Composite township for Kashmiri Pandits in Valley?

BJP-led NDA government wants ghar wapsi for Kashmiri Pandits. MHA has asked the J & K government to provide land in the State to establish composite townships for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley. CM of Jammu & Kashmir, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has assured the Union Home Minister that the state government will acquire and provide land at the earliest for the purpose in the Valley. Though it's a ticklish issue but if it materializes it will be a big relief to Pandits.

DEBATE

Debate - Future of AAP after internal bickerings ?

Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP's) recent mammoth victory in Delhi was a super-landslide (the winning party securing 90 percent or more seats). Even the Congress which had the natural advantage of leading the freedom struggle successfully and had stalwarts like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi could never achieve it in any general election despite dominating the political scene in the country post independence. The rise of the Aam Aadmi Party indicated that people once again saw politics as an act of faith and hope but given the bickerings among its leaders in too a short span, the question that now arises is that What is the future of AAP ?

Imaginary Interview with Arnab Goswami

Starbucks at Juhu has a charm of its own. ..I go in and after ordering my morning fix look for a table in the corner .... Lo and behold in one corner buried in his coffee is King of TRP Arnab 'let me get specific ' Goswami. Quietly I take a seat on an adjacent table. When he lifts his head to take a sip.......

Me: Arnab, Good Morning.
Arnab: What's so damn good about the morning ....? It's a mean bad world....
Me: Woa. .. Hold on.....you sound like you just lost the lottery by a single digit.
Arnab: Gawd..... worse ...... see my glass.... what is written... < holds up glass and I read it and in bold ... Presstitute >.... that girl literally thought this was my name
Me: When a general with a chest full of medals calls you a Presstitute ... it sticks....
But this is a very old word.... recently it was used by Katju. .. No one lost sleep... so now why are you????
Arnab: He named me in a tweet ...... meri to waat lagh gayi....
Me: Calm down..... Talk to him.... try to get him to make amends ....
Arnab: Na..... I need something via which I can recoup my image in public.
Me: Get the General on your show... and call Ketkar, Jha, Saba Naqvi, and Hartosh... why even call Hillali from Pakistan and gang up on him ...like you often do!!!
Arnab: Yaar the guy is a Fauji .... You think he can get browbeaten.... he will in fact get into a bigger kickass mood.

Me: Do a one-on-one interview with him..... Unless he does to you what Raj Thackeray did to you..... Looked as if you had peed in your pants.
Arnab: I know .... Many told me about how petrified I looked. ... Why not I get a few Generals who do not see eye-to -eye with VK Singh and get them to debate on TV.
Me: Arnab it's General VK Singh.... if personally you do not respect him but you have to respect his stature and the medals on his chest .... and no General will be willing to do this.
Arnab: What about me..... I am The Arnab Goswami .... He should address me as Sir... or Mr. Goswami
Me: Listen.... these hyped TRPs are giving quite a few bloated egos.... I am sure if a TV debate is done on TRP and Sardesai couple. .. Barkah etc. are called..... You guys would tear into each other and puncture each other's TRP egos.
Arnab: I am The Arnab... don't you see how politicians cower to me on The News Hour... how I insult them....
Me: My friend now you will see a change.... the General has changed this.... so be careful.... by the way why do you shout so much on the News Hour... people call it the Noise Hour.
Arnab: Yaar I am hard of hearing.... don't you see the earpiece when I am on TV...
Me: Smart boy.... you think I do not know what that earpiece is for... I think you shout and scream as you felt viewers liked it.... they felt you were doing what they wanted to do to the Netas.
Arnab: Chalo have to go to Studio at Lower Parel and then to Nariman Point....
Me: Listen you know that banner on the side of Pizza on the Bay on Marine Drive.... close your eyes when you come near it...and keep eyes closed till you don't pass it.
Arnab: Why..... It's always bang on...

Me: Today it's. ... Reputation lost ... all is lost.
Arnab literally runs out crying

Disclaimer... its Satire.... no intention to show Starbucks negatively.... I love Starbucks

DEBATE (1)

I totally agree with the sane views expressed by a reader in this column about the tussle in AAP. One must not forget the fact that knives are out to destroy this fledgling party of people with integrity and social commitment because this party is a big challenge to the established political parties including the national parties. Various forces including the media want to raise the issue of revolt to embarrass the AAP and its government in Delhi. Howsoever tall and famous a leader is, it was suicidal to run down the party and its leader and openly canvass to defeat it in the elections and try to stop its fund collection move! How can such people escape disciplinary action for anti-party activities? The Delhi CM is in the right track and no one can stop him in his governance. People have reposed absolute faith in the Delhi CM and his Government despite the media massacre.

"Achhey Din for Public Servants "

Under garb of improving business environment, FM Arun Jaitley has hinted on diluting Prevention of Corruption Act by making a subtle distinction between "corruption" and "error". Basis: Law Commission's Report. Differentiating "error" from "corruption" will be fraught with subjectivity and discretion. All acts of omission and commission by the worthy decision makers would pass off as "error of judgment". Will this not weaken Prosecution's case in the court, one wonders? No punishment for quid pro quo deals between the Public servants and Private players. Those caught red-handed, alone, could be booked. Corruption will be re-defined in Rule books. Bribery will be legitimized through backdoor. It is now clear, why was the ruling dispensation going slow on pursuing cases against scamsters of UPA era, breaking its poll promises.

DATE WITH RTI

Copies of correspondence regarding bank loan

The Appellant and her husband availed a housing loan and a case was filed by them in the Consumer Court regarding charging of excessive interest on the loan account. The Appellant sought copies of two letters exchanged between the zonal office and a branch of the bank. Respondents submitted that housing loan was granted to the Appellant for purchase of land and construction of house thereon, but construction was not carried out and the account has become NPA. The Respondents further submitted that copies of the letters sought by the Appellant were not provided as it is their internal correspondence and held in a fiduciary capacity. The CIC held that the correspondence pertains to the loan account of the Appellant and is not held by the Respondents in a fiduciary capacity. Disagreeing with the denial of information under section 8(1)(e) of the RTI Act, the CIC directed the PIO to provide the copies of the two letters sought by the appellant free of cost.

Comments

If there was any part of the correspondence which was of commercial interest to the bank, perhaps a claim could have been made for exemption from disclosure for that particular part of letter under section 8 (1) (d) of the RTI Act.
