policy in Maharatna PSU is only to benefit kith and kin of politicians and bureaucrats. The system is to kill honest, sincere, qualified and dedicated persons. The promotion policy has created nexus between executives and contractors. An executive who retires will be on rolls of the contractor next day. An outstanding honest, sincere, qualified and dedicated executive gets average grades. This government should look into it and purge the system thoroughly.

Information about educational loans

The appellant sought copies of circulars applicable to the education loan granted by bank and delivered to the wards of general public. The Public Information Officer (PIO) informed the appellant that education loan to the wards of staff was sanctioned on the same terms and conditions as prescribed for public except a few relaxations. The PIO further informed that the bank’s internal guidelines/circulars as required were of commercial confidence the disclosure of which would harm the competitive position of the bank, hence exempt under the provisions of section 8(1)(d) of the RTI Act. During hearing before the CIC, the appellant’s representative stated that the circulars issued by the bank were in the interest of the customers, disclosure of which may not harm in any way the competitive position of the bank. The Commission directed the PIO to provide copy of circulars of 2001 and latest circulars of 2012 which are issued for disseminating information for grant of education loan to the ward of the general public to the appellant.

Comments

Educational loans are being increasingly used by students from various walks of life and it imperative that information relating to grant of such loans should be suo – motu put in public domain.
